Starters
West:
C Yao
F Garnett
F Duncan
G McGrady
G Kobe
East:
C Shaquile
F Grant Hill
F Vince Carter
G Allen Iverson
G LeBron
There is a lot of talk that Vince shouldn't be an all star, but to that I say what? Maybe not neccessarily starting, but look at his stats since he came to New Jersey, he has without a doubt became the old VC. I don't think he should be starting, but don't shit a brick because he is an all-star, he deserves it in my opinion.
I'm not sure how big they make the rosters, but I assume the rest of the rosters look like this:
West:
C Brad Miller, F Amare Staudemire, F Dirk Nowitski, F Shawn Marion, G Manu Ginobili, G Ray Allen, G Steve Nash.
I'm not sure how many people they take, but you could make a case for guys like Tony Parker, Q, Rashard, Jason Richardson, Bibby, and maybe like Peja and Elton Brand.
East:
C Kurt Thomas, F Antawn Jaimison, F Jermaine O'Neal, F Ben Wallace, G Dwayne Wade, G Paul Pierce, G Gilbert Arenas, G Kirk Hinrich
You could also make a case for Chauncey Billups, Larry Hughes, Steve Francis, Emeka Okafor, Antoine Walker, and Raef LaFrenz

Nash should be starting. BULLSHIT :nono:

Yeah, I really think they should specify more then just G F and C. It was always my impression that T-Mac was a SF?
Amare wouldn't allow them to put his name under center, so he should have been starting IMO, but what I think it should have been was: Brad Miller, KG, Duncan, Bryant, and Nash.

I think Vince Carter shouldn't be on the all-star team based on the fact that he sucks
BCWWF
02-05-2005, 07:10 PM
41 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks today
Over the last month he is averaging 24.6 PPG on 460% shooting, 5.6 boards per game, 6 assists per game, 1.3 steals and 1 block per game. How exactly does he suck?
Like I said I don't think he should be starting, but he is better then Antoine Walker or whoever else you think should have his place in the game.

Nash will start as Kobe won't play, so at least that balances.
I think I voted after the Pacers-Pistons brawl and ended up voting for Jackson, Artest and O'Neal.

I thought Kobe was coming back relatively soon?

By the way, the reserves that I posted are purely speculation, they are just who I assumed. Do you agree or disagree? I think they should be fairly accurate.

Anybody can have a hot streak. Vince can put up all the stats he wants, he will never be among the NBA's elite.
Who said anything about Antoine Walker?
BCWWF
02-05-2005, 11:48 PM
You just try to be stupid sometimes. It's quite obvious based on the context of my post the relevance of Antoine Walker. WHO IS BETTER THEN VINCE THAT WILL NOT MAKE THE ALL STAR GAME? Is that clear enough for you now?
The Miz

"Like I said I don't think he should be starting, but he is better then Antoine Walker or whoever else you think should have his place in the game."
First of all, you don't know who I want in the All Star game, so how do you know he's better?
Second, you said "whoever else you" implying that Walker was someone I wanted. It's not my fault your ability to make clear sentences is poor.
The entire All-Star team has not been announced yet so I cannot say who deserves to be there more than Vince. But Vince is not even close to the top 2 forwards in the East.
BCWWF
02-06-2005, 12:48 AM
There are at least five forwards that will be on the Eastern team. Vince Carter and Grant Hill are already on the team. I projected that Jermaine O'Neal, Antawn Jaimison, and Ben Wallace are added as reserves. If that is the situation, then who is being left out? Antoine, Raef, Emeka? It's not that hard of a concept to grasp. And I never said Vince was one of the two best forwards in the East, I said he was one of the top 5. Jesus Christ miz, you've turned into a little girl. You feel the need to disagree with me on every single post that I make on these boards and then you try to back yourself up with comments like the one above? I don't know if you are drunk or what, but just be happy that I didn't quote and break apart each stupid line. Feel free to end your little power trip at any time.

Damn you Shaq, damn you.
Jamal Tinsley pls. He may be the only reason we even have a shot to make the playoffs after that Pacers/Pistons brawl. Yet no one had even mentioned him in the media. He averaged 17 and 8 assists 2 steals. This guy needs credit.

The way the NBA game works, they just have to be too picky and that is why Tinsley will get left out. Gilbert Arenas and Dwayne Wade have been amazing so far, and to leave either of them out would be a travesty. Beyond that, in the guard position you have a lot of guys who are still playing on a higher level then him. Pierce, Hinrich, Chauncey, Hughes, etc. It's just the way the cookie crumbles.
Speaking of cookies crumbling, Miz's ability to defend himelf? http://tpww.net/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

Wade, Hinrich, and Arenas all will most likely be on the team anyway. Which FORWARD is being left out, seeing as though Vince Carter is on the team as a forward...

The East is overloaded with good guards, and all the guys that you listed are legitmately good enough to be on the All Star team, but just can't. I assume that the big men they have on the Eastern side are Jermaine, Jaimison, Kurt Thomas, and Ben Wallace, Raef LaFrenz and Antoine Walker are the only other two who I think could even be considered for a spot.
I'm not saying, and never did say that Vince is one of the best basketball players out there, but just when you look at the way the East ends up, all of the forwards that deserve to be in the all star game still should be.
Also, based on statistics, Grant Hill is technically a lot worse then Vince.

I feel good for Grant Hill.
Back with the Pistons he was a leading vote-getter, and even beat MJ on a few occassins.
Its good to see things going well for him and his career now.

Personally I am glad to see Grant Hill back too. He has gone through a lot in his past few years and besides playing pretty well this season, from all reports I hear he is a class act guy too. In post 24 I said that because statistically, Grant Hill is not an elite forward by any means, but what it comes down to is that the East is very shallow in forwards, so if they have to have a player of lower caliber, I would prefer it Grant Hill than a guy like Drew Gooden.

BCWWF, I think you forgot to add the 'best point guard int he league' to the all-star list...
Stephon Marbury...Seriously, I kid.
After Marbury made that ridiculous statement about being the best point guard, in response to comparisons to Jason Kidd, the Knicks went 2-13 in January.
Sad.
BCWWF
02-07-2005, 01:50 AM
Statistically, Marbury is probably better then some of those guys Icon listed, but like Randy Moss missed the Pro Bowl in 2002, Marbury has no chance here.

Anyone who thinks Marbury is a good basketball player isn't familiar with the concept of team sports

I wish he had the same effect on the Timberwolves that he did with New Jersey and Phoenix after he left. When he left Minnesota they were still just a decent team.

There they are, I was off by two (In my initial list I forgot Dwayne Wade, and then when I added him I forgot to take off Hinrich, so theres three for you bitchers).
Z over Kurt Thomas is respectable. The East doesn't really have a real good #2 center, Kurt Thomas is better then Z in my opinion, but he doesn't always play center so he may have been listed as a forward. Z is a good guy to be in there though, better then Magliore last year.
In the West, I had Rashard being one of the top guys not to make the team, and I still believe that he shouldn't have made the team. Brad Miller is by far the top Center in the West this year, probably #2 in the leauge behind Shaq. He has done a tonn to hold the Kings as high as they are and he is playing amazing too. Rashard is good, damn good this year, but why they would add him and leave out a damn good traditional center is beyond me. Maybe they will add Miller when Kobe declines his offer.

I guess the only explanation would be that technically Amare and Duncan can play center and Dirk on occasion too, but still.
