And they gave Comic Book Guy a real name during this episode. Which I forget.
That Mario thing had me laughing out loud though.

I missed the first part of the episode due to me coming back from a superbowl party but I recorded it knowing that I would miss it. Caught the end and know I have to watch the beginning. ...sounds funny

Pretty terrible episode.
American Dad was OK.
The only funny shit was the old dog. Not even anything about him, just the way it looked.

American Dad tries too hard to be Family Guy. It won't last.
I mean the dad is so narrowly defined and is basically a one dimensional character who will be making the same "I hear a noise, I'll shoot my gun" jokes over and over.
And the alien... we already got the same joke three times in one episode with him.

But wasn't the first Family Guy like that too?
All Stewie really did was try to kill Lois

It's all about character development

Yeah I'm glad they turned away from Stewie being bent on killing lois.

Meh. It just seemed like Family Guy but with a more limiting scope (IE, the dad is an American CIA type dude and they can never get away from that).

I thought both Simpsons and American Dad were great tonight. Best Simpsons episode in LONG LONG time.
Once I got away from the "Family Guy copy" mindset and I thought Dad was hilarious. I'm afraid it won't last but at least Family Guy will be on again. Having both would be double the funny.

american dad sucked. it was an utter replica of family guy, down to the bone. i was watching and i just felt like i was watching a horrible family guy episode. none of the characters were funny aside from the father and the german speaking fish occasionally. wouldn't mind if i never saw it again.

That was the first time I've seen the Simpsons in like 5 years and it was the biggest pile of crap I've ever seen. It's all disjointed gags without the witty observations that made the show great. And I hear Matt Groening has fuck all to do with it now. Terrible.
American Dad came off as Family Guy Lite, IMO. Same gag style, different setting. I liked it enough to want to watch again, and it'll be interesting to see what happens after some significant character development.

Yea, this is only the second simpsons ep I've seen this season and it was f'ng awful. So many of the jokes felt half-assed and lame. The mario thing felt forced or something, like the idea was good, but they got lazy with it. Same thing goes for the pac-man wedding.
American Dad was ok. I'm really glad they changed the voice actor for the boy, if any of you saw the preview thing released a while back you know what I'm talking about. I laughed a couple of times, like when god called GWB or when the arab guy told his wife to put some clothes on. However neither of those things had anything to do with the characters of the show, they were just strange reference bits that could've easily been put in a family guy ep instead. It seems like the show is trying too hard with the weird characters, they've got an alien AND a talking fish... errmm ok. It's like they don't even have any faith in their own normal characters. Like they thought, "hmm we're going to make a sitcom about this family, but the family isn't really interesting so we're going to throw in a fat alien and a german fish pervert to spice things up." I'll watch it again, but it looks like its going to come on back to back with Family Guy, that might not be such a hot idea.

Wow... more negative reaction than I thought. I personally thought American Dad was great. Comparing it to the pilot for Family Guy, it's not too much worse. Granted, nothing will ever lay a finger on Family Guy, but American Dad is by no means horrible. They have tons of material they can work off of as they progress. You can't expect one episode to be as witty, creative, and hilarious as four seasons of another show.
So I'm personally hopeful on this. I think it has some promise. Although I do agree that it can become a flop if they're not careful.
As for Simpsons... a good episode compared to most of the recent ones, but nothing on the classics. I'm not a huge critic, though, so I don't think it "sucks" or anything. Just that they're not trying as hard, or trying too hard at times. Still enjoyable IMO. Yao Ming cracked me up, but then again, I'm Chinese so it's funny to me.

I thought American Dad was funny. It had some Family Guy calliber jokes. I was LMAO evertime the alien talked too. He sounded like a gay Christian Slater or something and had like... the perfect look. It was just awesome. He had some good lines like when he was talking to the mom at the breakfast table.
"Did you get my Frankenberries".
"Oh, I'm sorry I went to the store and I forgot to get your Frankenberries."
"*Breathing through his teeth* pretty sure I asked for Frankenberries."
Plus when he accused the girl of sleeping with the Jack in the Box guy and he showed the picture and her face was obviously taped over the face of the woman in the picture but the Jack in the Box guy's face was just unedited. lol

desideds to use this instead of making a new topic, any in a future episode of simpsons this year, this happens "Bart becomes addicted to junk food when a new vending machine is installed at Springfield Elementary. His steady diet of processed foods leads to a massive weight gain and health issues. When he's unable to stick to his prescribed low-fat diet, the Simpsons stage an intervention and ship Bart off to "Serenity Ranch – A Forced Starvation Facility," headed up by former food addict Tab Spangler (guest star Albert Brooks). While Spangler tries to help Bart overcome his obsession, Homer and Marge turn their home into a hostel for German travelers in order to pay for the costly Serenity Ranch." episode titled The Heartbroke Kid
"A flash-forward episode finds the Simpsons eight years from 'now', as both Bart and Lisa graduate Springfield High School (and in which Maggie "may speak")."(another episode of future time) episode titled Future-Drama and final a shocker
"Homer dies in a freak accident and begins an argument with God in heaven. (Could be episode GABF14)" episode titled Thank God, It's Doomsday
