Feb. 7, 2005

Jericho vs. Benoit

Three huge matches have already been announced by General Manager Eric Bischoff for RAW’s first-ever broadcast from Japan: Edge will get his first one-on-one match against Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship; Chris Jericho will face Chris Benoit in what is sure to be a brutal Submission Match; and William Regal & Tajiri will attempt to take the World Tag Team Championship from La Resistance.

For months, Edge has complained that he hasn’t gotten a fair opportunity to be World Heavyweight Champion. When RAW emanates from Japan, there will be no more excuses. Edge will face 10-time and current World Heavyweight Champion Triple H, man against man. It’s time for Edge to put up or shut up. But this may be the worst possible time for Triple H to encounter Edge; he’s coming off an impressive, double-duty showing at the Royal Rumble and has never been more passionate about winning the world title. Can the Cerebral Assassin come up with a game plan to turn back a hungry challenger, and will Evolution be part of that scheme?

Benoit and Jericho are no strangers to Japan. Their accomplished careers have included prolonged stays in that land, rich in wrestling history. The fans in Tokyo are sure to appreciate this match from two submission specialists. Will the night belong to the Crippler and his Crossface and Sharpshooter, or will the Walls of Jericho force Benoit to tap?

In what is certain to be a special treat for Tajiri, he will challenge La Resistance for the World Tag Team Championship in his homeland. Will William Regal be able to regain the title with a new partner, or will La Resistance stomp out the challenge?

Tune in to RAW (9/8 CT; Spike TV) to find out.

I'm loving the energy of the crowd, it adds so much to the show. I have't read the results as I like to watch the show 'live', and the fans alone have me pumped up.

I just had a thought. If Eugene was healthy, they probably would have made a match for him at WM against Hogan or at least a meeting of the two since there are talks of Hogan returning.

Damn, tapings turn off so many. Still at one page this thread.

Hurray! The show rocked. Japan crowds rock. They should start booking shows solely in Japan and Canada. :shifty:

Note: Not serious.

Anyways... Bentoit/Jericho was a good match. Though what was up with Bentoit doing the crossface with his elbow around Jericho's neck and not his hands pulling back and stuff?

Tajiri was a mark out moment cause it'll be the only time you'll ever hear Tajiri get that kind of reaction.

Christian is GOLD. A feud with Randy should be good. Though Christian really should go over. I mean, he hasn't one over for so long. Basically since his Mania win over Jericho, which Jericho has regained and more. So yeah. Christian needs a big win. And then a frustrated Randy Orton can RKO his dad and turn heel. Everybody wins.

HHH and Edge had a really good match. Edge can complain he was screwed and stuff because of the end. He can also feud with Batista after Mania.

The Japanese fans, as always, out classed the American and Canadian fans in terms of respect and hype. I wish the WWE did their shows in Tokyo every month. They even fixed the matches to be more Japanese oriented instead of the stage play drabble we've been fed. Look at the applause they gave the World Title, they were so happy to have the WWE. We get them every once and a while in our towns and the best we can do is chant "Boring" in the USA or "You Screwed Bret" in Canada. Japanese fans, second only to ECW fans.

What is it with Batista?

In the lockeroom Batista towered over Triple H and when they were in the ring they were equally tall.

Does HHH wear lifts or is Batista really 6'3"?

Batista has learned the power to levitate.

HHH won't be happy when he finds out Dave's been hanging with Benoit. [/really old joke] :shifty:

I thought Randy was going to expose Tomko for a moment there, what the hell was he doing putting down his shorts like that :|

anyway I loved the Edge/HHH match aswell as the Benoit/Jericho match.

I liked how flair used new moves in his match with michaels, It has been ages since I have seen Flair do any different moves than the knee drop, chops, stomp on leg and figure-four leglock etc.

That crowd blew me away. The whole show had an entirely different feel to it and I think it was the fans in attendance that made the difference. Too bad American and Canadian fans can't be more like the Japanese fans.

I'd just like to say:

TAJIRI IS A GOD!!!! FINALLY, HE GOT THE APPLAUSE HE DESERVES!

And I was amazed at how good the match between Trips and Edge was. They have pretty good chemistry.

The way Japanese fans work is they are generally quite and then applaud after an exchange. Or so I have read.

That's right Gouda, ive seen the wrestling promotions they have over there on TWC, they're quiet most of the time though until the match is reaching a finish, they were alot louder for the WWE though.

And i noticed that they did alot more wrestling moves in that show than they do in shows anywhere else, its a shame all we will see this week is 'punch, kick, punch, elbow drop' etc, i don't think they wanted to embaress themselves infront of a country that has such a great history in wrestling.
