Inspired by the heel thread, has there been any shocking moments when a heel turned face? I'm not sure about this one, but I thought it would be neat to flip the coin.

Most every face turn is teased for plenty of time beforehand, so not much shock factor. Then there are others (like Orton's) where they become a face simply by being kicked out of a heel stable.

Maybe Tyson's "face turn" at WM14 wasn't teased, though somewhat expected. When DDP became the first person to turn on the nWo by seemingly joining then hitting Scott Hall with a Diamond Cutter was a good one, though I don't know if that counts or not either.

Yeah, I don't think many face turns are very shocking. Then again...I remember when the Dudleys joined the RTC hahaha...that was gold.

Oh yeah...how about during the final days of WCW with Goldberg? He went from face to heel...to tweener..to who knows what the fuck he was. I remember one week he defeated Nash (and didn't even sell any of his moves)...which prevented Hall from coming back....then the next week he was against Russo and suddenly face?!? I guess that was SHOCKING in a BAD WAY.

The slow turn of Batista was a little unexpected, who knew last year that the fans would be this behind him?

Undertaker in 92, going against Jake the Snake

It's really hard to think of one. I mean, you can get a surprise heel turn going at the drop of a hat; have the face suddenly attack another face or whatever, and voila. But getting the crowd to cheer for you out of nowhere is pretty hard to do.

Luger definately. Nobody saw that coming. Marked out huge when he slammed Yoko.

I wouldn't call it shocking, and it hasn't veen happened yet, but I think if they turned Muhammad Hassan face it would be awesome. :y:

HHHitler turning on the Axis, after their loss at ForumMania II, and converting to Hip Hop is the most shocking face turn ever.

:shifty:

But in WWE, I'd have to say when Austin went back to 'The Old Stone Cold' for 1 night before Invasion.

I suppose it wasn't that shocking, but it's the only one I can remember.

IMO, the most shocking face turn, was Randy Orton.

Everyone knew he would turn eventually, but 1 night after winning the championship, that was unexpected

i seem to remember a ppv when i was younger where it was Flair and someone else who i really cant remermber for the life of me. but they were against Savage and Mr Perfect. i remember Perfect was reluctant to tag with Savage because of his friendship with Flair. But he came through in the end. i loved this and it came as a suprise becuase i was 100% mark at the time and also thought wrestling was real

Austin's. At the time, who would've expected him to become a face?

someone mentioned luger in 93, i agree that basically came from nowhere.

also undertaker in 02 i think it was when he beat jeff hardy in the ladder match. he kept beating him down, then taker came back and dragged hardy up and raised his hand. that began his face turn.

new age outlaws in late 98 when they changed to the corporate outlaws for one night, then turned on shamrock and bossman and beat them down

some "sudden" face turns happen when the wrestler turns on the heel manager. trying to remember some of those

what happened with those 2. its been a while since ive seen those ppv's and my memory of them is kinda foggy

Mania 6: Collosal (sp) Connection (Champions) vs Demolition: Tag Team Title Match.

Andre gets trapped in the ropes. Demolition hit thier finisher on Haku. 1..2..3 New Champs. After the match, Heenan slaps Andre. Andre chokes Heenan. Haku attacks Andre. Andre kills Haku and leaves by himself.

Survivor Series 88: Big 10 vs 10 match full of tag teams.

During the match, Fuji hit Ax with the cane. Ax and Smash then killed Fuji. Powers of Pain (babyfaces at the time) came over and helped up Fuji, automatically getting them boooed. Powers of Pain won the match with Fuji's help.

When Owen turned on Bret as Survivor Series and then turned face again before the rumble to tag with him, only to turn again that night.

I think one that shocked me was when Rock turned face in the 3 way cage match against Shamrock and Mankind. I believe it was his first time being a face because before that he was no one and then he was a heel in the nation. But I just remembered how as the match went on fans started to pull for him and I was pulling for him...(because im a heel fan) then they started playing him as a face and I started to hate him.

The only one I can think of would be Mike Tyson at WM XIV. That totally shocked me. I can't think of any other ones.
