ridiculous.

million dollar baby isn't that good. it was made for the oscars. everything about it is cliche, unearned, spoonfed stuff. the aviator should have won best picture, and martin scorsese deserved an oscar for this.

then again, i expected the oscars to not pick the best of the year, but rather who they liked personally to win.

The Aviator was not best picture at all. It was pretty gay, to be honest. But yeah, wtf, Scorsese is never gonna win an oscar.

chris rock made a comment about jude law being in every single movie of the past four years, and when sean penn came out, he says "and chris rock, if you're wondering about jude law, he's one of our finest actors" or something pussy-whipped like that. sean penn is probably the most annoying actor around right now, personality-wise. he's a fucking pansy.

chris rock sucked period. it's not his material, he was toned down, looked very uncomfortable making jokes about morgan freeman instead of niggers stealing bikes. it was bad.

The Aviator didn't deserve Best Picture OR Best Director. It amazes me how you could say that Million Dollar Baby was made for the Oscars, considering how Gangs of New York and The Aviator are essentially pleas for Oscars.

Um The Aviator wasn't that good.

Leo dcraprio still looks 12, how the fuck anyone finds him believeable in any role is beyond me.

But he had a tash! surely that means he must be older right?

He definitely deserved one for Goodfellas and maybe even Taxi Driver.

if he could have won an oscar for any year, it should've been for raging bull in 1980. how many people have ever even heard of "everyday people" or whatever that movie was called?

I swear to god that has to be a remake of the Hong Kong flick with Andy Lau.

What is Scorsese's thing with Di Caprio??

and besides, he can never win an Oscar because he would no longer be able to hold the title 'finest director never to win an oscar'

scorsese rules, but i think alfred hitchcock may already take that title.

DiCaprio is the new De Niro, I guess.

Alfred Hitchcock: 5 nominations, 0 wins
Robert Altman: 5 nominations, 0 wins
Stanley Kubrick: 4 nominations, 0 wins
Federico Fellini: 4 nominations, 0 wins

Scorsese was nominated for Raging Bull, Last Temptation of Christ, Goodfellas and Gangs of NY. He didn't win any of those I don't think it'd be right to give it to him for The Aviator. I loved Aviator, but it wasn't ENTIRELY Scorsese. I don't mind him branching out into new territory and whatever, but all of those previous movies (maybe not Gangs, that's prolly on par with Aviator) are leaps and bounds ahead of Aviator. Had he won for it, it would have been sympathy, not for a directoral achievement.

Scorsese will be remembered right alongside those directors named above, which IMHO is a much better honor than winning the oscar.

WTF? De Niro is the fucking man, Decraprio is a baby faced bitch boy.

He should be cast in DeGrassi Jr High and nothing else

De Niro was the man. Now he does shit like Hide & Seek.

I think Al Pacino has had it worse then Martin to be honest. He was nominated for 7 fucking films before he won one.

I am glad Million Dollar Baby one. I wouldn't have minded an upset from either Sideways or Finding Neverland either.

The Aviator didn't deserve to win, and I really don't think it should have taken as many awards as it did. Nothing against Marty of course, but I don't think he should win just for the sake of it.

Having seen it now, I can safely say the right movie won Best Picture/Director.

The Aviator is good, but at the same time it's really rather hollow and the editing is just ridiculously jumpy at times. DiCaprio was fine but not the best of this year's lot. Eastwood directed a much tighter smoother film in Million Dollar Baby and deserved the Oscar.

Cate Blanchett was the only one who really had any place getting an oscar and low and behold she did (though I still would have given it to Nathalie Portman)

At least he got nominated.

Poor Howard Hawks only got nominated once for Best Director.
