View Full Version : When did wrestlers start using entrance themes?

I was just thinking about this the other day. I know by the early 80's the WWE had entrance themes, but were they used in the 70's or earlier?

the earliest i remeber hearing music was with hogan using eye of the tiger in like 83/84 but it could have been used earlier that that.

I agree with you I think that was what started the whole thing of using the music.

I'm glad they use music, just walking into the ring doesn't make an impact..

It worked for awhile with Raven because of his whole personality, that was cool.

Most people give credit to the Freebirds, as the first ones to use music. I believe they began using it in the very early 80's. The Memphis territory used a lot of music also around that time.

Well, I know "back in the day" (so to speak) Gorgeous George used to come out to the ring with music. I believe the P&C theme, the same one Savage is / was known for using.

Basically, Gorgeous George was the originator of the entrance music - among tons of other things. Amazing contributions that guy made. Shame things ended up the way they did for him.

I'm pretty sure it started in 84. I don't know a month, but I'm like 93% sure.
