View Full Version : Batista's Mic Skills...

Today when he was talking....I couldn't help but to say, "Batista is a great wrestler...over and all...but his mic skills are horrible." He was just so boring on the mic...I hope he's one of those champs that doesn't talk much but rather beats people's ass. Speaking at a faster pace would've been better than slowing down in the middle of sentences and chopping them up.

I don't know...oh well. :o

he's average right now but he's getting better. It really helps when you have HHH and Flair mentoring him

Heh, yeah, that promo was kinda bad, but I'll forgive him. :)

lol, Batista all around isn't a great performer. He just is huge and has good natural charisma so he's easy to get into.

Well...he's not that good. But he's not that bad either.

On a scale of Goldberg to the Rock...I'd say he's about Hurricane level.

He has his moments. His in-ring promo was not one of them. However, the crowd was really into it. He coulda promoted an aryan nation and gotten a pretty good response.

Hurricane is greatness on the mic, what are you talking about.

Hurricane's good but he's no Rocky. In fact he's really below a lot of other people imo. Thus the ranking.

Batista was ok. The only thing I didn't really like was his use of the cheap pop.

Everyone uses cheap pop and cheap heat. It's the way of the world.

He really seemed like he was trying to be too Rock-ish tonight. It started with the little segment with Coach backstage. When he was pretending to be looking over his shoulder for Triple H very sarcastically and such.

Seemed like he was trying to do too much in the promo rather than just letting it flow. The whole "I'm gonna beat the man @ WM" for example seemed a bit too thought out. At the same time, I'd much rather listen to a Batista promo than another Triple H promo that includes the phrase "Let me remind you who I am..."

Hurricane is good on that mic. If he were given more time then it could be better known. batista on the other hand just needs more work.

Even the earlier promo wasn't that bad. The one with Coach.

It is unnatural though, contrived, stick up his ass. He's not the Rock, so he should work on his OWN traits.

I didn't see anything wrong with his mic skills, but maybe he needs a manager or something to do the talking for him.

Obviously he's gonna be useless on the mic though. Guys who are billed as animals shouldn't speak, they need mouthpieces.

If they expect him to carry RAW for the next little while, he should stay off the mic. I dont know if it was nerves, or bad material, but he had absolutely nothing to say, he almost turned heel by insulting the crowd, and his reason for turning on HHH left a lot to be desired.

Even though the fans were into the promo, I thought the whole segment was pretty bad. And like I said, I dont think Batista will last as a main eventer if thats the best he can do promo wise. Unless they turn him into a silent monster (ala Goldberg).

Yea, what was up with that? I'm sitting there going, "Jesus, you're getting a World Title shot at Wrestlemania in 4 weeks, show a little enthusiasm." This is one of the problems with all these new guys. They seem to not understand how to put themselves into character. When it comes to the mic/psychology, they just seem to go out there and say what they memorized from script. With Batista, all he has to do is put himself in a "real" mindset that he's about to achieve something he's waited for his whole life, he started from the bottom and now he's on top, he's been held back by the person that guided him and he finally has come into his own. Even if he's not feeling that in his own real life, he needs to get into that "character" before he goes out there. It's like he didn't even care with that promo. Didn't Flair teach him anything?

Yeah but as shitty as Goldberg was....he wasn't as bad as how Batista was last night. I'm hoping he'll progress tremendously over the next few weeks...b/c if not, you're gonna look at one low drawing wrestling...unless if he gets a manager or like you said...goes silent mode.

Mic skills shouldn't hold someone this over back though. MOUTHPIECE for fucksake, it's such a simple solution.

Really? But the way how I see it is that Goldberg didn't chop up his sentences..he just babbled some shit (fuck if I knew what he was talking about) and said YOURE NEXT!!!! Whereas Batista just stood there...stopped...said half a word...stopped...the cycle kept repeating.

Oh yeah, and to add this in...

Perhaps his match with Triple H should be No DQ. They fight in the backstage area...Triple H has Batista down. He pours gasoline on his throat...and tosses a match on it. He puts his throat on fire...and from there on out...Batista is like Old School Kane with an industrialized vocal chord! Hahahahaha jk, but it would certainly be funny!

wtf are you talking about?! Benoit's mic skills are better than Batista's. Batista is a great wrestler, but mic wise....Benoit is better. He certainly isn't the Rock but he's better than Batista.

I would agree with ya that benoit has better mic skills, but I think this word 'great' gets tossed around to often. Batista is not a great wrestler, but a GOOD wrestler.Benoit on the other hand is a GREAT wrestler, don't dismiss my judgement just by what you see from him in the WWE today, bottom line is when it comes to 'wrestling' Benoit is what its all about, same with kurt Angle and Shelton Benjamin.

Batista though is just powerful and has charisma, and has also kissed HHH's ass ever since he first came to the WWE by the looks of it.

What you could say though is he is a great performer in the ring, but not neccessarily a GREAT wrestler,he is also just getting everything handed to him because he works closely with HHH, and for that reason he didn't try as hard as someone like the Rock would.I personally doubt whether he appreciates the oppotunity he's getting in 5 weeks....

With this statement you seem to be suggesting that Batista is a better wrestler than Chris Benoit. For this, you should die.

Anyways, Batista should be a modern day Goldberg. But that's the problem with the WWE: you can't be a voice-less monster and be a main eventer. Not against a big mouth like Triple H, who takes up the first 20 minutes of RAW every week by running his same shit over and over again. You have to be able to combat him on the mic as well as in the ring. Goldberg never had to do that, because his ring work spoke for itself. People would run their mouths on him (Hogan, Mongo, Konnan, etc), and he would destroy them in the ring and shut them up.

That might be why Goldberg didn't succeed in the WWE. He couldn't go toe-to-toe with The Game on the microphone. Oh well. Batista is still a pimp.

I wasn't suggesting that at all. Since Bret's retirement, Benoit is the best wrestler around.

you see that would never happen. What HHH says in 15 minutse it takes the average man to say in 2.
