Excuse me for being underinformed but can someone explain to me what this match was all about? I've heard about 3 rings, 90 competitors, royal rumble type match but it's all very vague.

What was the PPV called?
What was the match itself called?
What were the rules of the match?
Can someone show me pics or vid clips of the match in progress?

I should know this but at the time these PPVs were happening I was a 'WWF is the best so I refuse to watch WCW' mark :$ .

Click this link and look for World War III-Sunday, 11/24/96 and I think this will help you.

I'm pretty sure the match is pretty much like the Royal Rumble, except they all enter at the same time. It's over the top elimination style and the last one standing is the winner. They can go from ring to ring, too.

The rules are the same as a Royal Rumble except everyone starts in the rings (battle royal rules in other words). When it gets down to 30 people (or something like that) they all move to the center ring. The match and the ppv was called World War 3.

The best part about World War 3 that I remember was that one of the opening matches before the actual match was a cruiserweight title match between Juventud Guerrera and Billy Kidman. It was great WCW style cruiserweight action that used all 3 rings

60 guys, 20 in each ring to start.

When it gets down, they move to the main ring, and go from there.

Basic royal rumble / battle royal format though, with elimination over the top (unless you're Hogan and get pulled out under the bottom rope and the ref isn't looking :shifty: )

I don't know about the other ones, but the last one, you could get eliminated by:

a) Touching the floor. (Didn't have to go over, just touching the mat on the outside floor was enough to get you eliminated)
b) Pinfall
c) Submission

You could also be eliminated if:

A) You were a cruiserweight division wrestler.
B) Your name ended in Adams, Blaze, Riggs, or a number.
C) You were from Mexico.
D) You weren't a member of the nWo.

I think when the numbver in the ring dwindled down to like 5 they would wait until one of the rings emptied and moved. but it was a nice concept
