-- There are reports that Jeff Jarrett of TNA has contacted The Rock about making an appearance for TNA in the near future. Apparently, The Rock was open to the idea but did not want to get into negotiations until the promotional tour for his latest movie, "Be Cool," is complete.
------------------------------------
Wow. Take this as basically nothing, but I just find it surprising that Rock didn't turn it down right away as I thought he would. At least he's willing to hear Jarrett out and that's pretty cool.

I'd imagine so, but it's gotta be a pretty effective way. The WWE has no reason to fear TNA right now, but appearances from one of the BIGGEST names in the WWE mightmake them sweat a little. I mean, it won't turn TNA into an instant success, but the Rock back in wrestling for anything...That would get a lot of people going...

Turner signed a no compete clause, that I think runs out either this year, or within the next few years. If he really wanted to, he could buy TNA out then, but don't hold your breathe. The Rock would be a major deal for TNA though, even if for just a one time appearance.

Speaking of buying out a new company, do you think if a new company came around (maybe with Ted's purchasing) Bischoff would jump to that company to be president?

The big question is not whether Rock's one or two appearances will be enough to draw fans to TNA (that's pretty much inevitable), but whether they can build on this and maintain high audience figures once he's gone.

This would be something. If Rock went to TNA, then TNA would have a huge popular star that is still worth a damn, unlike Hogan or Savage or Nash or anyone else that has passed through there.
The Rock is the #1 guy TNA needs to turn the company around. I don't see it happening, but it'd be incredible if it did.

Yeah, I believe Dwayne owns "The Rock." Regardless, even if they get him....he'll make a run in on Jarrets match. That's it. Hahahaha.
Anyhow, but The Rock could turn TNA into a legit threat against WWE a la WCW and Hogan. However, there's a problem in that Jarret owns TNA. Having him as owner is gonna fuck up the company terribly, and on top of that, I don't think Jarret even has a fraction of the money that McMahon has. Some corporate millionaire has to buy it, and Turner would be great but I heard he can't.
The Rock is Johnson's now. He "licensed" it.
I'm not sure the Rock alone could turn TNA into a legit threat, but it'd be a nice start.

Turner will be back this or next year (I can't remember which) if he comes back at all. That's when the no compete clause ends...This year or next. The Rock would be a HUGE coup...

I was thinking about it, there is no-one better for TNA to sign than Rock. They might just get lucky. The only other person they might be able to get would be Brock Lesnar, but who wants him?

'm not sure how cloe they really are in real life, but do you think they'd be a chance to have Mick Foley head over to TNA if Te Rock signed?
That's great news for TNA, and who knows, maybe they'll actually be able to use it as leverage to get in a better TV position. I hope Ted Turner helps TNA get to new heights when he "no-compete" clause runs out.

This is exactly how WCW springboarded into competition with WWE. I think TNA getting a hold of The Rock would start one of those parasteltic (sp?) chain reactions. Starting in TNA hiring a household-name that isn't with the WWE like the mentioned Rock, or someone like Stone Cold, Goldberg, or any other of the "big draws" from the past decade and sticking them in the program. It can make a difference to have someone's favorite wrestler on a program.
Personally I don't watch much wrestling anymore, but if TNA were to pick up The Rock I'd be watching TNA and not caring about WWE. If they ever managed to get a hold of three of four of those kind of guys they could really come at the WWE.
Unfortunately for TNA, the mere notion of them hiring The Rock, Austin, etc. is a joke in my opinion, because if any one of them wanted to be wrestling right now, no one would be able to outbid the WWE in picking them back up. This isn't going to make the WWE sweat at all, if I were McMahon I would probably call The Rock and tell him something insane like "I'll double whatever they offer you" just to add some drama.
Also, it's my opinion just from what The Rock conveys in his interviews that he is pretty fond of the WWE and his time there. He didn't leave over a bad check or a contractual disagreement or law suit, he left to become a movie star.
But if by some random asinine fluke they do get a hold of The Rock, I agree with you, the WWE is in for big shit and if they get anymore big names as well after that, they are officially "at war." Also, I am rather stoned so please forgive my sloppy post and bad syntax.
