-Thanks to Steve Messner for sending along the following information.

WWE has released what appears to be the finalized version of the WWE Backlash 2005 poster. Yesterday, the logo poster was posted, but today a new poster featuring none other than Triple H has been obtained.

The Poster itself features a spotlight shining down on Triple H in the ring and in the background is a large mural of himself looking out. There is the backlash logo across the top with the information, “Sunday May 1st” at the bottom of the poster.

What is even more interesting is the profile of HHH that appears on the poster, seems to feature him without his Heaveyweight title which you can check out for yourself. Also, it is becoming more and more likely that a rematch between Batista and Triple H will occur at Backlash, even more so now that the poster for the event has been released featuring him. credit: rajahwwf.com

So three things could be gathered from it...

1. This means absolutely nothing.
2. Batista is winning the title at Mania, but HHH will still be the focal point of shows.
3. How did they pry the belt off of Hunter long enough to take those pictures for that poster?

you know there is going to be a rematch anyways. There is always one. It seems

Little known fact is that HHH actually needs to be separated from Belty at least once every 9 months to prevent asphyxiation.

Maybe what we don't see is that Hunter is actually having a staredown with the belt.

Probably a file photo they acquired from WCW or something.

Back in 2002 WWE did a promo poster for No Way Out w/ RVD. It meant nothing. Van Dam wrestled Goldust on the 2nd or 3rd match of the card. I think, most often, WWE tries to put on recognizable or controversial wrestlers on their posters to promote the show in the city the PPV will be held.

Are you trying to imply that Triple H won't be main eventing Backlash?

No what I'm trying to say is that WWE puts wrestlers or images that are on these posters that will create interest which = money! Back in early 2002 RVD was still new to WWE and they knew that his style would create interest among casual fans and marks alike.

Right now on Raw, HHH=interest,money,controversy

take a step back and look at the big picture. WWE doesn't use programs that appeal solely to ppl like us(who breathe wrestling). They instead need to capture the interest of the casual fan base. Nobody on Raw can currently do that except Triple H. To capture casual fans you need to make them believe in the story. HHH has been promoted a THE WRESTLING GOD, now WWE is using that. That's why Batista is a "credible" challenger. This match is not being billed as "The Match of the Century" instead its being promoted as "Can this young monster defeat 'The Greatest Wrestler Alive Today'?"

Let me put it this way: WWE would be foolish not to use the wrestler that have invested most of their time in to promote the next Raw-exclusive PPV(which are usually weaker draws than joint PPVs). Its called marketing

HHH = Interest & Money?

I hate to break it to you, but you're stuck in the year 2000.

There's nobody on Raw more recognizable as a heel as HHH to the short term casual fan. HHH does not = interest. Someone kicking his ass does.

KingofOldSchool
03-22-2005, 10:07 PM
Do you think there is a reason for that?

redoneja
03-22-2005, 10:12 PM
Of course. Its inherent in the history of wrestling. Look at Gorgeous George, Buddy Rogers, and Ric Flair. They, like HHH, were great wrestlers, however the what made them big draws were that ppl wanted to see them destroyed.

KingofOldSchool

No, do you think there is a reason why he is the only "top heel" on Raw right now?

You missed out on the controversy thing.

He couldn't be controversial if he lynched a nigger, a spic and a Jew while performing a gay wedding.

R u trying to insinuate some sort of theory that he has held ppl down. I think the only reason he is the top heel is b/c
1) Out of the Heels available in sept 2002 he was the best choice for champ
2) He is a safe choice to put the burden on for the WWE, he has been relatively consistent for the past 5 years

Naw, he has caused controversy.

I mean he has given something for the internet wrestling community to talk about for the last few years.

So I have to give him that one.

Consistent?

Consistent with what?

Boring people?

Burying people?

Stroking his own ego?

Making people turn the channel?

Fucking a McMahon?

Annoying people?

But the internet is killing the business, thus any controversy here is negligible or counterproductive.

Don't blame him blame the circumstances. Anybody could be in his position and if they were don't you think they'd keep themselves up top(Look at Nash and Hogan in WCW) and fuck Stephanie McMahon(like any hot-blooded man wouldn't).
