Anyone else think that King was the wrong choice? I mean, come on, we have the perfect chance for cross promotional buffet references. JR is the man for the job.
Imagine that. "JINDRAK'S MUSCLES AREN'T MADE OF SALISBURY STEAK!"
"THAT LEFT HOOK AIN'T MADE OF LOBSTER!"
"CENA MAKING A SANDWHICH OUT OF THE CHAMPION, AND I THINK HE JUST ADDED THE MUSTARD!"
My theory, however, is that he was backstage, but too close to RVD's locker room. Combine contact high munchies with his food fetish...

so...yeah therefore, spoilers from here on out???
Hahahaha I still have to admit though...King is the FUNNIEST commentator WWE has. I was laughing when London wouldn't get kicked out, so King said, "reminds me of Letterman when he wore the velcro suit and stuck on the wall!"

Orton, Bob Jr. is not a well known "name" and probably 5% in that building even remember his wrestling days. And why wouldn't they boo? Orton is heel now.
King was funny tonight when he kept saying like "god, what goes on around here Cole?" He kept making Smackdown seem like some kind of place where everyone just does as they pleases and there's no kind of stability.
It was a

Oops...I didn't mean why Randy Orton was booed...I meant his dad being booed when he was discussing/with his son. His dad was booed both before and after. I guess it's cuz no one knows him like Loose Cannon said.

You know, the crowd was really cheering for Scotty 2 Hotty during the battle royal. Then, once he was eliminated, they cheered for London. I say give the two of them a feud for the title. But BUILD IT UP, don't half-ass it and rush it.
Seeing as how they're both faces, they could start off with a face vs face type of deal where they wrestle each other and show each other a ton of respect. Then turn one of them heel. That part I'm not sure about. Eiither one would make a great heel given the opportunity and right storyline.

Too bad WWE's cruiserweight doesn't match up to TNA's X Division or WCW's CW division. The Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels as X Division Champ is great!
People are behind Scotty b/c of the worm.

It's a shame, but then, it's too bad that the main event scene in TNA can't even stack up to the main event in the WWE.

I thought SD! was alright with King tonight. He made it different with the reactions mentioned above about how different Raw and SD was and how excited he was to see some wrestlers he hasn't seen in awhile.
And I think the S2H fan reactions isn't so bad, the WHAT chants are what are odd. Honestly, that just came out of the blue again and I don't think it was because of Austin coming back that this was restarted. WHAT?!

There are some really stupid statements in this thread:
lmao @ no one giving a damn about Cowboy Bob Orton and booing him and his son
I, too, was surprised at the crowd's reaction to an old man who was begging for mercy for his (heel) son. Not to mention that anyone who does remember Orton would remmebr him as the guy who spent almost 5 years wearing a cast (Bobby Heenan referred to him as a 'slow healer.') in order to get tainted victories. Dead air, mild dislike, followed by genuine heat is pretty much exactly what the writers were looking for there.
Exactly, I didnt see but if ur a heel u WANT to be booed. Smackdown might be done with UPN that is the rumor. UPN is dead if that happens Here's the UPN 'rumor' as stated by this article:
"I spoke with Susan Young, the author of The Oakland Tribune piece that Mike Johnson reported on yesterday, concerning Viacom's Leslie Moonves' comments about Smackdown's future on UPN. She told me that the quote in the paper was 100 percent accurate but that she incorrectly wrote that Smackdown's contract would not be renewed when she should have written that it may not be renewed. The quote took place when Moonves was talking about Smackdown's future on UPN last week. Moonves said that he didn't know how much time was left on the contract and asked UPN President Dawn Ostroff, who was also at the interview with him. She told him it expired in September of 2006. He then said he wasn't sure of the future of WWE on UPN and said it may not be renewed, with Young saying the tone of his voice and demeanor implying that it would not be.
He then issued this quote, about Smackdown. "It still makes us a decent amount of money," said Moonves. "When you think about the powerhouses of CBS and NBC on Thursday night, it's great counter-programming. (But) it doesn't fit into the overall (programming) strategy." "
Basically, they have more than a year left to renegotiate.
And UPN, like other stations that have carried successful wrestling programs through the years, has learned that sponsors won't pay top dollar to be associated with programming that the mainstream media still views as a little too 'trailer-trash.' UPN gets three times as much revenue from 'America's next Top Model.'

Daniels is indeed great. But the X Diviosn is pretty much THE selling point TNA. The TNA's talent isn't really that much better..it's just that they receive free reign in their matches and actual airtime to perform. Can you just imagine how much time and how many highspots an X Division battle royal would've gotten on an episode of Impact? Just watch what happens once Frankie Kazarian hits the main roster. I doubt he'll even be allowed to use the Flux Capacitor.
If Daniels were in the WWE, he'd probably look like crap too.

London would be most likely to turn heel, but I think he's still to fresh a face to go down that route. Maybe we can have them a buddies for a while (like Eddie and Rey), and then, a year later, gradually start a rivalry.
Hmmm... I guess it would be similar to the London/Kidman thing, just not as rushed.

"It's been a long time since I've seen Scotty's worm!" and then Lawler nearly cracking up were priceless!
Also, did anyone notice that just before Angle spoke on the mic after beating Josh Mathews senseless, Michael Cole said a few comments like "Despicable! Horrible!" and Lawler kept saying "Quiet! I told you to be quiet!" Does he do that to J.R. too? J.R. would whip his ass! HIS COMMENTARY ISN'T MADE OF REESE'S PIECES YA KNOW!!!
But yeah, I TiVo'ed it and I had to replay it twice to hear it right. Pretty funny.

I love it when people have opinions AND commentary on shows they didn't watch.....
I hated when people diss other without knowing the stuation. Someone said they were booing Bob Orton Jr. cause no one new who he was. After watching wrestling for over 20 year and knowing that Orton Jr is a master at getting heat. I dont have to watch to know what the wwe was trying to do with this promo. I was trying make people reading this thread understand that he was probally getting genuine heat, as u said earier, and just booing cause they dont know who he is.

First, on topic, King was the only choice to sit in for Taz, as those are the two commentators who pull for the heels. Had Cole been detained from the show, JR would have sat in to pull for the faces.
As for Scotty, I'm actually surprised that you guys were surprised by the fans' support. He's been around long enough to be established as a "good wrestler". The fans always loved the Too Cool gimmick and even after Sexay bailed 'n' failed, and Scotty himself toned down the mid-nineties over the top style, he's still such a likeable character, there's no reason to not like him.
PLus, I'm thinking most people are kind of waiting on Scotty to get his CW title shot. I mean, really. IT's about time. And like T-Rich said, a Scotty/London feud would rock. And with the personalities, London would most likely be the heel.
Oh, and by the way; was anybody else thanking God Almighty when Scotty hit the Worm on JBL? It made me nostalgic for the days when those two were on the same level, tag divisions...and Scotty had a belt.

Of course, that's moot since the whole concept of this thread was to make a JOKE...I can't imagine that anyone would take a statement like my original one SERIOUSLY, no matter how hard it is to convey humour online...

The fans are smart enough to realize that Bob Orton, Jr. is Randy Orton's father. They hate Randy, therefore they hate Bob. Hence the "Randy Sucks" chants.
That's the source of Bob's heat. Not because he was an unknown.

The fact that he got heat before saying anything proves he his a master at getting heat. He didnt need a 30 promo for people to hate him. Just his presence was enough. Too few guys can still do this. The Undertaker and Tully Blanchard come to mind as being the same way. Being Randy's dad did help, but there were also fans in Houston that remember him as a main event heel all over texas in the early 80s. For a fan with just under 20 years of fandom u sure dont understand how the business used to work.
