I dont know about you, but the shock effect of seeing a guy busted open is little to none now for me. It happens so much now that it no longer has the same visual effect that it used to have. I remember when Austin got "busted" open at Mania 13, it really added to the match. Same when HBK cracked open the Undertaker for the first time, it really made you go  but now, it doesn't.

It has been overused way too much, especially in recent years. I personally blame HBK and Triple H for this. In their matches, you are almost certain to have the bladding spot. When HBK done it at the Rumble when Kurt threw the steps into his face, it really didn't need to be done, it just seemed like a perfectly good waste of razor blade/flesh. Triple H is probably the main culprit, almost every title match he is in you can guarantee it's going to take place, and I am no longer impressed by it.

It used to be able to add to the match, but now all it adds is to what has to be cleaned up at the end of the match. I think the last time I was shocked, or at least thought "holy crap" by the amount of blood shed was when Eddie bladded himself at Judgement Day. But we all know that he done that too deep and suffered from the after effects.

I think the only way to bring back the shock factor is to not have anyone do the blad job for a good couple of months or so, then, when the right feud comes along, should be used again.

Thoughts?

Yeah the Eddie bladejob was harsh. It was the first time I thought someone would pass out from blood loss in a match, but then I rememebered that it's Eddie and he's the man.

Good point. Oversaturation of anything gets boring after a while. :y:

Exactly. It's lost its shock value, which is probably why more wrestlers tend to overblade (Or pull a Michaels)

Yeah. I definatley agree. Back in the day if you saw just a little blood you'd be all like "Wow!" but now it's just meh unless it's like a very heavy HBK, face all red, hair all red type of thing.

So yeah. I concur.

In fairness, Michaels only does it to cover his bald spot.

Flair used to love to bleed. I think blood's cool. :$

Yeah, but you can tell when it's a blade job and when it's real. When Benoit headbutted Tomko and cut his eyebrow open a couple weeks ago, I cringed to see the blood pouring out of his head. It's different when a guy blades himself because the blood just kinda oozes out. But you're right. Back in the day it was reserved for one guy and it wasn't as often as it is now. To have a blade job to HYPE UP a match is pretty bad.

back in the day seein flair with red streaks in his hair was awesome.

Years ago when it wasn't so frequent it was awesome.

Now it's like a once every two weeks sort of deal. the bladin is so tired and played out that it's literally a waste. I agree wit ya Disturbed one. Gotta stop it for a while. Now if it's a legit bust then nothin can be done about it and that would be like a "whoa" moment. But pullin a Michaels or somethin is not the way to go for a good long time now.

Yeah, wrestlers need to stop blading themselves. Agreed with everything you said. Its not shocking anymore like you said. It would be shocking if like Triple H bladed himself and blue ooze started coming from his forehead. Then it might be shocking, but then they'd get carried away with that idea.

Shocking? It would just prove that he's from E.T.'s family. As i always said, that nose is nothing near human.

When Paul London got busted open on Smackdown last Thursday, it looked very legit and it did add to the drama of the match. However, most of the time the blood doesn't affect the psychology of the match, instead the guy is just bleeding and wrestling normally.

They need to have a "Last blood match". Last one to bleed, looses.
