Is the biggest pile of crap imaginable. You have people wetting themselves over it when it is just a glorified, piss poor children's drama. If I was going to bring it back I would of made it quite dark, something that couldn't be shown before 9pm. But noooo, we get some big-assed cheesefest (which, it kinda always has been, but not this much) instead.

Though your being abit harsh i think, i kinda agree. I wouldve done it in the same way as you, something like how it was in the tom baker days, but even more extreme though i understand they arent allowed to go over a certain 'line'. It should be abit more serious aswell, it just seems like a big joke to me. There are some good moments that do make you think though.

Oh cheer up you miserable cynical sods. Maybe things are being played for laughs a bit too much, but I think it's great. The series was always cheesy, people liked the fact it didn't take itself too seriously. Plus it was never designed as a show purely for adults anyway, it was always meant to be a family show...

It wasn't cheese went it was original. I realize it comes off as such when watching it today. That's not entirely fair though now is it?

The new Doctor is alot darker then the previous shows - Cassandra the last human alive, in the second episode was left to dry up and explode while the Doctor looked on despite pleadings for Rose to let her live. That would have never happend before.

But the as Destroyer said the series has always been a bit cheesy and never takes it's self too seriously, that's part of the attraction. Why would you "remake" a show and change the formula that attracted people to it in the first place. IMO this is the best Doctor Who ever - Tom Baker was always my favourite but Christopher Eccleston is even better. I can even handle Billie Piper (she's much better when she's not singing shitty songs)

you just called me a liar.

As a kid I always remember it as profound.
I GUESS NOT

It's always had serious moments, yes, but the overall theme was a lighthearted nature mixed with the odd profound moment.

I love the new Doctor Who, it's too bad Christopher Eccleston isn't coming back for the next season

When i said serious i meant as serious as it can be, not like totally serious but this doctor kinda treats it like a joke. What i mean is when theres danger its like 'come on! I can't wait' Yet it used to be like ' This shouldn't sound like fun, its a job we have to do" . I didn't like that whole last human alive thing, it was a good idea but abit odd.Liked the bit where they showed the end of the earth but should've said the end of our solar system, cos it wasnt just the Earths last day was it? Think about it.

Good thing they're tryna be creative with it though. It is meant to be a programme for kids mainly aswell so putting it on at 9pm or after would be abit stupid.

Exactly what im trying to say. If you want a perfect example of what i mean by a serious episode, watch 'Genisis of the Daleks'..Best Dalek one ever.

Last night's was OK, it's the first I've seen. At least they've got something decent on a Saturday, it's about time something filled the void left by Noel's House Party.

I miss that show so much. :'(

And like the big geeky fanboy I am, I can't wait for the Dalek episode in only 20 days time.

Last night's was a bit crap, to be honest. Good idea, badly played. There was too much Billie Piper and not enough Ecclestone.

I felt like a plum after telling my dad it was pretty good, then we turned it over to watch a 5 minute conversation between Billie Piper and some other bird. Awful.

Ah but they'll be back later on in the series.

I might see if I can download the previous two to see what they were like. If they are crap, I will blame ECG.

They are avalible on Demoniod.com, I'm still seeding the second and third episodes and the first one is still avalible. It's the only way I can see them without waiting for months for the ABC to show it over here. They are not crap, I haven't seen the unquiet dead yet so when I do I'll let you know what I think.

We're so far away, it's almost like we've been forgotten... :(

I read it somewhere... plus IMDB has credits for Dalek voices for the final two episodes, so they will be back in some capacity.

Just finished watching it - not too bad at all, i thought the Charles Dickens bit was a little silly but all in all it wasn't a bad episode. Probably not as good as the first two but better that ECG made it out to be.

But then again he is a big plum
