Is there any other kind of VH?
Big debate on that one. I love Sammy. I love the voice. He isn't much of a showman compared to Dave, but he compliments the band so much. For some reason many of the chicks I know also love Sammy more than Dave. My girlfriend hates old VH, but loves the Sammy stuff and even the (do it say it) Cherone album.
Saw them last July in Toronto. Kick Ass concert. 11 minute Eddie solo. Enough said, was worth the price of admission. I heard rumours that the plan was to go on tour with both Dave and Sammy. Dave didn't do it because they wanted to play the early songs at the beginning of the show and end with the older stuff. Not sure if there is much truth to the rumour, but it would have been awesome.

I like them both, however, I've always favoured Sammy's vocal ability over Dave. Showmanship is important, but ultimately, it's the voice & vocal range that matters. 11 minute solo in Toronto, eh? Man, I wanted to go to that show, but ultimately I backed off because of the ticket price.

All true statement's, each to there own! :)
But I prefer Dave over all. In my opinion I dont like Sammy at all, I dont want to hear a million songs about love.
DLR VH Era: Makes you want to Drive Fast Cars, Drink JD and Fuck beautiful Girls.
Sammy VH Era: Makes you want to say your prayers, Drink milk and Drive a Nissan.

Ticket prices were insane. I paid $260 for me and the girlfriend. Sammy did a great job covering the old VH tunes. Michael Anthony even sang "Somebody Get Me A Doctor". The Alex drum solo was amazing as well. I went to see Mötley Crüe just over a month ago and people were raving about the drum solo. Comparing it to Alex left me a little dissapointed.

I'm not sure if the blame should fall on Sammy for that though. The brothers control Van Halen so it may be their doing in terms of writing. Sammys solo stuff is pretty damn good. "I can't drive 55" will always be a classic. Sammy doing it with VH on the "Live without a net" concert DVD was quite cool in my opinion.
