A lot of people were skeptical when the eddie/mysterio feud was rumored to be on the horizen. But I think it's been done beautifully. With Chavo instigating eddie, their mishaps trying to "help" eachother. Even giving Mysterio the clean win at mania was a stroke of genius. And from the looks of the spoilers, things are heating up nicely. I can definitly see this feud running on the whole year. And to be honest, I think the eddie heel turn has potential to be even more entertaining then the Batista face turn.(gasp!) It will definitly be a better feud than HHH/Batista.

Fantastic wrestlers + Good build-up = Solid storylines?
You know Vince is scratching his head over that one.

Doubt it will go on a year, this will probably come to a head at Summerslam after Rey beats Jordan at Judgement Day (i think that's the next Smackdown PPV)

I'm not too sure. I know putting the U.S. Title on Rey is deffinately a good step, but I have feeling it will probably be Eddie vs. Rey part 2 (probably with some kind of gimmick) at Judgement Day.

I'm not saying it will be non-stop. It would be cool if it was like HHH/Micheals was a couple years ago. Where they faced eachother a couple times, then went their separate ways for a bit. Even though they didn't face eachother directly they still did a good job of keeping the heat of the feud alive til the next time they faced off.
If only they had taken this kind of approach with Randy Orton when they truned him face. Not rushing it and letting the storyline develop.

No, I agree with you. In fact, I was gonna post a topic named something like "WWE rediscovering joy of buildup?" talking about how they've actually done a good job PATIENTLY building up turns.
I don't think the feud should go a whole year, but two more months could work.

Not really.
To Vicne, hoss=good wrestler. As a result, he's not convinced they're good wrestlers.
He's more like "little guys can be popular? How'd that happen?"

That's about how much longer the WWE will be doing this whole "buildup" trend.

I think that, at first, the match and angle were rushed into Wrestlemainia; however I do think that the fued is actually becoming quite interesting. The only problem I have is the expectations of some for this fued to produce something to rival their match at Halloween Havoc 1997. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Eddie for overcoming his demons, but IMO Eddie isn't as good as he was back in 97 and 98. Don't get me wrong, I believe Eddie is still one of the top 5 performers in WWE but there was no other active wrestler in 1997 that could hold his jock. Eddie in 1997 was World Championship material. Now, he's gotten older, he's adopted to the WWE style of wrestling and he's gained some weight(I know its all muscle but it still affects his performance- watch the tapes). This fued will meet my expectaions if, when its all over, neither man loses any overness.

How was it rushed? The WWE's been hinting at this for ages.

The speculation was around for a good time, yes but the actual match was only made two weeks before Wrestlemainia. Up until Eddie actually challenged Rey, one could surmise that he was simply gonna turn on Rey during a tag match. I can't blame WWE for how it was booked though. Its extremely hard to do angles involving "friendly competitions" especially if the two are faces, let alone tag champs. You couldn't exactly have Eddie just come out and attack Rey and then make the challenge.
What I'm saying is that I believe WWE should have announced the match 2 weeks sooner and let them try to show each other up heading in to Mania. Instead, they focused on planting heel seeds in Guerrero before he lost the match. I think that they should have made the Mania match w/o any prior heel hints from Eddie. Once Eddie lost the match, he could slowly exude heel characteristics stemming from losing the match(which he kinda already is).

The match was only made, but the build to a confrontation was around a lot longer. You make it sound like Orton/Undertaker, where there was really nothing before they announced it.
They did good on this.

I agree, that they did good on this I just think that the match should have been announced at least 2 weeks earlier and have them play a friendly game of one-ups-manship, and then have it turn more serious after Guerrero lost at WM.

The program has been handled very well.
I hear what people are saying about rushing the match for Mania, but I think that actually helped the overall program. If Rey v Eddie would have been announced a lot sooner, they would have had to do a bunch of stuff where they are close to breaking up as a team. The way they did it, it was purely a respect angle, and now the fact that Eddie is lost is eating at him, and has allowed the program to continue.
I never doubted it would be a good program, I think the problem is going to arise when they try to turn Eddie heel. I know they need some more heels to throw at Cena, but Eddie is so damn over, its hard for me to imagine him succeeding (by that I mean drawing) as a heel. I think it'll be something that could turn fans away.
Who knows, maybe they wont turn him at all, but it sure seems like thats the road they are taking.
