At a launch event for the Celebrity Wrestling TV Show, Roddy Piper claimed that he recently signed a five-year deal with World Wrestling Entertainment.
At this point, no confirmation is available about a potential deal with Piper, and it's not as if wrestlers have not made erroneous claims about possessing contracts in the past. However, Piper is definitely on the record making the claim.
He also stated that he will be filming a movie in China and doing a show in Las Vegas, so an on-air WWE return is not at all imminent.
This website will feature more on this story in the coming days.

Not that I don't love Roddy, because I do, but somehow I don't know why WWE would give him a contract. Does he get nostalgia pops? Yes and he deserves it, BUT he isn't going to draw any new fans nor will he in any measureable way keep the current asses in the seats...so...take that for what it's worth...
I thought they had a pretty good thing going with him and Sean O'Haire a few years back - until they turned it into a feud with Mr. America and pushed Sean to the back burner. Another similar angle could really help a new wrestler - preferrably a very charismatic one with a lot of potential.

ooooo...what if Piper became Christian's mentor to the Gold...eh...ok I think it would be great.

Sounds like Piper negotiated himself a deal in return for some gate reciepts to his movie that no doubt will be promo'd to death by WWE. Something to that effect I'd wager.

They need Piper to indirectly bury another upcoming talent by having him become the focal point, then get fired, and then that guy goes into a cage.
My hope is that they pair him with Chris Masters. :shifty:
