OK, so I read today in the newspaper that there is a planned 'Honeymooners' film due out this year [the same 'Honeymooners' that featured the late great Jackie Gleason, Audrey Meadows, etc.].

So, hearing this BS news, I head over to IMDB.com to check out the horrible main cast for this thing - which, according to their website, is as follows:

Cedric the Entertainer .... Ralph Kramden
Mike Epps .... Ed Norton
Regina Hall .... Trixie Norton
Gabrielle Union .... Alice Kramden
Eric Stoltz .... William Davis
John Leguizamo .... Dodge

OK, so the cast is total garbage. That's done and out of the way. There are several things that piss me off here, but I'll address just two of the things.

1) The Honeymooners was a TREMENDOUS show, with a great and talented cast. NO ONE, of either race to be discussed, could ever reproduce the cast or the awesome characters on the show. Making a film like this shows just how desperate Hollywood is to re-make EVERYTHING.

2) It's even more ridiculous that this will be made into a film with African-American actors playing the Kramdens, Nortons, etc. I don't understand how it is perfectly fine for a 'black' actor to play a 'white character', but how if a white actor plays a 'black character' it's totally wrong and everyone causes an uproar.

I'm not meaning my comment(s) as a racist thing, because certainly I'm not, but what I am saying is that it's ridiculous to change the entire character in this way.

First they re-make Kojak with Ving Rhames :nono: - now this.

I agree.

Although I think Rhames was pretty good choice for Kojak (haven't seen the show yet though).

Anyways, have you seen the trailer for The Honeymooners? Looks awful, just awful. If you hadn't already come to that conclusion...

Is it just me or has Kojak sunbathed a bit too much, I can remember him being a bit whiter back in the day....

And about Honeymooners cast, it does seem to suck but Eric Stoltz is a good actor

Because some idiotic white people think it will make up for slavery.

:y:

It only works when done right.. Like, I think Mos Def will be perfect as Prefect, etc..

(even though the book never specified race)

When has that ever happened.

Well, I may have stated it incorrectly, but my point is that if a white actor / actress was picked to play Shaft, George Jefferson, JJ Evans, Fat Albert, Foxy Brown, Erkel, or Blank Man ( :shifty: ), a majority of the 'black' community would be upset with that and say that whites are trying to jump into their culture, etc.

The original "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" it was a white family meeting a daughter's black boy friend methinks..

That's just a stupid assumption you are making.

Yes. It should be a huge insult they have Ashton Kutcher trying to play a Sidney Poitier role.

But no one really cares that much. New adaption, the director can do what they want. Maybe the casting of black actors in this new film is to distance it as much as possible from the image of the original TV series.

Or maybe all the actors were casted for their acting skills and you guys are just a bunch of racists who can't look past the color of their skin.

So two movies chnge the race of the characters and now everyone is black nowadays? Do you know how many times in movies that characters that are meant to be black end up going to white actors? Give me a fucking break. When that dumbass Kutcher played the role of one of the greatest actors of all time, Sidney Poitier, no one in the "black" community said shit. Cause no one gives a fuck and that's a bigger travesty than the Honeymooners remake any damn way although any movie with Cedric the Entertainer is going to suck balls anyway. And KayFabe, whites have already jumped into the black culture. Ignorant fuck!!!!!

Just a point of fact....

After the Dare Devil film, Marvel artist were asked to start illustrating the Kingpin as a black man. This actually poses a couple different arguements.

You are messing with history. You are taking one of the all time top villans and turning him black for no reason at all. It's not because an actor died, or anything of that nature. They simply want to because Michael Clark Duncan is the only big guy they could get to play the role (May have been that the movie was shit, eh?).

I'm no racist, I don't think that spawn should suddenly have been a white guy in his former life. I just don't agree with changing the history of a character that you did not create, simply because it's convenient.

Just my 2 cents
