View Full Version : Does the WWE listen to the fans at the WRONG time?
Is it just me, or does the WWE listen to the fans at the WRONG time? This comes from the fact that Christian has been getting face pops. In the past few months/year, we have seen two face to heel switches that have semi-worked, but they completely changed their character. John Cena and Randy Orton. Orton started getting face pops... What does WWE do? They turn him. John Cena starts to get face pops. What does WWE do? They turn him.
Orton was a failure, mainly because they turned him so fast and took him away from his cocky/legend killer character. Cena, while he does still get face pops, the WWE has completely wussified him with poop jokes and the like.
My main concern is the face pops that Christian is getting. The WWE has no doubt noticed this. The question is, will the WWE turn him and fuck him up, or will they keep him heel and roll with his popularity as a heel? Which, in turn, would turn him into Stone Cold, where no matter what he does, the fans cheer and love him.

I think he could be more like The Rock instead of Stone Cold, but I agree with what your saying, its like they wait too long.I blame this on the fact that there is too many bookers cos it takes forever to get through ideas...but thats a debate for another thread ;).

Yeah, they'll probably do the wrong thing here. They listen to the fans, but don't comprehend them.
For example: Orton was an over heel. cocky. Evil. A bastard. He got popped. So the WWE thinks that people love Orton, he must be face. So to be face, you have to act in a way that was contrary to what made him big in the first place.
Christian's been getting pops, and could probably make it as a face, but they'll kill him by making him into another Orton'd babyface, bland, generic, and without much to like. As a result...They'll kill him.

The WWE listens to the fans, but they aren't hearing them. Like KK said, they don't always comprehend why the fans are cheering or not cheering.
Example: They seemt to mistake the total apathy that crowds are showing for Chris Masters as legit heat.
Another, lesser mentioned example: Victoria was getting a good fan reaction as a psycho bitch, so a few weeks later she's high-fiving fans and coming out to the ring to cheesy danc emusic.
So there's a good possibility the they'll screw up Christian. The puzzling part of this whole thing is that, when they continue to make the same mistake, it becomes fairly obvious that the writers are not in tune with their vieweing audience or don't know much about wrestling.

Vince: The crowd was totally dead during that match! This can only mean that the fans were in awe of Masters' wrestling talent.
Paul Heyman: Spins in his grave.

He insulted the home town and he barely got a reaction. Maybe next time he can wipe his ass with a picture of the queen or something.

Its one of those simple situations the WWE doesnt get, sometimes...people root for the bad guy, but that doesnt make them a good face, yknow? It also goes with the same situation that some people LOVE to root for the guy chasing the title, but that doesnt mean they would go over as a good champion.

Creative team goes something like this as well.
Heyman: Everyone! Everyone! We should get Triple H out of the main event and bring up some new fresh talent! Mr. Mcmahon, Mr. Mcmahon, I just discovered the WWE has loads of talent we don't even use, oh glorious day!
Vince: Shut up Paul.
Booker1: Yeah, shut up Paul.
Heyman: I mean theres Christian, Edge, Venis and loads of others that we could use and....
Creative team: SHUT UP PAUL!

He could rape the queen and only get a bit of X-PAc heat.

actually what he is saying is that they dont wait long enough. as soon as a wrestler gets pops as a heel, they turn him face.
and another thing...wwe is doing it, and this is a big reason why wwe is ruining wrestling, so as fans we need to stop doing it - STOP LOOKING FOR THE NEXT ROCK OR THE NEXT STONE COLD. Christian got his following by being Christian. we dont want him to be The Rock. that's basically how they ruined Cena.

You misread what i actually meant..i made a post a while back that he was the only one in the WWE that could match The Rock. I don't mean be exactly like The Rock, but more like match him, given all his creativeness and shit, aslong as the WWE doesn't blow this oppotunity.(i think i may of mis-wrote it) Just because we say next, doesnt mean we mean an exact copy, ya get me?

Yea, what KK said up there is what I'm afraid of. That's why last night when you heard the Christian chnats during his match with Tista, I went "Oh fuck," because they will probably turn him face and take away everything that makes him great. They've done it twice with 2 great heels last year and they both suck as faces. (Cena, Orton)
The thing about Christian and you can see it, is the WWE allows him to do his own promos. Yea, they might say "ok touch on this, talk about this," and then he delievers whatever very naturally where you believe a character like his would say that. In an era of scripted promos, that's a brush of relief.

He's natural and believable and he should be a heel because he's good at being a total ass.
