BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Philadelphia Flyers star Jeremy Roenick took out his frustration on referee Blaine Angus.

Roenick was thrown out of the Flyers' 6-2 loss to Buffalo on Tuesday night game after receiving a gross misconduct and an unsportsmanlike conduct penalties with less than six minutes to go.

Curtis Brown had two goals and Mika Noronen made 35 saves for the Sabres, 2-1-1 in their last four games.

Chris Drury added a goal and two assists, Jason Botterill had a goal and an assist.

Daniel Briere and Chris Taylor also scored for the Sabres, who have earned points in nine of their last 12 games since snapping a seven-game losing streak.

Roenick, who was high-sticked earlier in the game by a teammate, caught another high stick to the face in the third, but this time by a Sabre.

Angus told Roenick he did not see the play, which caused Roenick to erupt. His mouth bloodied, Roenick threw a water bottle at Angus and was ejected.

``NHL, wake up!'' Roenick said. ``Blaine Angus is standing right in front of me and he says he doesn't see it. What is he looking at? The National Hockey League has to step in and tell these guys to open up their eyes.''

Roenick continued by calling the officiating ``terrible, absolutely terrible. Blaine Angus did an absolutely terrible job.''

Philadelphia is 0-4-1-1 in its last six game, and has been outscored 22-8 during the stretch.

``It's a tough time for the organization and us,'' Flyers coach Ken Hitchcock said. ``Playing teams and not winning games gets frustrating at times.''

Philadelphia has just three wins in its last 18 games, but still has a three-point lead over New Jersey in the Atlantic Division.

``We need to battle up the standings and come together as a team,'' said Brown, who had his first two-goal game of the season and 11th multigoal game of his career. ``They have a good team and Mika came up with big saves when we needed them.''

Kim Johnsson and Tony Amonte scored for Philadelphia, which hasn't won in its last six games in Buffalo (0-5-1).

``This is unlike our hockey club,'' Hitchcock said.

The Flyers unravelled in the third after Briere and Botterill scored power-play goals 21 seconds apart to make it 5-2 after Philadelphia defenceman Chris Therien received a five-minute major and a game misconduct for spearing.

Philadelphia started the game in good shape, scoring just 2:43 in Johnsson's slap shot. Drury, though, tied it just eight seconds later with a wrist shot that got past goalie Jeff Hackett.

Amonte gave Philadelphia a 2-1 lead at 9:50 of the first with his 12th of the season, but Brown tied it with his first of the game just over four minutes later.

Philadelphia scored two goals in the first period for the second time in 21 games, while it was the first time the Sabres had two first-period goals since Nov. 5 against Atlanta.

``They scored two minutes into the game and you can't be happy,'' Noronen said. ``I had to wake up and realize it's not practice.''

Brown's eighth of the season put Buffalo up 3-2 with 1:43 remaining in the second. After Drury let go a slap shot from the top of the left circle, Brown slid home the rebound following Hackett's pad save.

``We knew we had to go out hard in the third period and we did,'' Brown said.

Taylor capped the scoring at 13:01 of the third.

Hackett finished with 19 saves for the Flyers.

JR and Joe Thornton could form a team against the refs in the NHL

That's especially funny because it was just last week that he took a Mark Recchi slapshot in the face during practice.

Cut him for about 33 stitches I think.

<font color="#ccffcc">

the flyers looked like cup contenders earlier in the season but now, i dunno. they're probably just frustrated. seeing that water bottle skip along the ice was pretty funny though.

I watched the Pitt/Phi game on ESPN on monday and they kept interviewing Roenick. I couldn't even listen to what he said because I kept thinking "damn he looks bad." I guess just a day later it got even worse.
