I'm just wondering if there are ANY wrestlers who have actually announced their retirement on TV, as opposed to being released, moving to a different promotion or being forced out due to injury.

I know Bret Hart came close to it, but we all know why that didn't happen.

Mick Foley and Dean Malenko have definitely retired (Mick for now, at least).

The Rock retired too. ;) But that's just because he's gay

If I remember correctly, Ricky Steamboat is the only guy who went in the ring and retired and actually stayed retired.

Bret Hart had no choice once he got the concussions. He would have done the retirement speech had WCW not released him.

Foley retired, but he keeps coming back.

Austin I guess. Never announced retirement, Bischoff said he was a liability.
