Fluite "comes home" with him being signed to back up Tom Brady/possibly be the 3rd string QB behind Davey. Good stuff. Flutie is the fucking man. Hopefully he only sees the field in mop up duty though. This now just makes the Patriots so much better then your favorite team it's ridiculous. Also Flutie owns the CFL, so now all Candians should become Pats fans.

Damn, I thought he had retired.

Great signing by the Patriots, I wish the Giants woulda taken him since out of all of their 3 possible backup QBs, one is now getting surgery and lost for 3-4 months (Jim Miller), one is too busy with Hollywood (Jesse Palmer), and one is 275 lbs and more likely to play as a blocking TE that they need (Jared Lorenzen). Ah well, Vinny Testaverde here we come. :(

Jesse Palmer is the back up QB for the Giants, Jim Miller will never play again. He's been "out due to surgery" for like the last 4 years

Just like they were gonna go undefeated last year, and how the baby leafs were gonna beat the moose, or how the Maple Leafs are always gonna win the stanley cup... I don't wanna say kiss of death... but come on

I never said they suck for losing two.. I was just pointing out that Gertner is always about teams and then they never live up to anything he says.

Well he was right about them winning

Gertner is good taste in football, horrible taste in all other sports.

I never said he was wrong about them winning, I said he was wrong about them going undefeated :p

But he also said they would win it all last year too, which they did. So the Gernet effect has no effects on the Pats

Patriots > Gertner

Doug Flutie is now the only good thing about the Patriots.

As a CFL fan I must admit that this sucks from a fans perspective. There were talks of Doug and his brother Darren signing with the Ti-Cats in Hamilton. Even though Doug is getting pretty old, he would have increased attendance and interest throughout the league if he returned. It would also have allowed the fans a chance to pay their respects to the greatest CFL player ever.

I sure hope he somehow finds his way in the line up with the Patriots. Stima you are correct that the Pats just got themselves a bunch of Canuck fans. Even if you were not a fan of the Lions, Stampeders or Argos in the CFL you couldn't helped but cheer for Fluties return to the States to prove all the nay sayers wrong. He also legitimized our league as well in my book.

Another great quality of Doug's has always been his composure in and out of the locker room. I hope he gets a chance to play some for NE this year.

I wouldn't have wanted to play in Hamilton either :shifty: :D

in 3 years when Flutie is 45 he could still come back to canada and play if he wanted to.

I don't see Flutie coming back to the CFL, as much as I'd like to think he would. Why would he? He did everything he could up here already. With the NFL money he's making nowadays, even as a backup's backup, he's financially set.

For fun

He was CFL bound if New England didn't offer. He doesn't need money - hes already financially set. Patriots where the only NFL team Doug was intrested in. He even stated it himself numerous times. He was going up to Canada to "have some fun" with his brother.

I'm not sure what the rationale was behind Hamilton being the city. I do believe there were talks about him coming to Ottawa. It wouldn't have made sense though with Joseph (a star on the rise IMO) as our starting quarterback.

It would be great after his fun in NE that he come up for one more season. Who knows? He may like being home, but Flutie is a competitor.

Hmmm.

Well kudos to him then. Like I said, I'd have liked to see him to another CFL stint.
