Okay at Wrestlemania Edge won the money in the bank ladder match which gives him a title match in the next year. So why is he now in a tournament to determine the number one contender? It just makes zero sense to me.

the storyline they used last night was if he wins he has 2 guaranteed title shots which is dumb as hell cause since edge now sucks in the ring 1 title shot is bad enough

What dont you get?
Edge won a contract for a title shot at any time he wants. That doesnt make him the number one contender. It just means he gets a title shot.
Plus, if hes in the tournament, and he wins, he gets an extra title shot.

I was surprised he won...I thought he would be there just to be beaten

^They need to make him look strong so making him lose in the first round would be stupid. And no surprise who the jobber was goiong to be either really was it?
We all know the real reason though, they have no other real contenders to put in the tournament.

Why does it feel like this thread was started by Todd Grisham...last night?
I don't see why all of these people are saying that Edge sucks in the ring. He's rather quick and agile, executes moves properly, and tells a decent enough story in the ring. I also don't have any problems with his mic work. Am I watching some Bizarro tv that you guys aren't?

Yeah, Just because he's the one guy who makes Goldberg's spear not look sloppy, or the fact that he hit an incredibly weak looking "Edgecution" last night, the fact that he has no personality, or that you have to rely on "storytelling" as a vague generic method which you can accredit it to...
No, I'm pretty sure I'm watching the same shows and matches the fans in the audience are, and they've been booing him almost since his return, even when he was a face (And before the whole Lita thing was revealled, just so we can try and herd off any claims that he's only getting such shit because of THAT...)
Though he is a good storyteller. Bedtime, that is. He's boring enough to make me want to nap.

Edge lost alot of respect because of the Lita thing

He hit a weak looking edgecution one night. Wow. It normally appears pretty good to me. And yeah his spear isn't that great, but he doesn't rely on three moves like Goldberg did, so perhaps he hasn't had time to perfect it yet
His mic work is also not as bad as people say, and it is probably average but gets the job done. As for your storytelling argument, I think he sets a decent tempo in his matches, they flow rather well, and although he is not among the greatest technical wrestlers today, he really isn't all that bad of a wrestler.

He hit a weak looking edgecution one night.
Wow. I gave a specific example, and you focus on it instead of the fact that I said he was the WORST SPEAR IN THE BUSINESS inasmuchas he makes Goldberg's look good.
Is it me, or is this the general sum total of your arguments?
I'd reply to the rest of your argument, but it's pretty hard to argue statements such as "he's not as bad as people say he is." Because obviously you're already at odds with popular opinion, and you don't really put up much of any basis. You argument it more or less a "no he's not" argument.
And this is why I disagree with half of what you post in here. And should probably disagree with the other half.

Obviously, I'd only bring up last night because I feel it's the only time he's ever made the move look weak.
Edge is more or less on par with Goldberg in moveset, with the real difference being that you're trying to downplay one limited moveset in favor of another one. And let's face it, some of the best wrestlers in the business had movesets where you could stereotype them down to a couple three moves. The same argument was made for the Rock (So I guess he's as bad as Goldberg, even though he made his moves look better), someone recently made the argument about BRET FUCKING HART, etc., etc.,
WEAK'D.
But I suppose Quantity makes up for Quality. Because those moves Edge pulls off are so hard. The Spear should look like someone shit their pants and then fell on their opponent, and the Edgecution should like like it hurts as much as a skinned knee. I mean, these are highly difficult, luchadore moves and it's amazing that Edge can perform the moves in his moveset at all. OMGWTFBBQSAUCE

But I do eagerly await him perfecting the incredibly difficult spear. Judging from the improvements he's made in the 5-ish years he's used it, I expect that we should see a decent spear out of him by WM 50.
Hey, he'll finally surpass the work of a man widely regarded as a sloppy worker, Bill Goldberg. Maybe if he lives to the ripe old age of 90, he'll get one or two GREAT ones too.
LOL Kane Knight, blowing up little insignificant things to make them sound so convincing. You are definitely a master debator (hot pun) and I cannot compete with your skills, but I still don't see all the need for the constant Edge bashing.
Not sure if you could tell or not, but I put a ":p" right after I mentioned Edge not getting enough practice using his spear, indicating a joke. Edge normally executes the Edgecution pretty well in my opinion. I did admit that his spear is weak in comparison to others, and he should probably use the Edgecution of the Edgucator more as a finisher instead.
I don't see where this limited moveset that you speak of is, however. I did state previously that he's not even close to Chris Benoit or Kurt Angle in terms of technical wrestling, but he does have a varied moveset and is nowhere close to the limited movesets of guys like Goldberg and John Cena. His TLC matches in the past have been quite awesome, and matches with Guerrero and Angle have also been quite good. Now you can simply say that those guys put him over because they are so amazing, but in essence it is all a matter of opinion.
You don't like Edge's style and you think he's bland, while I think he's not all that bad in the ring and he gets the job done on the mic. I think he should definitely stay heel because he's not very good as a face, as you previously mentoned. I guess we'll just wait and see what happens when (and if) he does end up with the title.

I doubt this will happen, but if he loses the tournement he could use the money if the bank contract to get a match with batista/new champ straight after the match.
On a slightly differnet note, when do you guys think he'll use the contract?

Just thought of something..
If Christian does get the WHC, then Edge will challenge him, and win..
More than likely.

Allow me to explain this bit of strategy that Edge used in a metaphore that I think is a little simpler.
Have you ever had a girlfriend who thinks she has to give you some stupid coupon book with corny crap in it? Most of it is full of crap she wants to do, like one free walk in the park, one free pass go to some crappy musical, etc....but at the end of the book there's one coupon for a free night of make-up sex. Now, at first, you might think to use it after your first arguement...but after a while you think, "You know, I think this is one of those arguements that can be bought off with some flowers..." So when you had the coupon there the whole time, you instead decided to save it and try the flowers first. If the flowers don't work...use the damn coupon.

LOL Mayo, downplaying the fact that it was commentary on his ring skills (Oh, obviously an insignificant aspect of wrestling) to try and pretend he has an argument. GOLD.

As I said in the RAW thread, they're probably going to go Kane/Edge in the finals with Lita turning on Kane. With the planned heel turn by Lita it somewhat makes sense. At least we're more likely to get the "YOU SCREWED MATT" chants in one segment rather then two every week.

why cant people realize that Edge hasnt been good in the ring since he was with Christian. Christian made them and still is the man. Edge has no credibility and there is no reason to have him on top. Considering the athlete and type of worker that Shelton is and even though hes older and past his prime, Shawn Michaels can work a better match and interview than Edge anyday. So edge sucks and get lick my balls

They have:
Vince: He's low talented, weak on the mic, and makes Hunter look good.
Hey Hunter? I think we've got another main eventer...
