Steve Nash, NBA MVP

First time ever a non Yank has won this award I do believe(?)

Hopefully there's a ripple effect from this. Like when Larry Walker won the MLB MVP, baseball enrollment in Canada jumoed quite a bit. So yeah, hopefully the same thing happens for basketball.

I don't really like baketball.

Probably Larry Bird, but im not a Bball fan so I dunno.

Nash owns the NBA. 2 Canucks in the league and we take the top prize. If we had the same population as the states did you know we'd own every sport going.

Anyways, congrats Nash.

Only other player I enjoy watching if I have to is Kobe.

Granted they have gotten a lot better with Nash, the development of Amari Stodemire has something to do with it too. Nash is a great player though and does deserve the MVP because of the turn around with the Suns. He's a true PG and is perfect for the Suns personal. Run run run and no defense haha - If you were starting a team though, the 1st player anybody would want would be Shaq, but the MVP isn't always about that.

Oh yeah last white player to win the MVP was Larry Bird (represent) for the 83-84, 84-85, 85-86 seasons

I don't get why people give AI MVP potential this year. He got his act together and worked his ass off, but when it all comes down to it he still shoots too much and too low percentage to ever win big.

Larry Legend

If Dirk Nowitski hustled and played defense he could be a MVP like Larry Legend.

The fact that Phoenix was shit without Nash when he was injured justifies this award to me. It is not about who the best or most dominant player is, it is about who is the most valuable player to his team is.

You can't tell me any of the people who voted for Nash would ever trade Shaq straight up for him. If you could, I guess there is a GM position in Toronto waiting for them.

I understand the pissing and moaning about Shaq not winning, but I think that guards are too often overlooked in the voting. AI deserved more respect as well. Nash with his smart play and amazing passing ability made his teamates much better. It may not be as amazing to some as scoring almost 30 points per game, but it definitely should not be ignored like it always seems to be when it comes to these awards.

Theres no whining and moaning that Shaq didn't win.:wtf: Well at least not from anyone that really matters. The NBA players, Shaq included, stated Nash deserved it.

I was listening to Fox Sports Radio and some of the on air personalities were pissing and moaning about it. It seems that people on this board are smart enough to see that Nash is a deserving winner.

The Shaq interview was priceless.

Took a Canadian about 60 years to finally win MVP :D :D :D :D!!!!!!

Nash is probably the worst defender to ever win it, Jason Terry drove around him a million times last night but he just ran into a wall named Amare. Nash won it because of his assists and getting people involded - he dropped 12 dimes last night

If you wanna talk most valuable player... Allen Iverson would get my vote. Best player of the year...Nash would definetly be considered.I honestly wouldnt consider Shaq. He's dominant but was he the best?

As i'm thinking about this. I concede. Nash was probably the best player of the year, but think about this for a moment... Look at all the talent nash had around him. Its easy to be amazing and win some games when you are a non-selfish player and you pass the ball like Stockton. If John Stockton was Nash's age and was on the Suns right now he would average , probably 18 assist a game. No joke. I just think that if you took Nash away from the Suns, they would still be in the playoffs. If you took Iverson off the Sixers... They would be on the clock right now( barring a upset ping ball or 2)

I seriously think Allen Iverson is gunna be one of the greatest players ever to live when he retires. I pray this guy gets some help around him ( Not a one legged Chris Webber) and wins a Championship( though i'll root for the Pacers reguardless ). I also think he was the NBA's most valuable player this year. Comon, Kyle Korver? Thats his second scorer/ go to guy/ partner in crime.. comon. Was Wally Zerbiak not available for trade or something? Kyle Korver is the worst 2nd punch in the NBA. O i know. Lets get Aaron McKey out there. He'll defend somebody and average 3 points. Where's George Lynch??? Comon. Iverson carried that team period. He should have been considered before Shaq . Before Nash? I dunno, but he should be considered alot more.

Iverson's only chance at a championship is to sign a cheap contract with a really good team when he is about to retire.

Rectal Pertruder, did you already forget what the Suns' record was last year?

The Outlaw

I would definately throw AI in the MVP category. He has improved his PPG, shooting percentage, 3 point percentage, assists, blocks, rebounds, stayed the same in steals. And if you look at it closely, his shooting attempts haven't skyrocketed or anything. He has did a good job this year of getting his guys around him better and getting them the ball. Yeah he shoots a lot, but if he didn't where would the Sixers be? At least he gets his teammates involved, unlike other guys who shoot all the time.
