He is a decent midcarder and may become better with time, but he's one of the worst midcard champions I've seen in a long time... He's simply not entertaining and the fans don't buy his routine... He doesn't get much mic time and is constantly in non-title matches on Velocity against the likes of Scotty 2 Hotty... He's a dreadful champion and it's hurting the credibility of the brand...

SmackDown! has far better options for United States champions and Orlando has to drop the belt soon... I remember days when Davey Boy Smith would wrestle Bret Hart in classics for the IC title and days when there were classic DDP-Sting matches for the US title...

On SmackDown!, things need to change... There are many other better options for champions:

Big Show - isn't gunning for the WWE title anytime soon and this could be a way to keep him in the spotlight

Carlito - solid newcomer, great mic work, really over, one of the better reasons to watch SmackDown!

Booker T - the guy deserves a main event push, but if he's not working the main event, adding the US title to a feud like Booker-Angle certainly gives the title some credibility

Charlie Haas - this guy is getting buried to shits and although I don't mind the Holly/Haas team as much as some people, they are simply given no exposure so they can't get over, this guy needs to be traded to RAW for a true run

Rey Mysterio - hasn't one the title yet and it gives an Eddie-Rey feud a lot more interest with a title involved

Eddie Guerrero - really over right now with his recent heel turn, no need to rush him back into the main event scene, he can use the belt if the feud with Rey lasts a while

Chavo Guerrero - a cruiserweight, however he's that much better than Jordan... Chavo-London and matches like that for the CW championship is fine with me, though

Matt Morgan - this guy looks huge and delivers solid power moves... If he's going to get over upon his debut, giving him the title is a good idea, however he's definitely not one of my first choices

Rene - he's buried and is a tag-team wrestler, but he's still better than Jordan... Bring Sylvain to SD!, reform La Resistance, send Haas to RAW, and let Conway and Haas shine on their own or even as a team since both are similar technical wrestlers

JBL - when his feud with Cena is over, he should get involved in the US title picture to pave the way for Cena-Christian and similar main event feuds after the brand lottery

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

All these guys are better options for United States champion at this point... Hopefully they don't make him drop the belt to someone like Heidenreich because then it gets from bad to worse... Things need to change dramatically, though...

I concur. Orlando really isn't a good champion at all.

At least when Orton was IC champ he got microphone time and a character.

Orlando is just "that guy with JBL".

Personally I'd give it to Carlito again and let him enjoy a long reign.

yeah, credibility of the US title is gone cuz of him. WWE was doing things right with that title, then they hand it to orlando who doesn't even mention he's the US champion, sometimes i forget that belt even exists.

credibility for the US title was so high with the cena/carlito and cena/booker feuds, and then they just put it on orlando to make room for the WWE title on cena :nono:

I like Carlito, but I wouldn't give him the belt right now. You don't want to have him do everything in a short span. He's over enough right now with the Cabana, that he don't really need the title right now. I'd give it to Rey or Eddie personally.

Orlando is one of the worst heels I've seen too. Is it me, or does he make a Triple H promo look interesting?

He's entertaining in the ring, but not so much as to make up for his lack of heel-ness.

I actually like Orlando, but I have to admit that his US title reign kinda sucks, mostly because of lack of air-time/mic-time

What are you talking about?

He's on Velocity all the time. :shifty:

I don't like Orlando as a wrestler, mic worker, and certainly not champion. Chavo should have it.

How many title defences has he made on Smackdown, something like one? And I'm sure that ended in DQ.

I have 3 guys who I think should be US champ.

My first choice is Rey Mysterio. Assuming he's still on SD after the draft, I would have him win the US title. I'm guess Eddie will beat him at JD, so Rey will need something to bring him back up, US title would be perfect.

Second is JBL. JBL makes an awesome heel champion,a nd sinc ehe wont be getting back the WWE title at JD, I think making him US Champ would be a great move. JBL could talk about how the WWE title is garbage because Cena has made it a laughing stock, so now the US title is the top prize on SD. I think it would be cool to see OJ come out after JD as US Champ, and then JBL expects him to hand over the title, OJ doesn't, so they have a match, JBL wins, and gets the title.

The final option would be if Christian comes over from RAW to make him US champ. Doing this would keep him away from Cena right off the bat. Since I dont think they are going with Christian as Cena's next program, he will need something to put him in the spotlight, but not quite in Cena's crosshairs.

I think they should have alot of former World Champs go for the US title. Make it seem like it means a lot. I remember back in ECW, the TV had (at times) more value then the World Title. The fueds for it where so incredible and they always had big name guys who just of easily could have been World Champs hold the belt. Have guys like Angle, Booker, Show, JBL, and Undertaker go for the US title. Hell they all have a reason to want it...have the World Title picture be the Cenas, the Christians, the Guerreros of SmackDown! I don't know why, I just love it when the secondary title in many ways gets more attention then the World. Remember when Bill held the US title over in WCW? Austin with the IC belt. Hel even 2 years ago...with Randy holding the IC Title, in many ways I cared more about the IC title and his battles with Foley then I did with Triple H's battles with Benoit and Michaels.

Orlando Jordan makes JBL's title reight look like Bruno Samartino's.

The US Title was doing so well with Cena until that crap job. I agree with Cynick... put it on Rey (after he's done with Eddie). Seriously... OJ has no credibility, no ring ability, and not enough mic ability to compensate (like JBL at least).

Why did you name every main superstar on smackdown besides Angle? JBL for the IC title? Booker T for the IC title? Eddie for the IC title? WTF YOU SMOKING (sorry if this was posted already, I am to lazy to read all the replies)

Orlando isnt a very credible champion.
Has he even actually defended it since winning it?.

I hate OJ. He pretty much can't wrestle in the ring and doesn't speak, which would indicate that the WWE don't believe he could hold his own on the mic.

Let's just say there are MANY other choices that would be better as US Champ; Guerrero, Angle, Booker, Rey, JBL, etc.....

Jordan has potential, but, hasn't shown anything yet. His character is shallow to say the least. Carlito Carribean Cool is another suitable replacement. He's much better on the mic and can actually wrestle.

Remember the good ole WCW days when the US Title meant something?

Angle as a US champ would be the last straw. I would boycott the WWE forever.

There's nothing wrong with former world champs going for the US title.

Its supposed to be the second most important title on the brand, if you're not the WWE champ, your goal should be that title.

For a guy like JBL its perfect because he can claim to be the top dog, and conveniently steer clear of Cena, who he cant beat.

I think JBL's gimmick would fit the US title like a hand in a glove. Think about it, he is the American Dream...he made something of himself. He is what is RIGHT with America. The rest of the World is filled with terrorists and Euro-Trash...JBL is the light that shines as bright as the American Dream....

JBL is WWE's top heel if he isnt feuding for the WWE Title then he needs a main event feud with someone like HBK, Undertaker, or Rey Jr.. JBL is a marketable superstar, he needs to stay on top so in the future he will be a buyable contenter for anyone JBL, Angle, Eddie, etc....

However as far as the US Title goes, Chavo's "heavyweight" style he used in his match with Rey Jr. on Smackdown! really showed me a lot. Chavo could really go with anyone, cruiserweights or heavyweights. It would be awesome if Chavo was built up as a big time cheating heel and held the title for a year or so.

Angle is going to be the top heel in the summer.

And JBL can still be pushed as a main event guy, just now, so would the US title, which would be a good thing.

Being the US title doesn't have to mean you are in the mid card.

Like I said, JBL wont be going for the title after May, so he needs something to do, US title seems like a perfect fit.
