I agree, they did the right thing. The whole purpose was to tick us off. That just made me want to order the ECW PPV which I had doubts of doing before. I was just thinking of getting it on DVD later, but I don't know if I can wait that much longer.

Mostly because it was just a WWE "hardcore match." Tajiri and Beniot never did that garabage wrestling in ECW.

I was somewhat peeved at it, but we can look at this from a point of view that can also hype the draft coming up, or at least an ongoing rivalry between the two brands.
Do it so that Theodore Long on this week's SmackDown watched Eric Bishoff ban ECW from his show or whatever, and he is deciding that now is the chance to get one up on RAW by sanctioning a ECW style match on SmackDown (or by making the Eddie vs. Rey match at Judgment Day a ECW rules match, to kill THREE birds with one stone, since that would hype the ECW PPV, sell the Eddie vs. Rey match and boost Judgment Day buyrates, and further along this idea). And then, to top that, also say that anyone who is on RAW who wishes to be a part of the ECW PPV can jump to SmackDown (or something of the sort) to escape the "ban". Eric could counter the SD move by lifting the ban, but it'll be too late to calm Paul Heyman, who is as pissed as ever and makes his move on RAW.
I think the door is wide open to try SOMETHING to hype the ECW PPV on SD. Eddie and Rey used to be ECW talent, so that part could really work, I think. Anyone else agree?

You know, if I was booking for WWE ( Which could only do them good.) I'd tease the Mysterio vs Eddie G. match at Judgement day, only to have Teddy Long come out and say he can't let it happen because Rey is injured, and the chances of the two men hurting each other is to high. This could prompt Paul Heyman to come out, and announcing that Eddie Vs Rey would happen at the ECW ppc, wether Long liked it or not. That gives a match to the ECW that already has a huge build up. It could suck in more of the casual fans who are on the ropes about the whole ECW idea.

Totally random suggestion that could very well flop, but wouldn't it be cool if they sorta recreated the beginning of the ECW invasion from a few years ago, in that the EC-dub guys sort of mutiny against Bischoff one night?
It wouldn't be the exact same as the runin on Kane/Jericho vs Storm/Awesome, but the gist of it would be similar. Then have Heyman cut a killer promo.
I can dream...

If I ordered the Judgment Day PPV, Eddie vs. Rey would've been the match that I would've paid to see. If the WWE just canceled it just to hype up the ECW PPV, I'd be majorly pissed that the company took my hard earned money away from me. I personally don't think it's a good idea to screw around with PPV cards to hype up another PPV.

True. If the PPV is full of 'garbage wrestling' or whatever else Vince thought that ECW was about then you can forget it, I'm not buying it. I'll only consider it if it's true to what ECW was really about - intense wrestling with the odd chairshot or table smash to boot (with the exception of Baldies and New jack matches). Some of the best ECW matches were ones that didn't involve tables, chairs or ladders.
And if so much of a stop-sign or trash-can appears then I swear I'll fly over to Titan towers and...

Yes I wanted to see the match....but I liked what they did.
They teased it a little showing that it was a good match and right before the big ending to it they came out and stopped it. They just wanted to give people a little taste of what to see. Now hopefully when they do put the ppv together that is really how they do it. They have it as kick ass as it used to be. No watered down crap.

damb! I really wanted to watch that match, because i never saw ECW is it all just hardcore?
Seeing Benoit going for that headbutt off the ladder to get "the Buzzsaw" through the table had me at the edge of my sofa!
but the F***in stoped the match. should i buy ECW on PPV?

NO NO NO NO NO!
Like i said above, ECW was more than just the crap 'garbage or hardcore wrestling' that's on WWE tv now. It was some of the most intense matches witnessed that side of the pacific.
To compare what Hardcore Holly does on Smackdown to what people like Jerry Lynn, Super Crazy, RVD, Lance Storm and the Franchise did in Philly is an insult.
There was the odd garbage match, which if done right could be entertaining (Rhino and Sandman from Heatwave 2000 is a fine example), but it was more than that. I just hope the One Night Stand PPV reflects ECW properly.

Eh, have Long say is the card before the ppv then :)
