View Full Version : Is it just me who's tired of the dudleys?

The dudleys were entertaining circa ECW, but now their table act is getting very lame and boring. People keep going on about 17 time tag champs, so they're the greatest tag team off all time. But if they won the belts 17 times, they've lost them 17 times. The bottom line is that the dudleys current act sucks.

I agree. The whole "call-and-response" thing ("D-Von!" "What?" "Get the tables!") is way old, and their weapon of choice has become more popular than they are.
The way to make them interesting, in my mind, would be to deny the fans tables. Turn them heel. I know it's been done before, but the fans might actually have an interest in the in-ring action if they're not waiting for the inevitable table spot. They're both moderately-good workers, and have put on some entertaining matches, but they're so overshadowed by the tables that nobody really cares about Bubba and D-Von anymore.

I don't watch,but I'm tired of hearing about The Dudley's.
I think that they have served their purpose as far as WWE goes,
but if the general population likes them, than :y: :y: keep 'em.
Also, the fact they they've held 17 (or however many) Tag Titles
can't make them the greatest tag team ever (which they aren't).
Wrestling is all a work; it's not like they are 17 time World Boxing
Champions (and even that is worked alot more than recognized).
A win-loss record in wrestling has nothing to do with "legendary"
or "greatest of all time" status; if it did, guys like Terry Funk, Ric
Flair and others would not be legends; as they've layed down on
MANY MANY occasions.

I agree that the dudleys have gotten completely stale. Loopydate has probably the best idea for them. I think they should turn heel and be complete badasses. Let Bubba on the mic and let them loose. The only problem is that Tag Team wrestling sucks now a days. I don't remember the last time I enjoyed a tag match.
However, I would like to see them put HHH through a table like Bubba promised would one day happen to the Game (remember that awesome promo?)

Well, the whole tag team scene kinda sucks in the WWE currently. Most of its teams are just two rookies thrown together.
The last tag team match I saw, which I liked was between the Dudleyz vs Cade & Jindrak. I remember Bubba and Cade's chain wrestling had me popping huge, the Dudley's were working stiff that night. But then any momentum just died.
I think, unless theres a new hot tag team, the Dudley's days in the WWE are numbered. But then again, it seems like the WWE are blind/deaf to what the fans want. So, I wouldn't doubt it if they just kept using the Dudleys the same way for another year or two.

For one thing, I don't think "Tattle tale" is a verb."
More to the point, you're welcome to your opinion, it just seems that you wait until everyone has weighed in on a subject before you come in with a contradictory opinion, just to rile people up. You did it with Angle, you did it with Benoit, you're doing it with the Dudleys.
I bet you I could start a subject about how much I like the universe, and you would post "The universe is overrated. Why does it have to be so damn big? Does it have a big ego or something?" That's classic troll behavior.
For all I know, you could be a Dudley fan and you could legitimately dislike Kurt Angle. However, you've never posted anything on these boards that leads me to believe that those are your true feelings and that you're not just trying to stir up trouble.
That, my friend, is the classic definition of a troll.
And, just so you know, I'm not going to the mods about it. If they haven't banned you yet, there's nothing I can do that will sway their opinion over yet another trolling post. I just hope you say something truly stupid and offensive like sexymanalive did and get yourself banned for that.

I haven't liked the Dudleys ever since they turned face after the whole 'Alliance' thing ended. Spike should turn on them and say they have been holding him back his whole career. That would be something fresh. Spike could get a bodyguard of some sorts to protect him and Spike would hide behind him but talk all tough to other wrestlers while his bodyguard was around. Spike could also be a heel that does sneak and run attacks on the baby faces. During a Dudley Boys match, Spike could run down with a chair, clip Bubba's leg and run off into the crowd. Stuff like that.

That would be interesting LC. Bring in one of the OVW monsters ('cause we all know how Vince has a...um...penchant for big guys), and have him be the Diesel to Spike's 1994 HBK.

This is a discussion forum, whether you like it or not people will express opinions however they wish. If you don't like it, just ignore people's opinions. Yeesh.
If I want to like the Dudleys, I will.
Not everyone in the world have to have the same taste in wrestling.
I do not have to jump on the HHH hating, Hoss hating and technical loving bandwagons. Not every wrestling fan do.
I can express who ever I want to like in wrestling. So do yourself a favor and shut the **** up and ignore opinions if you don't like them. :n:

I don't take your opinions personally. Show me where I said that.
I'm merely pointing out that I've never seen you post anything that wasn't a complete contradiction of what the majority of posters were saying. A logical mind would conclude that someone who has never once agreed with popular sentiment is actually going against these things because they are popular sentiment and is, therefore (in message board lingo), a troll.
Again, if you can show me just once where you didn't post something completely contradictory to what had been said previously, I will eat crow and let you be. Until then, you will remain a troll in my eyes.
And I'm entitled to my opinion, right? If you take my opinions personally, you have some issues and need some counseling. ;)

Sure, if we accept that you all hate HHH, hosses, Goldberg, Hogan, and Nash, then you should be man enough to accept our opinions too. If you all have all your right to hate who ever wrestler you want, then we get to have our right to hate any wrestler we want as well.
The way you guys act in these boards is ridiculous.
What I speak on wrestling in these boards is the truth of how I feel about the product. I don't have to have the same opinions like others.
So exactly how is that being a troll? I fail to see how expressing your likes and dislikes in wrestling is a troll?

This will be my last post on the subject, because, honestly, I feel like I'm spamming the boards responding to your shit.

Problem is, they have no real tag teams.... I mean, Flair and Batista... come'on...
I don't think the Tag division will ever recover to be honest... it will eather be rookies (WGTT, Jindrak/cincade) or Vets thrown together because they don't like each other, or to get a heel/face turn over (Angle & Benoit, Benoit & Cena)
Or guys they have nothing else to do with... (Rikishi & Scotty).
The days of E&C, Hardy's, and other good Tag teams, that that's all they did are over.

Replying to the topic:
The Dudley's are old, but it's not entirely their fault. Frankly, for many months, they WERE the tag division. That's a key recipe for getting stale. If the division actually shifted around and incorporated a lot more teams, the Dudley's wouldn't be as tiresome, even if they used the same gimmick.
I agree that they're much better as destructive heels, but it seems like the WWE is afraid of doing stuff like putting women through tables or whatnot because they'll lose sponsors--this despite their whole attempt at trying to be edgy.
It's as though the company's lost touch with ingenuity. Sure, there are still some great angles (Jericho/Trish, Guerreros Civil War, HHH/HBK, Mick/Orton, John Cena, Benoit's chase), but there used to be a LOT more.

Further proof that WWE needs to hire writers who actually like wrestling.
As an aspiring screenwriter, I've read about how somebody breaks into writing for television.
You submit "spec scripts," which are basically sample scripts (properly formatted) of pre-existing series. For example, if you were applying for a job writing for "The Simpsons," you might send the producers of that show a sample script you wrote for an episode of "Will & Grace" or "That '70s Show" or some other half-hour sitcom that lets them know you understand the formula and understand how to work with pre-existing characters without disrupting the story flow.
That becomes a problem in wrestling, because you get brought on in (what I'm assuming is) a similar fashion, so you're working with pre-existing characters and pre-existing expectations. These writers are, most likely, afraid to rock the boat story-wise because that's not what got them the job in the first place.
A wrestling fan, however, with some writing experience, would know what they like and do not like to see on their wrestling shows and can translate that into how they write. For instance, if they don't like how the Randy Orton/Mick Foley thing is playing out, they can add a new twist to make things more interesting for themselves and their fellow fans.
As long as Vince is insistent on hiring professional writers who do NOT follow wrestling, he's going to keep getting the same stories over and over again, and he'll continue to wonder why people have turned so hard against the Dudleys, Triple H, Steve Austin, and all the other characters we've had shoved down our throats over the last several years.

I seriously think this board is full of teenagers, from the photo album board it sure looks it.
And you'd probably be about right... for once.
Look, let me try to explain this in bulletted terms.
- We do NOT have a problem with you disagreeing with the norm.
- However, your opinions seem to intend discord. They do NOT seem sincere.
- Furthermore, you accuse other people of being hypocritical even though you yourself are.
Examples:
You say other people who take things personally are wrong, but you constantly bring up old topics and arguments, so you yourself are doing the same thing, or at least acting like you take it personally.
You say wrestling fans should enjoy all forms of wrestling and never complain, yet you complain that technical wrestling bores you and you don't like it.
You call other people childish, yet you use the childish term "tattle tale" (which should be "tattle tell" when it's a verb).
- You also dwell on topics way too long. Your constant nagging about your banning is one key example.
In short, we perceive you as a person who purposely intends to annoy the community with your antics.
Now, how can you fix this and not be the hated Dark Kane? It's quite simple.
- Do not constantly preach your "like everything/critics are idiots" rhetoric around the forums. Sure, you can mention it everyone once in a while, but don't do it all the time. It's like you're a missionary on a religious mission to convert everyone into happy drones.
- Do not dwell on old subjects that cannot be changed.
- Tone down the :y: and :n: a bit. Repetiveness CAN get annoying.
- Don't be so stubborn.
- Don't be hypocritical.
- When you have an argument, form valid and concrete support.
- Don't revert to childish insults or whatnot (this goes for everyone) when you argue. Those make even the most valid point seem totally senseless.
It's not that hard, and I'm actually being nice to you for once. Consider this charity.
