I know it's like maaaaaad early and the release date isn't for some time, but I'm so excited about the prospect of the new game that I'm marking out like when Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and Wind Waker came out. Marked out esp. for Ocarina
But anyways, lets discuss the stuff we've read, possible rumours, new aspects etc, whatever you want. *For those who don't want to know anything some story and game, spoiler warning to you*

I was reading an article on Nintendovip with Shigsy, Eiji Aonuma and Koji Kondo (The Music Guy) and they said a few things that I hadn't seen before and thought I would start the discussion with:

So if Link goes into Twilight Hyrule, he becomes a wolf?
Aonuma: Twilight is fuelled by magic power and Link can't exist in his human form in that area. We can't go into details, but it is part of his destiny to become that wolf.

At the beginning of the trailer we see black and white visuals of a castle; is that Hyrule Castle? And if so, what's going on there?
Aonuma: Yep, at the beginning of the trailer you saw Link sucked into this black miasma we call the Twilight… and yes, that is Hyrule Castle, transformed by the Twilight.

So what's with the robe? (Talking about Princess Zelda) Does she have some connection to what’s going on, and to Link's transformation into a wolf?
Aonuma: The robe is based on a Japanese funeral robe. Zelda can't stop Twilight from taking over Hyrule, and her inability to halt Twilight at this point has a definite connection with Link's transformation, but we can't tell you more yet.

Who or what is this character Riding Link in Wolf form?
Aonuma: She is Midna, a resident of the Twilight realm. She has her own motivations and thinks that wolf-Link can help her, so they begin a co-operative relationship.

Other points include:

Link's attacks as a wolf are effected by Midna riding on his back (Which personally I think has something to do with the Red flag/cloth that comes from her head/back.

Koji Kondo talked about that the game will feature Orchestrated music along the way in the game, but only at specific and major parts or where they think the orchestra feel will add to the feel and dynamics of the game.

Zelda

Out before the end of this year. Gonna be awesome. Love how they've added a new gameplay mechanic that doesnt change the game totally.

Can't wait.

This game is going to be awesome, but I doubt it'll be better that OoT, which was pretty much perfection.

Yeah I'm also doubting whether it will be better or as good as Ocarina. Though the thing about that is, the whole timing of Ocarina, it was the first 3D Zelda game as well as it didn't come out that long (around 2 years I think) into the N64's life, so at the time it was cutting edge stuff, along with the graphics, awesome gameplay and storyline.

It could also be an age thing, where when Ocarina come out, you were (like me) at the age when you were into games a hell of a lot (I'm not saying that people still don't at any age, as I'm more into games now than I've ever been) but I've got to that age and skill where I complete every game I buy, and when I look back to old school NES days, I probably never completed a game lol (No matter how hard I tried I just couldn't fucking beat the Turtles game for the NES and probably never will complete it likewise for the original Zelda on NES). To me when playing Ocarina and looking back on it, I think that it's one of the first games I truly involved myself into enough to keep at it and complete it, as well as the timing of the games release, the technology at the time, my age and love for the Zelda games.

Though Twilight Princess will probably better Ocarina in a lot of ways, I'm not seeing it surpass Ocarina in terms of fan favouritism. And although I love Wind Waker and seem to play it more than Ocarina, Ocarina still has that something about it that makes the game and some of the things that happen in game my favourite and most memorable gaming moment of all time.

I think I was 15 or so when OoT came out so I was still at school, and I did'nt have a job, so I had a hell of a lot more spare time to get into the game.
I was talking to someone else at work the other night, and somehow Zelda came up, and he ws raving aabout how good OoT was, and this guy is not a huge gamer. I went home an started a new file, just beat King Dodongo...

Can't f'n wait for this, Zelda > everything.

I didn't beat TMNT on the NES (cleanly :shifty: ) either, for some reason I find NES games really solid to beat now :(

Also I wouldn't say OoT was perfection, it was the best Zelda game, but i'd just like it to be like twice or three times as long, like a Final Fantasy or Secret of Mana game usually is

Although I guess with no levelling up and shit, you can't really have that in a Zelda game :(

King Jericho

Yeah I find a lot of older games, specifically NES games mad hard to beat.

Games inparticular are Solar Jetman, which pissed me off to no end and the Turtles game. I do remember coming right to the end of Zelda on the NES, but I lent it out to a mate who deleted my file. Bastard.

OoT is the best Zelda ever. I lost my cartridge, which suck.

I'd kill for a OoT port to DS. I loved Super Mario 64 DS, and the graphics were eevn better than on the 64. OoT DS would be awesome.

Twilight Princess update:

<b>Zelda Delayed to Next Year
Twilight Princess development team requests extra time to make it a better game.</B>

August 16, 2005 - Nintendo announced this morning that its anticipated new adventure game, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, has been delayed. The title, formerly scheduled to debut this November around the world, has since been postponed to 2006 so that the developer can continue to make the game better.

"After much discussion, the Zelda development team has requested extra time to add new levels, more depth and even higher quality to Zelda: Twilight Princess," said Nintendo of America's vice president of corporate affairs, Perrin Kaplan. "Consequently, we're announcing a new global launch in 2006, after the conclusion of this fiscal year (March 31). We'll provide a specific date at a later point in time. While this may come as a disappointment to many eager fans, it will absolutely enrich the game and make it a multi-million seller."

The whole article can be read here:
http://cube.ign.com/articles/642/642238p1.html

It's pretty crap that it's been moved back to next year as I was soooo looking forward to playing it a lot over Christmas in the holidays, but if it's all for the good of the final game, it worth the wait. Though it's worth the wait anyway.

I actually wish more game developers would do that. *coughSVRcough* Make sure the game is 100% as good as you can make it instead of cutting corners to meet an arbitrary deadline. Zelda fans (like me!) will wait as long as it takes to play the next step forward in the series as long as it delivers great gameplay and story.

I haven't been disappointed yet.

I wish more developers did what Nintendo did and explained why they are delaying it, and then providing more feedback like they did here with screenshots.

Gets rid of those highly annoying people that start bitching about it constantly.

Luckily, no one has done that in this topic yet. Much respect :y:

This is because of the awesomeness that is Zelda, as Loppydate said.

Again, if it's all for the good of the game, then there's no complaints here.

Sorry for bumping this thread but I'm suddenly wanting this game and I was going to make a "hype me up for the new Zelda" thread but thought I'd use this thread (so there is no waste of space).

I read that the release date is May 2006 for the UK. Not sure on the US release but Gamefaqs says Quarter 1 2006 UK and Quarter 2 2006 US.

Anyone got any new information or videos or a solid date of release?

So far, if I'm not mistaken, the pending release date is April 1, 2006, I believe.

Not exactly a video, but it might provide a bit of info. RARELY have I seen EB Games be wrong on a date. It even says that it's not confirmed, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised if that was right, as EB usually is.

The Gamestop stores I've been to on the other hand...Nothing but inaccurate facts. I got so many wrong release dates from GS (Resident Evil Outbreak, RE Outbreak File #2, RE 4, The Matrix: Path of Neo, just to name a few). I'm not sure if it'll affect anything since EB and Gamestop merged, but EBGames has said April 1 - 3 for quite some time now.

I don't have the Magazine and I'm not going to buy it for one interview, so if anyone here buys it regularly, could you let us know what he says? I looked around google for the full interview but couldn't find it.

Oh and I doubt hardcore means topless elfs, Zelda snorting crack and nude scenes. Probably either gore or really tough dungeons etc.

Not too hard. I started one game, got to the second dungeon pretty quickly, but the three days thing lost my interest or something. I guess it's not enough "Zelda-esque" or something. You need to get to the Ghost ship at a certain time in a certain part of the sea, so that it doesn't vanish when you get near it, there's a sea chart telling you where you need to go at a certain point, can't right now remember where you get it, though the Fish Map guy will inform you.

Kapoutman isn't the only person I've heard say that they didn't like Majora's Mask because of the time line aspect. Though really, it doesnt do anything, apart from make you lose you're bombs and arrows, and money if you don't deposit it at the bank. Except from make the temple area's go back to there Majora'd state (i.e poisionous swamp etc) But you can simply step into the temple and fight the boss by standing on the little floor tile thing, so that you can ultimatly 'cure' the temple again.

Like I said, I finished Wind Waker but am I the only one that thinks...*(highlight spoilers) Wind Waker is the last in the series, story wise? I know that there is Twilight Princess soon and I'm sure many more over the coming years but I mean in a "time-line" sense. OoT is set before TP and TP is set before WW and I have a feeling all the others will be set before WW to. in the ending Link smashed the Master Sword through Ganons head and incased him in stone. Then Hyrule was drowned forever. Thats why I think its the end in a time-line sense. Unless, in a Zelda based after WW we see a new bad guy stumble across the Master sword in a stone-Ganons head in a drowned Hyrule. He pulls it out, bringing Ganon to life again and Ganon says he owes his life to the new bad guy and the new bad guy raises Hyrule up from the water using some weird "The Master Sword has secret power" thing. Ganon then becomes the new bad guys underling through the game, until the new bad guy manages to finally turn Hyrule into the big evil place like Ganon always wanted. Then They could have a twist towards the end where Ganon gets fed up of the new bad guy and reveales he just used him to get where they are now then have some big three way Boss fight. Ganon vs Link vs New Bad guy.In the end though, I doubt it and I have a feeling Wind Waker is the end of the story in a Time-line sense.Agree with me about anything I've said?

I know. :p and I know there will be a ton more Zelda games in the future but judging by the ending in WW its the ending to the Zelda story but not the games. TP is based before WW and so is every other Zelda.

On a random note, how come everytime I read any interview with Shiageru Miyamoto he is always whining about how some game or other he made isn't what it should be? He also seems to like bad mouthing westrern gamers by saying we only like games that look pretty and are violent and said that DK country on the SNES sucked because it was all graphics and little else (although the levels where more varied than Mario World IMO and I think he was just jealous because Rare did more with DK on the SNES than he could do with Mario as far as Platformers go).

Did you know they took two dungeons out of WW and rushed the end of the game because of "Time issues"?

Twilight Princess: Ganon's Return
We're preparing more than you could possibly ever, ever, expect, says Nintendo.
by Matt Casamassina

January 24, 2006 - A relatively important morsel of information about the hotly anticipated GameCube adventure The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess appeared in the latest issue of Nintendo Power. The magazine interviewed Nintendo's own Yoshiyuki Oyama, currently working on the new Zelda title, about the project, and while he was overall mum on specifics, he did confirm that long-time nemesis Ganon would be back in full force. More intriguing still, though, was the promise he made about the character.

"No discussion of Twilight Princess' enemies can end without mentioning Ganon," Yoshiyuki said. "I know that everyone's wondering what's going on with Link's old nemesis. All I can say now is, we're preparing more than you could possibly ever, ever, expect."
On a related subject, Yoshiyuki told the publication that he feels previous Zelda outings served up a cast of enemies that were too easily defeated. In contrast, he said that the enemies and bosses in Twilight Princess will be much more challenging, which should be music to the ears of some seasoned gamers.

By the way Drakul, in the "timeline" of the Zelda series, the only confirmed games to take place before Wind Waker are OoT, MM, Minish Cap and Four Swords for GBA. The other ones could very well take place centuries later in the "new" Hyrule Zelda and Link will find.

New Twilight Princess Video (minor spoiler?):
How Link gets his sword. (http://rapidshare.de/files/11993956/link_sword.wmv.html)
If you can't watch it but want to know whats on the clip, highlight to read:

Link gets his first sword by "stealing" it from the village swordsman.

You can now use your sword as you run.

There seems to be more possible combos with your sword.

Cuccos (chickens) are both brown and white now and can swim like ducks.

lol and one more thing. A funny little story about what happened when people where trying one of the puzzles in the game:
After you take out this last surge, you come to a chained door. Now, this is hilarious - people tried everything to break it open. Slashing the chains. Targeting the chains with the Gale Boomerang. Shooting arrows through a hole. Ramming it. Even the Nintendo Staff lady didn't know what to do. The answer? Run up to the door and press A. Go Zelda!

I've only played it for 17 minutes, but every single review has given it a great score. The lowest was Gamespot with an 8.8, and nerds shit their pants and threatened the reviewer. I hate nerds. 8.8 is still really good.

I only really played the SNES one, so I can't say I'm a Zelda fan. I don't know, I always just skipped out on them. I didn't play Ocarina because all I played on my 64 were the awesome THQ/AKI wrestling games.

I'm actually looking forward to getting into this game. Perhaps tomorrow I shall play.

Kris P Lettus
12-23-2007, 11:52 PM
I liked the water temple.. This one room is two layers with doors up and down with a set of stairs that runs from one door upstairs to one door downstairs.. You have to hit a series of switches to get the staircase to spin to beat that whole area.. It's kinda like the three water levels in the water temple in OoT.. So if you hated that one, you'll prolly hate this one, but personally I liked it..

I loved this, but I have a few things to complain about.

- I hate how you'll get an item that is useful for one dungeon and then not useful again. Like I know that's what Zelda does, but honestly the slingshot is absolutely useless after the forest temple, you rarely need the gale boomerang, and you use the Spinny Thing like one time after arbiter's grounds. Not to mention the attack on the Spinny Thing, I honestly never had a use for it aside for the only boss fight you need it for.

- Hyrule Castle was bullshit. After not being able to extinguish one torch with the gale boomerang throughout the entire game, how the fuck are we supposed to expect to extinguish some random one with it? There are torches RIGHT OUTSIDE the room you have to do it in that can't be extinguished. Why on earth would anybody expect to be able to do that. I was honestly stuck at this part for 2 days and kept going back through the castle trying to climb on chandeliers and shit because of this. The Link to the Past music was awesome though.

- People seem to be having trouble with the last boss fight, I thought it was pretty easy. The back attack secret technique thing was pretty helpful on Ganondorf so try to use that I guess

I think I had more to say but I don't remember.

You lose rupees instead of hearts when taking damage.

OssMan
04-23-2009, 03:52 PM
Right but it drains at like 10 rupee/second when you're just walking around. So you have no time to wear it. I mean I guess it's helpful if you have it for a bunch of dungeons and you can't open any chests cause they all have purple rupees in them and you have to put them back so you can just drain the rupees but I dunno.

Vietnamese Crippler
04-23-2009, 04:08 PM
