I'm going to New York from July 18th-25th. I wanted to go and watch a Yankees game but I checked the schedule and they don't have any home games whilst I'm there. So I checked out the Mets and they have, so I might go and watch one of their games. Good idea or bad? Keep in mind I know pretty much nothing about Baseball.

No. The Mets are gay. Try a Yankees game. Even though everyone hates them.

Oh wait, just read the part where they won't be there. Then yeah, go see the gay Mets.

Now now I'm sure they're not aymore gay than any other baseball team. They all wear tights don't they? What's the point, apart from looking gay?

The Yankees/Mets schedule all of their games so that each team has a homestand for about a week while the other team is away that week. Go to the game, I'm gonna be at two of those I think, pretty sure they are playing the Diamonbacks or Nationals

So what's the deal with baseball? Why do they play like a game almost every day? That would be unheard of in our sports like rugby or football (soccer), they play like a game a week.
Be sure to chant "who's your daddy" if Pedro is pitching.

Baseball doesn't take nearly as much out of a player as other sports do, players only come to bat about four times a game. On a regular base hit, players don't need to run at full speed, but even if they do they only have to run for like 10 seconds at most. Sometimes you have to throw a bullet from the outfield to home plate or some other long throw, but usually your arm is better by the next day.
The reason why pitchers only pitch every five or six days is because they are throwing like 120 pitches per game and they need rest
Plus, players get days off all the time. Most players only play about 150 out of the 162 games in the season.

I was in New York last weekend and tried to get tickets to the Subway Series, but it was all sold out well before I tried. Going to Yankee would be awesome, especially if your team was playing them, but the Mets are my favorite NL team so I think it'd be cool too. Shea looks pretty cool, but its in a random area with kind of a shitty back drop. I'd still hit that up if you wanna see a game though.

I saw the Angels play the Royals a couple months ago... I wished they were playing a better team than the Royals :(

In North America, the summer is an awful season for sports. You have the gayest and dullest of the sports being played, baseball. If you came to NY is the fall or winter, you'd get some good shit.

NY is the man in the summer. Shea is alright. I hate Queens though. Yea, too bad you couldn't go to Yankee Stadium. I need to get back there soon.

I dunno Shea is pretty cool, yeah it isn't in a great area but you cant tell really, it is getting old but once you get out into the seats it is #1.

Sorry for bumping the thread, but I went on the 22nd (as Ass man recomended, thank you  ) and it was a great night. I love the game now, wasn't bored once. Although the Dodgers won and I was rooting for the Mets, great game, great entertainment and great fun. Awesome experience to say the least. And I also got me a free Jose Reyes bobblehead doll.

Yeah, I wouldn't move to New York though, it's not worth it just for the baseball. They try and shove cheesecake down your throat at every possible second.

New York and Chicago are badass cities. Hella tight. But not as good as San Jose, of course.
