Ya, I know what everyone is going to say another Star Wars thread but I found something peculiar and im wondering if anyone can help me out. A friend lent me his Return of the Jedi DVD and at they end of the movie when everyone is celebrating the defeat of the empire Obi wan and Yoda appear to Luke. But then all of a sudden Hayden Christiansen appears as well. Now im wondering was this an added scene or what? It doesn't appear to be an added scene as it isn't stated on the title menu.

Maybe it was a add on by lucas. It is defintely him,it was a blue holigram figure so it wasn't Hayden there in person. It was hologram form you know the way Kenobi keeps appearing to Luke in the older movies.
Edit: It seems that he was added when they re-released the DVD version. In the original, the ghost of Anakin was Sebastien Shaw (who played Vader when Luke unmasks him. That explains it....

Not really. It's sorta weird seeing Hayden in the New Special Special Edition as a ghost beside Yoda and Obi-Wan when Sebastian Shaw was just fine. I can only imagine Luke now thinking, "Well, there's Yoda... and Obi-Wan! And ... who's that spindly twerp standing next to them?"

Strange they never had Kwi-gon(sp?) in the last episode appear as a ghost. Even if he's not related to Luke's story, they made reference to him discovering how to manifest himself to Yoda. In fact, he should have counceled Yoda, ala like Obi did to Luke during the training of Luke. Better story tie in right thurrrr.

The Qui-Gon scene was originally in the movie (I think some fans pointed out that, in the trailers, you can see Yoda bowing to a gloving figure), but it was cut out for some reason.

Luke probably doesn't even know of him so if he saw Qui Gon there at the end he'd be like "who the fuck is that?", so that wouldnt make much sense.
Either would Qui Gon counselling Yoda... Yoda had been a jedi for like 700 years at the time, Qui Gon would have been a Master for no more than 10-20 years max. Counselling, yoda does not require.
And I didn't read all the replies here but Hayden replaced Shaw as Anakin because thats what Anakin looked like before he turned to the dark side. So leaving Shaw as a 50-60 year old in there would make no sense because Anakin was never 'whole' or non-mutilated when he was at that particular age, instead he was quite fucked up as you see when Luke takes off his helmet and mask. What they didn't think about however was that Anakin never wore the beige and brown robes that most Jedi were.. instead opting for the black, as they can choose their own clothes.
