View Full Version : WWE Draft Predictions Thread

Now that the draft is under a week away it's time to start predicting who's being traded. I don't know how many are being traded but I'm guessing five. So here are mine.
RAW'S TRADES:
1. Christian.
2. Randy Orton.
3. Tajiri.
4. Kane.
5. Chris Benoit.
SMACKDOWN'S TRADES:
1. Charlie Haas.
2. Rene Dupree.
3. Mark Jindrak.
4. Kurt Angle.
5. The Big Show.
Now I realize some of the trades were people who were traded last year, but I believe some will be sent back as the WWE has nothing for Rene Dupree on Smackdown, now. Tajiri needs to go back to Cruiserweights and Mark Jindrak is better suited on Raw, I think.
Those are my ten, how about yours?
Extreme Angle

i think its six but i aint sure, i will go with 5 any way, i think:
Smackdown!
1. Charlie Haas
2. Kurt Angle
3. JBL
4. Torrie Wilson
5. Hardcore Holly
and for:
RAW!
1. Christian
2. Kane
3. Randy Orton
4. Victoria
5. Chris Masters
From the way the WWE.com article, it seems that, along with the mandatory five, the General Managers can trade among the two shows.
General Managers are allowed to trade until Midnight on June 30th.
Anyway, assuming only the mandatory top five, and excluding all non-wrestling talent, these are my picks, in no particular order.
From RAW to SmackDown!
1. Christian
2. Trish Stratus
3. Daivari
4. Chris Jericho
5. Tajiri
From SmackDown! to RAW
1. Kurt Angle
2. Rene Dupree
3. The Big Show
4. Heidenreich
5. Charlie Haas
If it winds up being one announcer from each show, and assuming that they're the main announcers, I could see Tazz going to RAW and Lawler going to SmackDown!.

RAW to Smack Down!
1. Christian!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Christian!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Christian!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!
2. Ric Flair: I'm sick of Flair being Triple H's lacky. I want to see one last good run for Ric Flair. Matches with Angle, Guerrero, Benoit could be great career enders. Then one last match against Charlie Haas putting him over could help Haas out emmensly.
3. Chris Benoit: Nothing really for him to do on RAW except for stay in mid-card hell. Throw him back on Smack Down! because it gives SD a credible competitor. Not too mention the 5 star match possibilities.
4. Rob Conway: A strong feud with Benoit could propel him alot.
5. Tajiri: If the rumors of the WWE signing Juventud, Super Crazy and Psicosis to SD are true then we need Yoshihiro Tajiri on the same brand as they are. I'd personally move the cruiserweight division on RAW but whereever the title is that is where Tajiri should be.
Smack Down! to RAW
1. Rob Van Dam: His comeback could be huge and RAW is the place to do it. Mr. Monday Night needs to be live on Monday Night!
2. Big Show: The WWE has exhausted all possible feuds for the Big Show on Smack Down! A feud with Batista could be a pretty strong feud that would appeal to the marks. If Batista could lift Big Show in any way then it'll keep his OVERNESS after his feud with Triple H.
3. Rene Dupree: This guy has it all to be a great mid-card, if not eventually a main eventer with more experience. Smack Down! ain't giving him anything to work with. Pair him up again with Grenier as a tag team.
4. Mark Jindrak: Because
5. Undertaker: Just nothing for him on Smack Down!... not that I think there is anything for him on RAW either its just... whatever a change.

From RAW:
1. Christian - obvious choice, anyway
2. Randy Orton - guys like Cena, Orton, Christian, Eddie & Angle main eventing could be fresh
3. Kane - needs something new, perhaps with Taker
4. Sylvain Grenier - reform La Resistance on SMACKDOWN!
5. Tajiri - he's a cruiserweight, damn it
From SMACKDOWN!:
1. Charlie Haas - desperately needs something new
2. JBL - has run his course on SD! and a RAW run can be fresh (new cabinet)
3. Big Show - that's it for this guy on SD! as well, RAW can use a big guy
4. Dawn Marie - send her to RAW, why not
5. Jindrak - needs something new, maybe something with HHH or a new JBL cabinet
HBK, Show, Batista, Benoit, Benjamin = RAW faces
HHH, JBL, Edge, Jericho, Hassan = RAW heels
Taker, Kane, Cena, Booker, RVD, Rey = SD! faces
Angle, Guerrero, Orton, Christian, Carlito = SD! heels
HBK, HHH, Taker and Angle are basically the four biggest faces in the company right now... In terms of recognition...
RAW will then feature some pretty decent guys like Show, JBL, Batista, Edge and Hassan... Benjamin, Benoit and Jericho (and HBK, of course) are the most exciting to watch though, in my opinion... In terms of putting on 4/5-star matches...
SD! will then feature some guys that are past their prime like Kane and Booker, with lots of up-and-comers that are exciting to watch like Carlito, Orton, Cena and Christian... Then exciting guys to watch like Rey, RVD and Eddie (and Kurt, of course) will put on the more consistent 4/5-star matches...
To summarize, that basically makes HBK, Angle, Benjamin, Eddie, Benoit, Jericho, RVD and Rey Mysterio the most consistent guys in the company in terms of putting on classic or memorable matches... For me, they are some of the most exciting to watch, but guys like RVD and Benoit are going to need something new...

Raw to Smackdown!
1. Christain (WWE Title feud with Cena would be great as well as programs with Eddie and Rey)
2. Kane (Several people who he could feud with, Cena, JBL, Colon, Matt Morgan, Eddie, Rey...)
3. Tajiri (Smackdown! needs to feature Cruiserweight wrestling and Tajiri is one of the best)
4. Randy Orton (He can return and do some good stuff with guys like Kane, Cena, Eddie, Rey, Show, Colon etc...)
5. Chris Jericho (He needs something fresh he can feud with anyone on Smackdown!)
Smackdown to Raw
1. Rob Van Dam (he is great and he could do some great stuff with some of the Raw guys)
2. Kurt Angle (again he needs something fresh, he can work with Triple H, Batista, RVD, Hassan, HBK, or Benjamin)
3. Charlie Haas (he could jump start his carrer on Raw with an IC Title feud with Shelton)
4. Undertaker (he can feud with anyone Batista, Triple H, RVD, HBK man I would love to see that again, or even Shelton)
5. Billy Kidman (he's not really a Cruiserweight anymore, and I think he would be great in the IC division on Raw)
Raw Top Stars
Faces - Batista, HBK, RVD, Beniot, and Shelton
Heels - Kurt Angle, Triple H, Edge, The Undertaker
Smackdown Top Stars
Faces - Cena, Rey Jr., Kane, Big Show, Orton, and Booker T
Heels - JBL, Christain, Eddie, Carlito, and Jericho

I also think that a champion will get drafted(More likely the Women’s and Cruiserweight Champion) and that would probably mean that all the people eligible for that title will have to go to the show that there Title is on.

RAW to SmackDown! Draftees:
1. Chris Jericho
2. Christian
3. Rob Conway
4. Tajiri
5. Chris Benoit
SmackDown! to RAW Draftees:
1. The Undertaker
2. Charlie Haas
3. Mark Jindrak
4. Heidenreich
5. Rene Dupree
You can reincarnate the original La Resistance on RAW, have Mark Jindrak pair up with either Chris Masters or Garrison Cade, have Heidenreich strike a friendship with Gene Snitsky and maybe play a solid mid-carder and Charlie Haas can be a good opponent for Shelton, and possibly a short-term tag team partner.
On SmackDown! you have Chris Jericho, Rob Conway and Christian as singles heels. Maybe a short-term face push for Conway would be good, with Rob picking up a win against JBL at The Great American Bash. Chris Benoit joins as a top tier face, and Tajiri helps solidify the cruiserweight division, with immediate feuds with Super Crazy, Nunzio and Akio in sight.
Have Bischoff trade Jerry Lawler for Tazz, and have Shawn Michaels, and perhaps Garrison Cade, show up on Smackers and say their contracts with RAW expired. Have Eric Bischoff fire Steven Richards and Simon Dean because they won't let the bWo die with ECW, so they end up on SmackDown! as well.

Raw to Smackdown:
1) Christian
2) Randy Orton
3) The Coach
4) Rob Conway
5) Khasrow Daivari
Smackdown to Raw:
1) JBL
2) Charlie Haas
3) Matt Morgan
4) Mark Jindrak
5) Theodore Long
Of course I picked the obvious ones like Christian and Orton to go to Smackdown because it's only common sense, they will thrive better there. I chose the Coach to jump ship because his mic skills are desperately needed over on Smackdown, too many charisma killers without managers. Rob Conway is a big guy, moves fast, and is in the best shape of his life. He could have a big US title run for awhile if done right. Also, Daivari just makes sense. He looks to be a great cruiserweight from what we've seen, he needs that belt on him.
JBL has definately run his course on Smackdown, it's time to make a move and get some new opponents. Finally he can face Batista. Haas is in desperate need of some attention. I still say that he should go on the highlight reel and have Jericho just dog on him, which spawns a heel turn and a change in attitude. Morgan... They need this guy on RAW. He's a gigantic guy that looks to be pretty talented so far. Besides, I'm sure his alliance with CCC was going to be short live anyways. He'll be good to feed to Batista later on down the line. Jindrak will never get big in my eyes but they'l switch him to see what they can do. What a waste. Also, for some reason I just really think that Theodore Long will be sent to RAW, which will leave Smackdwn without a GM. A new one will be appointed shortly after. As for long... manager material.

The problem with Long, Jindrak, and Haas all being drafted to Raw is that last year they were drafted from Raw TO Smackdown. That'd just be idiotic if they turn around and put them back on Raw. Charlie Haas would be the only reasonable draftee to Raw.

If last years draft was of any indication, then...
a) Both RAW and Smackdown will swap jobbers (in the same manner that Jim Ross and Gene Snitsky swap saliva and semen).
b) RAW will get mid-carders with serious main-event potential (i.e. Benjamin, Edge)
c) Smackdown will get established wrestlers who are either stale, or are past their peaks in terms of being able to draw (i.e. Dudleys, Booker T).
To RAW:
-Carlitto Carribbean Cool
-John Cena
-Kurt Angle
-3 other jobbers
To Smackdown
-Chris Jericho
-Kane
-Randy Orton
-Gene Snitsky
-2 other jobbers

Whoever is the first SmackDown-to-RAW jump has to be big. If it's Lauren Jones, no one will give a damn about future picks. But if it's, say, Carlito or The Big Show, then the crowd will be clamoring to see who comes next. After the first week, they can start shuffling people like Coach. It needs to start hot and it needs to end hot, and the crowd won't really mind if the middle is a little meh.

I guess to kick off my two cents, who I think will go to SmackDown.
Xtian- Come on, he’s not World Championship material, but he’s too good for the intercontinental title. So give him the title that (in my eyes) comes in a distant second, the WWE heavyweight title
Rob Conway- No more international influence, just another badass heel. Give him the mic, set him up for a number one contender’s title shot for the US title after his face turn as he feuds with Rene Dupree.
Chris Masters- I almost never miss Raw, but I don’t always make it a point to see SmackDown, so this means I’ll see less of Masters.
Hassan- He’s getting stale. See Masters
Randy Orton- After that promo with Vince I think it would be very fitting. Hey, I’d watch SmackDown more often.
People who I think will go to Raw.
Randy Orton- Hey, after he gets drafted to SmackDown, he’s on the SmackDown roster! What’s this? Swerve! He comes back with a cocky promo about how he couldn’t be drafted to SmackDown because he’s Randy Orton.
Kurt Angle- Angle VS HBK again, much like HBK requested from the fans? Huzzah, it was an allusion to what is yet to come!
Charlie Hass- Intercontinental feud… Do I need to say more?
(Insert random diva here)- This is just to show that EVERYONE was in the draft, not just wrestlers.
JBL- Someone else said this already. Let him go to Raw, because he has feuded with every face worth feuding with on SmackDown. Maybe they can try to do the Four Horsemen with HHH, Naich, JBL and Maven. Who knows?
Things I want to see happen
Even if it’s not with Randy Orton I want to see a swerve storyline.
A few weeks after the lotto allow the GMs to make interbrand trades, much like when Triple H was drafted to SmackDown.
I’d like to see one or two pointless trades just to remind everyone that everyone can be drafted, no matter how trivial you may seem.
I want to see a lesser tag team split up.
Things I don’t want to see
Champions going from show to show. As Carlito says, “that’s not cool.”
A major tag team getting broken up. Remember how much D-Von sucked solo?
Eddie or Rey drafted. No, this feud is awesome, it can’t go away without a MAJOR match. It’s kinda like all the of Triple H vs someone else feuds, only with at least one talented wrestler in the match.

From SmackDown To RAW:
Charlie Haas
He needs to get back to working with Shelton benjamin in some form. I think this will be a good thing for him to do.
The Big Show
A fresh run on RAW is perfect for him. He can be dominant as a heel, and maybe a Triple H killer (finally).
Doug/Danny Basham
I see the WWE doing this instead of the JBL thing. Since SmackDown needs the main event workers more, it wouldn't make ANY sense to move JBL since they got him to that point. But to "break up" a tag team on SD, get these guys away from each other for a while.
Kenzo Suzuki
What has this guy done on SD that's been monumental? Let him go onto RAW for a better chance to get noticed.
Scotty 2 Hotty
He's done his course on SD, and since Rikishi's gone, a change to RAW can help this underrated worker.
From RAW to SmackDown:
HBK
The shocker of the draft. With him and Angle being able to work an obvious feud, and with the Rockers reunion rumored to be set up, why not? They could bring Angle to RAW, but why rob SD of yet another possible main event worker, which is what they need right now? Send HBK to SmackDown, then get Marty to SD, as well, and do the Angle/HBK rematch for Summerslam. Problem solved. Only thing: The injury that HBK has. But that didn't stop Edge from being drafted to RAW last year.
Christian
Even though it may be too obvious, Vince is probably trying to test Christian's popularity. I'm thinking that, regardless of whether or not it's too obvious, they will let him go to SD. Simpily because...he's got nothing left on RAW in which we can see the WWE letting him do. Send him to SD.
Randy Orton
What in any of the rumor mills would make us think that Orton ISN'T going to SD? Orton could be THE next big SmackDown heel, and an obvious Cena/Orton feud is perfect.
Chris Masters
This may be a weird choice, but maybe the reason Masters sucks so much is because of the brand he's on. A change of scenery may be all he needs. Let him go to SmackDown then let someone carry the guy to a good match, or maybe repackage him totally (I don't see the WWE giving up on him anytime soon).
Eugine
Pretty interesting choice here. He would be perfect for a tag team pertner to Heidenrich, since their gimmicks run slightly parallel.
Top RAW faces: Benoit, Batista
Top RAW Heels: HHH, Big Show
Top SD faces: HBK, Cena, Rey Mysterio
Top SD Heels: JBL, Angle, Eddie, Orton, Christian

I actually went on the pretense that SmackDown needs main eventers. Plus, the Big Show IS one of those people that can become a main event talent on RAW. I think RAW needs more midcards. I just went with what I thought each brand were lacking.

I wouldn't mind it if the draft is a bit shocking. We seem to have trades that seem likely (like Jindrak, Christian, Haas, etc.), but what if the WWE did something really different and had completely shocking picks.
RAW to SmackDown!
1. Kane
2. Chris Benoit
3. Eugene
4. Jim Ross
5. Romeo
SmackDown! to RAW
1. Paul London
2. Nunzio
3. Eddie Guerrero
4. Johnny Nitro
5. Scotty 2 Hotty
I just did that off the top of my head without any thought what-so-ever.
It sounds stupid, but something like this might actually get work in making the draft seem more important, as this changes quite a bit.
First off, now the Cruiserweight Division is on RAW. You have Paul London, Nunzio, Scotty 2 Hotty, Tajiri, Simon Dean, Steven Richards & Johnny Nitro in the division. Bring in Super Crazy, Psichosis, Frankie Kazarian, Kid Kash and maybe Marty Jannetty to expand on top of that. It's nothing too glamourous, but it's a change that would change the shape of the WWE slightly.
You've got Chris Benoit and Kane joining the ranks of Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio, John Cena, Booker T, The Big Show, Carlito Caribbean Cool, Matt Morgan and JBL as the main event guys on SmackDown!.
Another change on SmackDown! is the announce team of Jim Ross, Michael Cole & Tazz. You could have a three-way announce team, but Jim Ross and Michael Cole's jobs would be blurred. The simplest thing I can suggest is having Jim Ross and Michael Cole share the job of play-by-play commentator, with one guy doing SmackDown! one week, and the other doing it another week. Have Michael Cole and Josh Mathews do Velocity, as well as Michael Cole replacing Todd Grisham as co-host of Experience. This keeps Michael Cole's skills sharp, and gives Jim Ross some reduced work.
On RAW, you simply have Jonathan Coachman step up to replace Jim Ross. I suppose you could habe Paul Heyman step in as well. The Coach has really taken my notice recently, as he's been phenominal on Sunday Night Heat. I think it's time Coachman got a promotion to where the action is.
Nitro on RAW upsets a lot of things, and it leaves The Basham Brothers and Hardcore Holly & Charlie Haas as the only tag teams on SmackDown!, but if you bring in The Thrillseekers and maybe another team from OVW, you can start again from scratch. There may not be a point in having Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro going their own ways, but both guys are talented, and although it might upset Nitro and Melina (who are dating in real-life) both guys have a shot at singles success, and both guys could have a shot at being huge stars. Stranger things have happened.
Eddie Guerrero on RAW allows Eddie to build on his heat with Evolution from the Royal Rumble (not much, I know), and it allows Shelton Benjamin and Eddie Guerrero to have some great matches. With HBK returning to RAW, it also allows for an Eddie Guerrero vs. Shawn Michaels match, which is a Dream Match for some.
Romeo and Eugene could become stars on SD!, either as a tag team in Romeo's case (I'll get tot hat later on) or as a credible singles star in Eugene's.
Have Teddy Long realise his cruiserweights are seemingly good assets to RAW, and have lost value on SmackDown!, so have him trade Chavo Guerrero for Val Venis, Billy Kidman for Chris Masters, Shannon Moore for Antonio (who has some kind of psychological complex develope where he thinks Romeo left him, seems like a thing the WWE would do), Funaki for Trish Stratus, Akio for Victoria, Joey Mercury & Melina for Viscera.
So here's how things end up:
RAW Main Eventers:
1. Batista
2. Triple H
3. Edge
4. Randy Orton
5. Chris Jericho
6. Shawn Michaels
7. Christian
8. Eddie Guerrero
SmackDown! Main Eventers:
1. John Cena
2. Kurt Angle
3. JBL
4. The Big Show
5. Booker T
6. Carlito Caribbean Cool
7. Matt Morgan
8. The Undertaker
9. Rob Van Dam
10. Chris Benoit
11. Kane
RAW Mid-Carders:
1. Shelton Benjamin
2. Muhammad Hassan
3. Maven
4. William Regal
5. Rob Conway
6. Sylvain Grenier
7. Rosey
8. Gene Snitsky
9. Tyson Tomko
SmackDown! Mid-Carders:
1. Orlando Jordan
2. Val Venis
3. Chris Masters
4. Viscera
5. Mark Jindrak
6. Hardcore Holly
7. Charlie Haas
8. Heidenreich
9. Rene Dupree
10. Kenzo Suzuki
11. Rey Mysterio
RAW Tag Teams
1. The Hurricane & Rosey
2. MNM
3. La Resistance
4. Funaki & Nunzio
5. William Regal & Tajiri
6. Maven & Simon Dean
7. The Thrillseekers (Matt Cappotelli & Johnny Jeter)
SmackDown! Tag Teams
1. The Basham Brothers
2. Hardcore Holly & Charlie Haas
3. Chris Masters & Mark Jindrak
4. The Heart Throbs
5. The Dudley Boyz
6. The Shane Twins
RAW Cruiserweights
1. Paul London
2. The Hurricane
3. Tajiri
4. Shannon Moore
5. Akio
6. Funaki
7. Nunzio
8. Chavo Guerrero
9. Scotty 2 Hotty
10. Billy Kidman
11. Psichosis
12. Super Crazy
13. Frankie Kazarian
14. Simon Dean
15. Steven Richards
RAW Divas
1. Lita
2. Stacy Keibler
3. Melina
4. Christy hemme
5. Candice Michelle
6. Maria Kanellis
7. Lilian Garcia
7. RAW Whore 2005
SmackDown! Divas
1. Trish Stratus
2. Victoria
3. Miss Jackie
4. Michelle McCool
5. Joy Giovanni
6. Dawn Marie
7. Torrie Wilson
So while none of the completely random drafts I listed above won't really fit into the WWE's current scheme of things, it does allow for some interesting changes to be made, and it would be an interesting test to see if the writers can adapt to dynamic changes.
