I've been listening to the usual over confident Americans with their anti British bias talking shit about Ricky Hatton for 4 years. All this shit about how he can't hang with the top boys like Gatti, Mayweather and Tsyzu and how he and Frank Warren dodged every big challenge (even though it's a damn fact Kelson Pinto just refused to get on a plane to England 4 days before a fight with Hatton and Vivian Harris turned down $750k to fight him). Well early Sunday morning was one of the happiest times I have ever been a boxing fan, if not the single happiest. Ricky Hatton schooled the best pound for pound fighter in the world (although today America will be saying it's Mayweather or Bernard Hopkins) when not a soul in the States gave him an ice cubes chance in hell of winning. It's just what Britain has been telling the world for years. Hatton is the man and now you better believe in the man.

Kostya Tszyu is a scrub who could be beaten by any random fighter any day of the week. Congrats to Ricky Hatton for beating up the proverbial kid in the wheelchair with cancer.

I'm not sure i understand why America's opinion is considered bias towards the Brits when talking about Hatton. Its a fact that he hasnt faced anyone with any great credentials. I think Vince Phillips was the closest thing and thats only cause he was the one person to beat Tsyzu. There is no anti british bias from America. Dont use that as a reason to get pumped up about your boy. Thats stupid. Its not true and you have way better reasons to be happy.

Obviously this is great tho cause now it sets up a match between Hatton and the winner of Gatti/Mayweather. I can only pray that Gatti wins. Gatti vs Hatton could be epic.

The biggest names were Ben Tackie, Vince Phillips (only man to beat Tsyzu before last night) and Ray Oliveria. The credential arguement was fair but it should have also been noted that Kelson Pinto was due to fight Hatton and just didn't show up and gave no excuse. Vivian Harris has a shitty TV deal and used that excuse to refuse a fight with Hatton where he would have got paid $750k (biggest pay day of his career by a mile) and refused the money and fighting in England then he got on a plane to Germany to fought there for nearly 8 times less. Sharmba Mitchell also refused a fight. The biggest names all dodged him but Tsyzu finally stepped up (took the biggest pay day of his career by a mile too) and he is bigger and better than them all. People were using Hatton's previous opponents to say he wasn't world class. We have been saying he is for 4 years. And he is.

As for the British bias, obviously it's not all Americans so I do apologise for it but the majority of hardcore fight fans in the states don't like European fighters (somehow they forget where Tsyzu is from). They are still bitching about Tyson losing to Danny Williams. They still refuse to admit Lennox Lewis is one of the best heavyweights of all time. They refuse to take to Joe Calzaghe and Jeff Lacy is in for a big time beating later this year. That's if he even beats Robin Reid and I personally think it's a tougher test than people think it is.

I think there is a small chance that Gatti will come to England to fight Hatton (Hatton is the draw but I guess there is a chance he'd go to Vegas but not New York). Mayweather hasn't got the balls to fight Hatton. I'd rather see Miguel Cotto next though.

It's a shame when someone doesn't think the world revolves around America isn't it?

I and many Americans don't think the world revolves around America but good job being ignorant.

Its noted that those fighters dodged him , but no one is judging him on the fights he hasnt fought. He wasnt a worldclass fighter . He beat a Tsyzu who was coming off a injury and only his second fight back. If he beats Gatti, Mayweather , or Cotto. Then he's a worldclass fighter. I'm not about to classify any fighter as world class if they havent atleast beat 2 top contenders that matter. Tsyzu is a great victory. Hatton wont see Mayweather. Mayweather wont fight him. Which sucks cause it would be a hell of a fight. I look at this victory as a step to greatness. The division is so stacked. In my book ( not American bias , just personal opinion) He has to beat one of the the three that have been mentioned. Cotto, Gatti, or Mayweather.

BTW . Dont count on any of those proposed fights being in England. Hatton is a known name now. It will be in Vegas. For sure.

I wouldnt be shocked if there is a rematch for Tszyu with Hatton. He looked flat as hell. He smoked the first jobber he faced off his injury. He wasnt ready for a fighter that actually had some sack and he got smoked. I'm not taking anything from Hatton. He earned a huge pay day fight. Now he can really show me something by beating Gatti or Cotto.

Lennox Lewis was/is a damn good boxer. If people refuse to recognize that then to each his own.

Gatti is a guy who made his name in 3 wars with a journeyman in Mickey Ward. Hatton would eat him for breakfast. Mayweather could challenge him but he won't and Cotto would be an awesome fight.

I can't talk about soccer, cycling, or an American athlete competing internationally on these boards without having my opinion being thrown out or flamed because of where I am from. The bias clearly goes both ways.

Hatton fought dirty in that fight. He kept grabbing Tszyu and punching the back of his head throughout the whole fight and had the ref pretty much in his pocket and like others said he was coming off an injury. Anywhere else he would've lost.
