according to IMDB.com's news section:

'Simpsons' Movie Confirmed

Homer Simpson and his hugely popular family are set to hit the big screen in a new full-length movie based on the cult cartoon series. The show's principal voice actors have all signed on for the project and creator Matt Groening is delighted with the script for the film.

The Simpsons' spokeswoman Antonia Kaughman says, "Now we're going to get the best of both worlds, evidently. They finally worked out a movie team, a team of the writers, because we could never hire outside writers - they had to be Simpsons writers, and most of them were working on the show.

They finally put this team together that has time on the side, and they've been working on the script. So the movie won't be at the end of the series - they'll be working simultaneously."

Well, I'm happy - but will be even happier when it's finalized.

Whats sad is that there were news stories about this like 6 years ago talking about how a Simpsons movie was in the works.

Now they are saying it again which makes me think that in a few more years were gonna hear the same thing once again.

I heard from one place recently that they wont do it till after there 20th season when they quit the show. Then I also heard that they are signed on for 2 movies and both are supposed to be made during and after the season. So perhaps we get one now and then then after they reach 20 we get movie 2.

I can't even sit through a 30 minute episode of this crap anymore. The show has gotten so bad lately I can't imagine a movie being anything to celebrate about.

YES I agree, if Conan O'Brien is related in some way, shape or form, it will rule.

What would be hotter though, is if they used all the money that they will potentially spend on this movie, and sign the voice actors/animators/WHATEVER for Futurama for like 3 more seasons instead. :shifty:

Marry me. Seriously. I so want Futurama to come back to the airwaves myself. It would rule all kinds of shit if they brought them back.

But they never will cause Fox are run by a bunch of idiots.

I actually heard something today about them trying to make a FEW Futurama movies. I would cry sweet tears of joy if it were true.

...futurama movies? :wtf:

They would probably be all rushed and ruin it.

They need to just keep the series going. It's too early to even consider a movie.

Well this is from Gotfuturama.com about any new stuff relating to it:

Good news, everyone?

Over the last week, several sources from within the animation business have indicated to us that there is renewed talk at FOX about bringing fresh Futurama content directly to DVD. We corroborated this with other sources close to the show before publishing the information.

The talk is of course still in a preliminary stage. Options reported to us include one or more Futurama movies in case of a go-ahead.

Even though Futurama is not sure to return and the likelihood of its return is currently unknown, this is the first time in the past few years that we have heard of Futurama being discussed at the upper levels of FOX. They'll likely have a good look at the sales of the upcoming Futurama Monster Robot Maniac Fun Collection.

As soon as we get more information on the Direct to DVD story, we'll let you know right here.

Yeah great, look at sales of a best of compilation when most fans of the show already went out and bought all the boxsets and don't fucking need a compilation.

Fucking morons.

Recently? Personally I'd say the Simpsons hit its low point years back. Now it's still nowhere near as good as it used to be, but still not as bad as it got a few seasons ago.

The Simpsons is so shitty anymore. I can't sit through 30 minutes, so what makes them think I can sit through 90 or however long it's going to be?

Oh, and on the subject of Futurama, some shows die for a reason. They're bad. Just like Family Guy. It died for a reason, it sucked ass.

I should've known you had no taste in television/movies when you are complaining about Superman's costume and Magneto coming out in an X-Men movie twice.

Dude there is no arguing that the Simpsons suck balls these days. They havent been good for years and this movie will suck royally and it will be a shitty end to a series which had an amazing peak.

I have no taste because I dislike Superman's new(GAY) costume and I don't want a villain that's been used in two movies in the third? Hm.

And the reason Family Guy sucks ass is because their idea of comedy is so flawed and stupid. This is literally what it's like...

Character 1: Oh, don't be such a clown!!

Then it cuts to Character 2, who is dressed like a clown, honking a horn.

Character 2: What?

No. Dick Van Dyke sucks a whole lot of dick(moreso than Family Guy, even)

And you know what else? You can shove Family Guy, Futurama and all those other shitty cartoons on Fox(that includes any current Simpsons episodes) right up your ass.
