An opening segment between John Cena and Batista.
Have John Cena come out and cut one of his regular "The Champ is here!" promos, only for it to be interrupted by Batista's new equally-badass-to-his-old-theme music. Then let the two cut a promo that goes something like this:
BATISTA: *Laughing* Who the Hell do you think you are? Seriously? I threw you over the top rope at the Royal Rumble to earn my World Heavyweight Title Shot, in the main event of WrestleMania, where I was victorious, and you come out here and claim "THE Champ is here?" (pointing at Cena). No Cena, THE Champ is here (holding up the World Heavyweight Championship).
JOHN CENA: Wow, it seems we've got a little bit of a paradox here. We seem to have two Champs...RIGHT HERE ON RAW!!!!!!!!
BATISTA: Oh yeah, that's right. Playing up the fans hey Cena? Like always. Well I've said it once, and I'll say it again, SCREW THE FANS!!!!!! I am the top dog on RAW. I am the top dog in the WWE. I have been since I've proved my superiority over you at the Rumble. When I beat you, I could have chosen to go to SmackDown!, kick you and JBL's ass, which would have actually been an honour for you, since me kicking your ass would have been the main event, and won the most prestigious title in the WWE. And Cena, part of me wnated to do that. Hell, a lot of me wanted to do that. But I chose to stay on RAW. I chose to beat Triple H, and become World Heavyweight Champion. Instead of leeching onto the title held by Bruno Sammartino, Buddy Rogers, Bret Hart, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock and Kurt Angle, I chose to carve my own path, and become World Heavyweight Champion. While doing this I realised something. The only World Championship in the WWE, is the one that I'm contednign under, because I am the star in the WWE, and whether or not your little Chain Gang realises this or not doesn't matter, because one day a force is going to come and take your precious WWE Championship away from you, Cena, and that force will shatter the Chain Gang. Cena, I am very happy with the idea of me being that force. So I'd advise all the members of the Chain Gang, to stop wearing your colours, and start becomming Levia-fans.
JOHN CENA: Woah...Bati...
BATISTA: Shut up! We both know this goes far beyond that crappy little facade of yours. Back in OVW, we were both favourite students of Jim Cornette. He said we were both World Championship material, and quite frankly that offended me Cena. I didn't like that Cornette couldn't see how pathetic you were. Look at what you've done to the WWE Title (pointing at the WWE belt). What the Hell is that crap? Personally I'm glad though, because now you're on RAW, and so is the WWE Championship. I was faced with a difficult choice after I threw your ass out of the Royal Rumble. Part of me wanted to kick Triple H's ass, the other part of me wanted that WWE Title. It seems I made a good choice, Cena, because now the WWE Championship has come to me.
JOHN CENA: Now it's your turn to shut up. You think this is about titles? You think THIS (getting worked up for the fans) is about titles. You think being the Champ is about titles? Then you're even dumber than you look. You know what that title on your shoulder means, Dave? Nothing. You know what this title on my shoulder means, Dave? Nothing. As much as I respect Bruno Sammartino, Buddy Rogers, Bret Hart, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock and Kurt Angle, this title means NOTHING (shaking the belt around). I will willingly forfeit this title right now, and ship it back to SmackDown! if you want me to, because this means nothing (holding up the belt to Dave's face).
All these titles are, are platforms. Platforms so the world can watch you defeat La Resistance in a Handicap Match. Platforms so the world focuses on you beating the last ever ECW World Heavyweight Champion and ECW Television Champion in under 5 minutes. Platforms so the world becomes yours, and you become the world's. Being a Champion isn't about the belts. It's about fighting for who you are, and coming out victorious. See Batista, the Champ is here (pointing to himself), not here (pointing to the WWE Championship), not there (pointing to the World Heavyweight Championship) and Batista, I very much doubt, the Champion is there (pointing to Batista). But hey, you've got a chance to prove me wrong.
At Vengeance, you're in a Hell in a Cell Match with Triple H, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say Triple H will beat you at Vengeance, because it will take a Champion to beat Triple H. THE Champion to beat Triple H, because Triple H is also a Champion. He may not have the World Heavyweight Title, but he always gets it back. He always proves his critics wrong, and he fights for who he is, and he always ends up victorious. Who he is may be a self-serving, title-hogging asshole who tries and keeps that platform away from other superstars, but he's good at it. And his weapon for this is Hell in a Cell. Just ask Mick Foley, Chris Jericho, Kevin Nash & Shawn Michaels. Now Batista, are you going to join those names as victims of Triple H's wrath, or ae you gonna be a Champion and be the man to finally put Triple H in his place for good.
Personally I hope you do succeed Batista. Because I would love to kick that platform (poininting to the World Heavyweight Championship) out from under your legs, and prove once and for all...THE CHAMP IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's nothing too special, but I think it adds extra dimensions to the Batista and John Cena characters, as well as the Hell in a Cell Match. What do you think? How are you hoping John Cena and Batista interact in coming weeks?
