little WWE interfearance, when they did they got slaughtered
ECW put over completely.

well the end was 12 wwe guys take on over 25 ecw guys then they all beat up on bishoff another screwed up invasion angle.

Great Fucking Show.....
The only things that im mad about were basically all the WWE parts.....and then it only lasting near 2 1/2 hours.
I loved Heyman shooting on everyone...that was unbelievable..
Mike Awesome Vs Masato Tanaka.....HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT...greatest match ive seen in a while.
I loved everyone coming in at the end and I really wish Raven would of came out. But even though it didnt happen it was still worth it.
This was possibly the best ppv ive seen in a long time and yes...im stating that it was better that Wrestlemania this year. WWE needs to bring ECW back big time after this. I hope this ppv goes to show that ECW still does exist
Heres hoping in the next few days we here some positive news about all this.
Dave Youell
06-13-2005, 08:31 PM
Little down about the finish. Everything else fucking ruled.
RVD and Heyman promos = Ratings
Some of the matches seemed a little lack luster, but i don't care about that, if the buys were good they have to do one of these again

First off, if any bitches want to bitch about this ppv, go fuck yourself because i don't want to hear it.
Secondly, what a fucking ppv. Heyman said what he really felt and what each and everyone of us wished we could say to their faces, as did RVD, those were the best moments i have ever seen. And the last match gave me everything i wanted to see, ECW really showed up WWE tonight.

Im glad i orderd this. now Taz will get his ass kicked by Angle on SD again and it will be business as usual.
Why don't they replace Mitchell cole with Styles , shit he is like 10 times better.
Sandman's entrance was probably the best i have seen.
Hopefully Storm didn't wrestle his last match.

06-13-2005, 08:38 PM
Somebody sum up all the good stuff that happened
RVD shot on his WWE character, and did a promo with as good a mic skills as anyone.
Heyman shot on Edge saying 'Matt Freaking Hardy', shot on JBL saying 'the only reason you were champ for a year is because Triple H didn't want to work Tuesdays'.
Top matches, Awesome was probably MVP of the PPV - really stood out. Dreamer showed he can still perform with the best. The crowd were into it like no other PPV I've seen (with the exception of Hogan - Rock at WM18).
Jericho didn't look interested (again), neither did Eddie. Rey's 619 was booed twice.
Sandman should be signed up, he's gold, still. The Dudleys must make a return, Jericho needs his Lionheart gimmick on Raw. I'd sign Awesome tomorrow for a feud with Kurt, would be excellent.
Check the results in the morning if u want a full recap.
Finally, good on Vince for giving it a go, huge success in my mind, could a new brand start out of this - I hope so.
Oh and once again, Heyman and RVD's promos - GOLD.

Oh man, I've been busy most all day and wasn't able to see one second of the show. Sounds like it was an ECW show, instead of a ECW/WWE show. Hopefully I'll get to see a tape, or the DVD when it comes out. ECW! ECW! ECW!

Watch, ECW is not finished, not by a long shot. And if tonight was any indication, I think we may see a return of WCW as well. As in, all 3 brands competing, each with their own show. At least thats what I hope happens after seeing this.

I'll say it again. This was my first time ever watching ECW, and it was fuckin' awesome! I never understood, because I never watched it, but now I finally get it. It's not about violence and "hardcore" - it's about PASSION. It's about SACRIFICE. It's about saying FUCK YOU to corprate America. It's E-C-FUCKIN W, and it's AWESOME!

Watch, ECW is not finished, not by a long shot. And if tonight was any indication, I think we may see a return of WCW as well. As in, all 3 brands competing, each with their own show. At least thats what I hope happens after seeing this.
No, WCW doesn't have the same sort of passion.WCW was a big sell out business like WWE, ECW was brought back because of the amount of passion fans had for it, you saw that tonight. You WONT get that at a wcw ppv.

But see, they'd never be able to replicate this quality day in and day out. It would inevitably get watered down.
So something like this... a one-time only affair where the guys lay it all out because they have nothing to lose, is perfect. A brilliant way for ECW to "officially" go out on. It will be the stuff of lore years from now.
You make this regular, and politics WILL get into it. You will have people worrying about what they can or cannot do. You'll have internal friction. And the product WILL deteriorate over time.
Better to go out on a high note than to shit on your own legacy. This is Jordan hitting the game winning jumper to win the Finals for the 6th and final time. We don't need ECW coming back and pulling a Washington Wizards twice or anything like that.

OMG I was marking out the entire time.. I watched it at Hooter's which was cool cause alot of those guys weren't ECW fans so I had to explain alot of the history etc.. Every match was good, every promo was good, the whole show was awesome.. The Beulah DDT on Buh Buh was the only botched spot I saw.. Excellent, and I hope they keep the ECW angle running..
A few notes:
-a tear came to my eye when Heyman came out
-a drop of seman ruined my shorts when Tanaka no sold the chairshots

Incredible. Coming into today I was really worried that instead of a true ECW show I'd see the weak sauce the WWE passes of as "hardcore" or "ECW rules"...but this show embodied the passion and intensity that defined ECW. Paul Heyman always said that ECW was about honoring the fans. The angles were more realistic. The storylines were more mature. The wrestlers always gave everything they had in the ring. And the comedy was was gold.
This show delivered on absolutely every point that made ECW what it was. Even the WWE portions played smartly into the current storylines. And although the show was missing some of the ECW icons, it still felt genuine.

I read that Hardcore Homecoming was good, but nowhere near this intense or authentic. Why? Because it didn't have Paul Heyman.
If anything, this show proves (if anybody doubted) that Heyman is a genius in this business and that instead of hiring Hollywood wash-outs they should give Heyman the freedom to do what he does best- write original characters that showcase the best in his performers and connect with the audience.
I'm getting a little tired of the generic "cocky blue-chjpper" vs "tough, hard-working face" routine.

Was the vladimir dude there, along with long haired, everything in black shades dude?
Not only was the long haired shades guy there, Paul Heyman, in the middle of his interview, stoped and looked at the guy, then pointed to him and said, "You are one of the craziest sons of a bitch I've ever seen."
Mad props to that guy, he is in nearly every ECW tape that I own.
I ALMOST ended up not buying the show. I was so worried that it was going to be completely watered down. You know, Attitude Era hardcore matches kind of thing. I'm glad to say that it wasn't. It was definitely a nostalgia trip for me, and a very heart felt one at that. Once Heyman got into the ring, it was pretty emotional. And of course, the RVD shoot was great also.
Match wise... it could of been better. To no surprise to me at all, the WWE guys actually had the worst matches. Jericho did well, but not as good as he is truly able to do. Benoit vs Gurrerro was... well... lame. They are seriously not the same guys from the ECW of old. I even said to my girlfriend, "I think they have been with the WWE for too long. Rey vs Psicosis should of been great, but it was a pretty quick WWE style match. Psicosis didn't do too much high flying, and Rey really only did his signature moves and called it a day.
The 3-way between Super Crazy, Tajiri, and little Guido had the potential to steal the show. They ended the match too quickly though. I was expecting some fast paced countering of counters between Super Crazy and Tajiri, but I didn't get it. It was still much better than the usual PPV crap we get from the WWE though.
Tanaka vs Awesome finally opened the flood gates. They had a great hardcore mach up, back and forth, kicking out of each others finishers, then when you knew the match was over, someone yet again kicked out. Great stuff.
It was great to see Sabu in the ring again. I'm very happy they got him to appear on the show. Atomic Arabian Facebuster through the table anyone?
And the main event, the main event was everything a Dudleyz tag team match up should be. They all beat the hell out of each other with nearly everything imaginable, then hit the flaming tables spot. Again good stuff.
But in the end, what it was all about was the sense of pride and honor that the ECW guys had. And thankfully, even after being closed for almost 5 years, they still have it.
I'm glad I bought the PPV, I taped it, and I will never forget it. Isn't it funny? You take the WWE name and the WWE stars out of the equation and you are left with the best PPV I have seen in quite a while. While most of the matches failed to capture that old ECW essence, it was still a better show than what we get from the WWE.
Two things really stick out from the night though. And those are RVD's shoot, and Heyman's shoot.
"JBL, we all know that the only reason that you were champion for ten months is because Triple H didn't want to work on Tuesdays"
"Everyone hide your wives, it's Edge."
"Edge, I've got two words for you, MATT FRIGGIN' HARDY!"
"Don't you remember that Fonzy? Back when RVD had a vocabulary? When I said more than 'whatever' and 'cool'? Remember that?"

Who was the bigger star in ECW? Sabu or Sandman?
Sabu. He perosnified everything that made ECW stand out from the other companies. Especially in its early days. The WWF still had guys like The Goon and Mantaur running around and here was Sabu: this insane Arab just covered in scars who only spoke in grunts and had to be wheeled out to the ring like Hannibal Lecter delivering sick highspots, wrapping himself in barbed wire before launching himself at his opponents and in general delivering moves that caused damage to anyone in the vicinity, himself included. The reason Cactus jack was sent to ECW in the first place was because Sabu/Jack was seen as a Hardcore Dream Match (and WCW didn't have the stomach for it.)
Homicidal. Suicidal. Genocidal.

I have changed my mind on an ECW brand and WCW brand, and etc. However, I think the following would own: We all know alot of the ECW guys will get tryouts now and some will probably be hired. I think Heyman should bring his team in and continue to screw with RAW and SD! Eventually, we have all the ECW guys land on Smackdown to add to their roster and give them some more credibility, and we see Heyman take over as GM. This way, you have a better and more diverse SD! roster, you have Heyman in a better spot, and you have Bischoff still on RAW with his roster. It would definately add to the feeling of competition between brands, and I think it would open the doors for much more interbrand conflict, which would boost the ratings.

You don't know too much about E-C-Dub do you??
Seemed to me whenever a sleeper hold came about, it got boo'ed. I don't mind reversals of moves much, but everything gets repetitive after a while. But i'm really not in the mood to complain. And nah like i said, i only saw a few shows on Bravo(which is on sky) before, and a few from my mick foley dvd, so i don't know much about ECW, but i really got into the ppv tonight and felt apart of it, if that makes any sense.

THANK YOU FOR SAYING EXACTLY WHAT I SAID.(read my post quoted by RDD) I agree completely. And with the rest of your post to. :y:
I think RDD was more commenting on your statement about sleepers and counters that lead nowhere. There was very, very, very little of that at this show. Although, I didn't see the back and forth counter after counter match that I was hoping to see with Gurrerro vs Benoit, and Tajiri vs Super Crazy vs Little Guido. Jericho was definitely better than what we normally see of him, and he still put on a great match, I just can't help but think that it could of been even better if he hadn't of spent the last 6 years being watered down.
The same goes for Benoit and Gurrerro, they just have different styles now, they aren't the same guys from ECW. They still had a good match, but it was more WWE style than ECW style.

The Benoit/Eddie match was a little lame to be honest. Not lame in the sense that it was a bad match, but lame in the sense that putting those two together usually results in an absolute classic, so they didn't meet expectations. Kinda like Godfather III..not a bad little movie, but it certainly didn't make the Earth move.

Heyman said it best with Dreamer on Byte this, this past week that yeah, Monday, they are out of a job. Maybe, judging from all this madness, but hey, he went out on a high note that I wish I could have watched it myself.
I am getting the DVD, whether or not the stuff is edited. Just as long as Enter Sandman plays, I am a happy camper, because that was epic when everyone used to just sing along... but anyways, praise to you, Sir Heyman, who just made two new fans from my friends who actually watched and loved it.

You're allowed to have an opinion. But RHS was asking a question about ECW in its heyday. You already said you didn't watch. So your opinion was uninformed and basically worthless. It'd be like me having an opinion on, say, horse racing. I'm certainly entitled. But I'd be a bit of an ass for sharing it with anyone. Since I know fuck-all about what I'm talking about.

Great f'n show.
-Lance Storm and Chris Jericho put on a really good show. I would have marked out if Jericho had slapped in the Liontamer version of the Walls of Jericho, but it was not to be. You could tell they were ECW fans when they booed the Boston Crab, though.
-I was not expecting Benoit vs. Guerrero to be a classic. I was not very excited in tha match at all heading in, and I came out thinking the match was alright, which makes me think a lot of people expecting ***** from the two would have been EXTREMELY disappointed. But it was still a good match, and I really got into Act II and Act III of the match. It would hav been really nice if Guerrero had counted and they'd gone a bit longer, but what are you going to do? They didn't put on a bad show at all.
-Mike Awesome vs. Masato Tanaka should have opened the show, IMO. The two put on a really great show, and you could just tell the WWE guys were getting into it as well. Match of the Night for me. I read something about Mike Awesome and Tanaka working a spot into one of their previous matches where Tannak got hit with a German suplex, then bounced to his feet. Tha would have been awesome to see live. Awesome vs. Tanaka was the match that emboddied the night, IMO.
-Sabu vs. Rhyno was good. I like the way both guys came off looking good with RVD & Sabu working together to put away the Man Beast. I still think the WWE should re-hire Rhyno. He's reaching Matt Hardy-style popularity now that he's got himself into great shape and has realy gotten backing from the WWE and ECW fans in recent weeks.
-Rey Mysterio vs. Psicosis didn't disappoint me. That Psycho Guillotine was just awesome. I loved the way the fans booed the 619. Nothing phenominal from these guys, but with Mysterio working with a sore ankle, this was REALLY good.
-The 3-Way Dance was great, and the match I was most thrilled about. I'll probably remember that moonsault from Super Crazy my entire life. Th WWE should let Nunzio really go in the WWE, and this match didn't disappoint me. Part of me wanted to see Guido and Crazy be the last two guys, but the booking for this match made HEAPS of sense
-The Dudley Boyz vs. The Sandman & Tommy Dreamer was a really fun match, and really was the best choice for a main event. Everything about this match was fun, and Beulah and Bubba Ray mis-co-ordinating their spot didn't even phase the energy of this match. With a crowd like ECW, that means magic.
-The RVD and Paul Heyman shoot promos were good, and Heyman's comments to Edge and JBL made me really mark out. I almost orgasmed when Paul said to Edge "I've got two words for ya'....MATT FREAKIN' HARDY!", and I can guarantee you Matt Hardy would have too. That was some awesome support for Hardy right there.
There's only one complaint I have about the show. WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T RHYNO GORE BISCHOFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That would have really, REALLY made the night complete. It's nothing too big, but everytime Austin said something when they were moving Bischoff around, I was hoping for a Gore, and I could tell the fans were too.
Great show, and if the WWE are smart they'd take notes. 1. Let guys go to the best of their ability in the ring, 2. USE HEYMAN!!!!!!!!!!

Well, my working place recieved the release date for ECW: One Night Stand DVD.
It's scheduled to be released on June 28. From what I read on the event, it's a MUST BUY. It would be in the best interest of business for WWE to leave it uncensored.

Holy shit. Honestly, I marked the fuck out for that Pay-Per-View, even though I was expecting it to be mundane and watered down.
I'm somewhat pissed about the censorship, as they promised ECW no holds barred, and they were on Pay-Per-fucking-View, but even THAT was made up for by Masato Tanaka vs. Mike Awesome and also the main event segment.
Heyman on the mic was great too. I don't know what kind of clearance he had or what of that was discussed in advance, although I would say that by the reactions of all three men he addressed, it was at least fairly rehearsed. Still nice play to the "internet fans", because as you may or may not remember, ECW fans were always said to be some of the "smartest fans in all of wrestling".
Beaulah surprised me due to Byte This. I can't begin to describe my reaction when TaZ came out. That's right, as Styles said, ONE Z.
Like I said, GREAT show. The only regretful thing apart from the fact that the office will probably give a lot of the credit to the crusaders is the fact that more past names could not or would not be a part of the show. I really hope that guys like Terry Funk and Shane Douglas were watching the show from somewhere.
Marked out huge for the cheese grader too. My favorite pro wrestling weapon ever. :o

During the final brawl segment, John Bradshaw Layfield allegedly targeted Blue Meanine and completely stiffed him. The shots were so hard that Meanie's cuts from Hardcore Homecoming were reopened.
_ Also after the cameras stopped rolling, Tommy Dreamer rolled into the ring and began crying, before bowing to the ECW logo. The fans chanted "thank you, Tommy," with the Dudleys returning to the ring to embrace Dreamer. Dreamer then left and hugged fans at ringside on his way up the ramp.

Why? This was a show to honor the legacy of ECW. Matt Hardy's personal beef with the guy who stole his girlfriend has nothing to do with that. Heyman ripping on Edge makes perfect sense and gave his promo a shoot feel. But Hardy actually being there...

He neg repped me for what I said about the prediction for Friday SmackDowns via another thread that he has yet to answer me about.
But anyway, my purchase was not in vain. Is it me, or has the WWE really stepped it up a bit with their PPV's lately. They didn't disappoint on Judgment Day (from my POV), this thing kicked major ass, the Royal Rumble was tight (the Casket Match on it brought back memories), and although Wrestlemania 21 was something I didn't get the chance to see, from what I hear, the show had a LOT of good things in it. Maybe the WWE is finally getting it right with the PPV's.
And one more thing: I may not even have to PAY for this one. During the Sandman's entrance, my Comcast "flip-bar" thingie said that I "missed" the program (I had purchased it by phone earlier in the day, but then I had to call them again because I couldn't get a picture until 20 minutes into the Free For All), and thus, I wouldn't be charged for the showing, even though I was watching it ALL NIGHT LONG!! Not sure if this means I'm not getting billed for this PPV, but if it does, this would be SUPER SWEET!!

First off, I clearly explained why I thought TL's argument was bad. Thus the neg rep. I'm sure I'll end up giving him a positive rep eventually and all will be well.
The rep you got was mainly for your argument that SD being moved to Fridays would be a good tihng and the stuff you said about the relaxed censors that had no basis in actual facts. I didn't answer your PM because I don't think its that big a deal; I don't use the neg rep thing to point out when I disagree with someone but mainly when I think that they're just talking out of their ass.

How is this icing on the cake? Hardy had nothing to do with ECW. This would be wasting time at an ECW event to hype up a "rivalry" between two WWE workers. Why not just have Sharmell come out and cut a promo on Angle? Let me guess..since the Hardy/Edge beef is real, then it would be EXTREME to have them brawl at the PPV.
Like I said....Heyman shooting on the WWE contingent (especially with stuff that the WWE would never mention on its TV shows) makes perfect sense. But having Hardy run out and take away from the PPV would've been a waste of time.

Just got home from watching the replay, I was at work for the live show. After reading through the whole thread there isn't much else I can say to praise this show. It was beautiful, purely entertaining the entire time.
There has been a little mention of this, but Guerrero really killed that match for me. I'm not sure if he was feeling well, but if he was he looked totally uncooperative. He goes and stands outside the ring for a minute or 2 after the match starts? wtf! I figured he got a stiff shot or something, it was forgivable. The thing that really pissed me off was how he no-sold the crossface. He just layed there, waited a minute or 2, then tapped. He didn't struggle or even act like it hurt. He looked legitimately pissed off after the match. If he wasn't, then why the hell was he in character tonight? Argghhh, but enough of the down points.
Despite that one thing, this ppv was 100% worth the money. It would've been worth twice what I paid for it. It was very sad to see a lot of this stuff because now I know I won't be able to go back to WWE programming for a while. It's like they are showing us how great things can be, but at the same time telling us that we may never see it again.

Except, Austin owns Sandman in every way possible.
He even beats up his family better!
Seriously, though, ONS was the best wrestling event I've ever seen. And this is coming from someone who has been watching for a decade and a half and is obsessive about old tapes.
This was an ECW show. Yes, there were WWE guys there, but they were just window dressing for an ECW show. I was literally on the edge of my seat for most of the show and actually exclaimed out loud more than once (despite the fact that I was alone in my apartment). I almost teared up when Styles came out. I almost teared up when Heyman came out. Hell, I was on the verge of tears for two and a half hours. I have never been so moved by a wrestling event. Well, okay, I've been moved that way once (the Owen Hart tribute RAW).
I was  when the fans were booing the WWE themes. As soon as "Who's that jumpin' out the sky" hit, the crowd booed like crazy. As soon as Rey showed up, they started cheering, but this was definitely an ECW crowd. Booing the 619? Beautiful.
Tanaka/Awesome was everything I hoped it would be. These two always put on some of my favorite brawls, and tonight was no exception. Chair shots. Tables. More chairs. More tables. Powerbombs through tables. Top rope chairshots. Top-rope powerbombs onto the remnants of a broken table. Yeah. Can't beat it.
And, even though I saw it coming a mile away, when the lights went out after Rhino attacked RVD, I still marked out like a little bitch when they came back up to show Sabu staring Rhino down. And an Arabian Headcrusher (technically not a Facebuster, since he did it on the back of his head) through the table to cap it all off. The next best thing to an RVD/Sabu tag match.
Speaking of RVD... I would normally say that I hope that shoot is the start of an awesome heel character for him when he returns from his ACL surgery. But I'm having a hard time imagining anyone booing him ever again. I was really hoping for a Van Terminator after the slidekick, but that probably would have snapped his leg in half, sending his shin and foot into the crowd like the kicker on "The Simpsons."
The only things (and I mean the only things) missing from the ending were a New Jack run-in (I was kinda hoping to see Sylvain Grenier get stapled. Don't know why), Raven, and Terry Funk. While it would have been kind of cool to see Shane Douglas, it doesn't bother me too much that he wasn't there. Oh, and I wasn't crazy about Austin being there, 'cause...well...I hate Austin.
And tonight proved that Joey Styles needs a WWE gig right fucking now. The man is knowledgeable, he's funny, and he's got a catchphrase that's better than "Bah Gawd," "Puppies," "Wait a minute," and "Tamata" rolled into one. Foley did a good job, but it didn't quite feel right without the Quintessential Studmuffin Joel "I'm like a Rubik's cube. The more you play with me, the harder I get" Gertner. At least we got a "Well! Well! Well!" out of the deal.
I honestly could just keep typing and typing and typing and typing about the phenomenal time I had tonight watching "One Night Stand." This was the ECW I remember, and this is the ECW I hope comes back.
And, Corky, I don't think that ECW would necessarily fail. As long as Vince doesn't try to put ECW in, say, Madison Square Garden, and keeps it in Hammerstein-sized venues. Hey, he's Vince McMahon, he can afford to buy Viking Hall, right? As long as the scale is kept small and Heyman (and maybe Dreamer if he's not willing to go full-time in the ring anymore) writing it, ECW's fanbase is so rabid that the ones just there for the ride would be totally drowned out anyway.
If ECW doesn't come back, that will be okay, too. Because tonight was a hell of a last memory.
Thank you Vince McMahon, for letting this happen (even though I'm sure you had people *cough*Stephanie*cough* telling you it was a bad idea).
Thank you ECW fans for keeping the atmosphere alive.
Thank you Joey Styles for those three little words you say that turn me back into a mark.
Thank you Chris Jericho, Lance Storm, Mike Awesome, Masato Tanaka, Little Guido, Super Crazy, Yoshihiro Tajiri, Chris Benoit, Eddy Guerrero, Rey Misterio, Psicosis, Rhyno, Sabu, Rob Van Dam, Bubba Ray, D-Von, Tommy Dreamer, Sandman...aw, fuck it, thank you ECW locker room.
And, finally, thank you Paul Heyman. Two words: You freaking rule!
The New F'n Show

While I must agree with some of you that a lot of the matches were watered down, especially the WWE workers, you got to consider a lot of things. Tommy Dreamer and Lance Storm have been in retirement for the past year or so except for an OVW match or two. This was the Dudleyz first match since November except for an OVW match or two. Rey Mysterio is working with an injury (don't know how severe it is or if it is even severe at all...but still doesn't help during a match). From what I've read on the 'net, Shane Douglas and others have put on benefit shows just to help Sabu pay his medical bills, which tells me that Sabu is probably in worse physical shape than ever, yet he and Rhino still had a really good match (even though Rhino didn't do a lot of his old spots...I was really wanting to see the piledriver off the apron through the table).
Did anyone else mark out for the reunion of Mikey, Tajiri and the Sinister Minister as much as I did? Or the F.B.I. for that matter? Only lacking members were Tommy Rich and Big Sal.
Mike Awesome vs Masato Tanaka gets my vote for match of the night.
I really wish Doring and Roadkill could've had a match, seems like there was plenty of time left. Don't know if Simon Diamond is still TNA contracted or was even there but they could've put C.W. Anderson (who, btw, was left off the list of ECW people who appeared at the PPV) and Johnny Swinger against them. Would've made sense since C.W. was the guy that got the team of Simon & Swinger to "drop the comedy."

Prepare for the same comments, but this time with spelling and grammar error ; )
Anyway, this was probably the best PPV i've seen since Mania 17, I've had time to think about it now (well 3 hours sleep) and I can honestly say I loved it that much.
Yes there were a few sore points, some of the matches didn't produce the potential that they had, but from Vince's point of view, you wouldn't want the talent on your books getting injured on a 'non-wwe' show. Most of the guys who wern't on the WWE books performed above the call of duty, Tanaka and Awesome to get special mentions there, Jesus I though Tanaka was dead after the first bomb to the outside, yet he still worked for another 10 minutes after!
It did actually make sense for the WWE guys to be there, as if I was there i'd be marking out for every guy that came through that curtian, you need heels, why not use the guys that are bound to get boo'd by the ECW crowd? There was a touch of overkill as JBL got more TV time than alot of the matches, but still it was ok and not to the point where I got pissed off with it.
Entrance music, man I wish some of the guys had the old music, I really wanted Guido to come out to staying alive by N-Trance, nevermind though as they paid Metallica for the right song.
The RVD thing can go one of 2 ways, he's either burned himself or pushed himself, I hope it's the latter as he was displaying the RVD I know and remember, back in a time when he didn't just say 'Whatever and Cool'
Same goes for Heyman I feel, If Vince wanted an Authentic show, he got one, I just hope he sees some of the new potential in the talent he already has to enhance them in the future.
Overall though i'm nit picking, this show gets and A* from me

47. Tommy Dreamer
48. Tony Mamaluke
49. Tracy Smothers
50. Yoshihiro Tajiri
All Roadkill did was cut a promo that was quickly cut off again, CW Anderson was only a fan at ringside, with Chris Champion, and you have Dreamer on there twice.

I think the icing on the cake would have been if Rhyno had brought out the ECW World title with him at the end and paraded it around etc.

This PPV seriously kicked more ass than a cheeseburger. Best fucking thing all year.
Crowd was awesome, RVD and Heyman promos were awesome, it was all awesome, even Mike Awesome was awesome.
I taped the fuggin thing, but I'm buying the freakin DVD when it comes out anyway.

Here's an ECW roster.
1. Al Snow
4. Beulah
14. Dawn Marie
16. Francine
22. JT Smith
41. Steve Austin
43. Taz
47. Tommy Dreamer
48. Tony Mamaluke
49. Tracy Smothers
You put Dreamer down twice.
Anyway those above ^^ I'd be doubtful over, pretty sure Snow is all but retired, Beulah was a one-night only, Dawn Marie is pregnant and I'd question whether she'd come back, Francine is out of the business, JT is I think retired, Austin and Taz don't wrestle anymore (and as far as I understand it Taz is happy that way), Dreamer is close to if not retired already, and I'm unsure if Mamaluke and Smothers work anymore.

Having said all that yes the whole thing was a blast from the past and fucking great viewing. First time in like 4 years I've stayed up to watch a PPV and it was worth it
Little bit annoyed they spent so much time on the invasion and the show ended 20 minutes early...could've had the matches go a bit longer. But that's a minor, minor point on a great show.
Let's just hope it's not completely whitewashed out of history in the next couple weeks.

That was amazing. Everyone else has summed up my feelings. Did anyone else get shivers when Sandman made his entrance? And when the fans sang along :D. A few questions though:
1) What is Foley's beef with Sandman?
2) I heard somewhere that Sandman has been to rehab/jail, for what reasons? If true?
3) Why did fans boo the 619?
I'm so glad I taped this thing, can't believe RVD and Heyman's shoots. Joey Styles is an absolute legend, some of the comments he said had me . The crowd was amazing too, it was without a doubt, an ECW crowd . BRING BACK ECW.

The fans booed the 619 because it is essentially a move that Rey uses just in the WWE. It's a WWE move, and because it's WWE, the ECW faithful will naturally hate it.
I don't think I really need to add anything to the 19 or so pages other than this was the most satisfying PPV of the previous 4 years and exceeded everyone's expectations. I can only thank everyone involved, whether its Vince or Heyman himself.
Awesome!

3) Cos it's been turned into a WWE esque move, ECW fans aint to fond of WWE ;), that whole match was disappointing.

Yep, Rey is obviously finding it difficult working with his injury and Pychosis just looked rusty. Nice spots but needed some lucha libre chain wrestling and reversal sequences.

Psicosis has no reason to be rusty, he's been wrestling in Mexico.

Hat guy was at Hardcore Homecoming. Maybe he just didn't have the $$ to be at ONS. I hear the tickets were sick expensive.
I could've sworn I saw Hat Guy in the fron row...I at least saw a guy with a straw hat...

My analysis of ECW One Night Stand:
I think WWE did an outstanding job putting ECW over at One Night Stand and it was a tremendous night...
Definitely the greatest thing I've seen in a very long time...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chris Jericho vs. Lance Storm
- great way to start off the show... Storm looked pretty good and pulled off some pretty good kicks/dropkicks... Jericho basically wanted to put him over here and I loved seeing Jason & Credible get involved with a reunion along with Dawn Marie...
Rating: 3.5/5 (for its position and purpose on the show)
Super Crazy vs. Little Guido (w/FBI) vs. Tajiri (w/Minister, Whipwreck)
- I loved seeing all these guys again... Fast paced old ECW style 3-way and an amazing highlight moonsault off the balcony... Really started the show off well at this point...
Rating: 3.5/5
Rey Mysterio vs. Psicosis
- Surprisingly the weakest match on the show for me... I loved the match and there were some awesome spots, however all the other matches seemed bigger for me... The B-O-R-I-N-G chant was also surprising considering the exciting match these guys could have put on...
Rating: 3/5
***At this point, the WWE guys arrived and they got a lot of mic time and they were running a lot of ECW promos and this is where the show started to seem a little shady... Fortunately, things really picked up...
RVD Shoot Promo
- I found this really entertaining and he really ripped up WWE in this one... You could tell he's truly ECW at heart and I wouldn't be surprised if he got buried or released after some of the cracks he made at WWE writers, storylines, matches, etc. This lead into a really exciting impromptu match...
Sabu vs. Rhyno
- Great match... Not given a lot of time, but they put on a show... Sabu was amazingly over and he put on a good show taking a lot of bumps and risks... This match seemed pretty important, to me at least... Seeing them put on a good match at this point of the show after the RVD promo was good to see... The highlight would be the exciting finish...
Rating: 3.5/5
Chris Benoit vs. Eddie Guerrero
- Really good match... However, I truly believe they could have made it a lot better... They didn't pull out all the stops, however it wasn't a bad idea to keep them safe for injury since they are both involved in revamping the SmackDown! brand...
Rating: 3.5/5
Masato Tanaka vs. Mike Awesome
- Amazing performance... Awesome was a little slow, but Tanaka put him over really well and these guys took amazing bumps... This match had so many near falls... Compared to what WWE is putting out there, this match is one of the better matches in a long time... Styles putting over Awesome was very nice and the way he started shooting on him was interesting... The finish was great too when Awesome leaped to the outside out of nowhere...
Rating: 4/5
Paul Heyman Promo
- Really in a good spot on the show... There was truly a lot of emotion... I laughed really hard when he said he smoked a joint with Van Dam in the back... The crowd's respect for Heyman was truly a great thing to see...
Sandman & Dreamer vs. Dudleys
- The interferences of Spike, Storm/Credible, Kid Kash, Axl Rotten/Balls Mahoney, bWo were very exciting early on... The entrances of Sandman and Dreamer were really special to me and Styles put over everyone nicely... The match itself was hardcore, exciting, fast-paced, unpredictable, brutal action... This lead right into the expected brawl and ECW was looking very good... Dreamer really bled his face off and the 3D through the flaming table ignited by Spike was something I thought I'd never see... To add to that, Credible hit the Tombstone Piledriver onto barbed wire... Some really good spots I'd never expect to see on a show basically by WWE...
Rating: 4/5
The random segments for the likes of Roadkill/Doring and Pitbull Gary Wolfe were a little odd and I think they could have come up with something better... The interferences in the main event from all the old ECW alumni divas like Dawn Marie, Francine, Beulah, etc were also a nice touch...
The cabinet and JBL did get a lot of time, however it went over well with the crowd and it let them chant out a little frustration... It didn't go overboard and was easily tolerable...
Joey Styles did an excellent job commentating and putting people over and Mick Foley did a pretty damn good job too considering he does this kind of thing rarely...
The Austin surprise appearance was really great and there were so many spots throughout the night, you could watch a 10 minute clip show of outstanding move recaps... To top it off, Taz came out and choked out angle... Styles: "yeah that's right, TAZ, one Z, ECW Taz"
Overall, I give this show a 4.5/5 because rarely will you see so many good matches on one PPV and the only thing preventing it from getting 5 was Eddie/Benoit, Rey/Psicosis not being as good as possible and the lack of guys like Saturn, Lynn, Funk, Douglas and Raven... They would have truly made the show complete... And RVD competing of course... Funk and Douglas didn't even need to wrestle, just to appear... Saturn would have been great to see, Lynn-RVD obviously and Raven-anyone...
Amazing night...

The great thing about the Ballroom is that even though it has a small capacity, it's such a small building the noise is so compact and there's no where for it to go, which makes the atmosphere immense. :y:

In response to the guy pointing out all the guys that most likely wouldn't be a part of an ECW revamp (like Austin, Taz, JT Smith, Francine, etc.), both Tony Mamaluke and Tracey Smothers still work pretty regularly. A friend of mine who wrestles in mid-state Tennessee had a conversation with Tracey Smothers a few months back and Tracey said without a doubt that ECW was the high point of his carrer in his own opinion.

That has to go down as one of the greatest wrestling PPVs of all time.
I would love ECW to come back full-time, but it just seemed fitting to end it the way that it did - With the INSANE main event, followed by ECW giving Bichoff the beating of his life. I thought I would never see the day!
But like I said, I think ECW should be left on the high note that it went out on, that ending couldn't be topped IMO.

i dont think anyone mentioned it, but there was a point where it shows a shot of the wwe wrestlers and you can hear edge say to the other guys, "these fans are smart." there were some other out of character moments when they show them if you listen hard enough. it was kinda interesting
