Awesome v. Tanaka @ ONS = One of the best matches i have EVER seen. Im very surprised that the WWE kept ONS pretty much about ECW, i figured they would have forced the whole RAW/SD! invasion throughout the span of the night, but the only real confrontation was at the end. Sabu's Arabian Face Buster on Rhino...man, that looked brutal. Just hearing Joey Styles do commentary made me mark out. Him and Foley actual worked well together. Dudleys v. Sandman/Dreamer was CLASSIC ECW. God, i hope this resurrects ECW.

Personally, I thought it was shite. But that's just me.

lol. Rob, you god damned kill joy. It captured what ECW was all about pretty well IMO. I think that's what they set out to do...

Well, i mean....bottom line is, its the closest thing we will get to ECW, so you take it and run with it, yknow? I wasnt expecting it to be good, and was pleasantly surprised it was a pretty decent ECW show. I didnt go in expecting ECW in its prime, just like i dont expect Triple H v. Batista feud to become the modern day Rock v. Austin, but you just kinda gotta accept the fact that, like it or not, this is what you have on the plate....

and on a side note, was anyone else scared shitless that Tanaka was about to get impaled by that shard of wood sticking out of the table?

It depends what you like in a wrestling match.

The people where I was watching and in the arena loved it, so its hard to speak bad about it.

But at the same time, there was no story in the match, it was just spot to spot to spot to finish. So I can see how some people could crap on it.

but i think its the case of that match, its pretty simple: Its Awesome v. Tanaka...i mean, do you need a story for their constant battles? Not really. Like RVD said, ECW didnt need no damn stories! But i could see how some newcomers to the ECW would be a lil lost at the whole thing

You dont need to have a storyline ot have a good match, but some fans feel every match should tell a story in the ring.

Awesome-Tanaka do not do that, they just go out and hit high spot after high spot. Its cool to see once in a while, but its not something that can be done night in and night out.

Thats why Awesome is very overrated. I heard a lot of people talking about Awesome after the show, and people were acting like he's something big, but he cant do that kind of match all the time. And when he has to wrestle a regular style match he gets exposed.

I enjoyed the match as a one time thing, but if I were to see that on a consistant basis it would get boring fast, and thats ashame when you think how much punishment they are going through.

Who cares if it didn't have a 'story', it was a one night thing, so it didn't matter.

Not really but I did say to myself "woah,so close" and it wasnt a shard of wood, I'm sure it was part of the table frame.

I was more worried about the state of the poor guy's neck after the first spot off the apron. Insane spot!
