ECW One Night Stand looks to have done 800,000 buys which is massive number. These often go down slightly from the first number (except WM 21 which went up). Either way, it's still huge.

OMFG!!!!!
They said a while ago they expected 300,000 for it to be considered a sucess.
FUCK!!! They have got to consider bringing it back now surely

well it would be nice to see it return but not for a long time. have to keep that special feeling in it. doing it once a year will kill it.

It would be foolish to not consider bringing ECW back after a buy rate like that.

What's the buy rates for the other ppv's from this year?

those are great numbers....glad to see the ECW ppv went over so well.
But you have to think that the numbers were helped by the fact it was a one time only ppv based on something that really has developed a cult following the past couple years. bringing it back full time would only cheapen the experience, etc.
I wouldnt mind seeing it once a year. What they should do is use the ideas and passion and incorporate that into raw and smackdown.
DAMN! Well that's what happens when you have an amazing show, people actually tune in to see it. I looked down upon bringing back the ECW brand to replace Smackdown, but with numbers like this, I think I've change my mind.

Holy shit. That's close to WrestleMania this year and DEMOLISHES XIX... If the buy rates are anywhere near that, I can guarantee that ECW will be back by the end of this year, maybe as early as the fall as a full blown brand.

Yeah those numbers aren't even true, they probably won't get back the actual numbers until July.

This has not been confirmed.
Numbers are never out this quick. At a minium it takes a couple of weeks for the number to come out.
I remember the Backlash after Mania 20, I think it was 1 wrestling who reported it did something like 600,000 buys and it would up being less than half of that.
That number could be right, but there's no proof.
Be patient children, be patient.

yea, I knew it would be big and even if that's not the #, it's probably somewhere around that. I mean, I ordered the dam replay at 11:00, which I have never done before, so the show was outstanding and deserves a big buy.

The WWE said they expected 300,000 buys from this. One report initially post-PPV said maybe 800,000. The real #s won't be out for a week or two.
800,000 is Wrestlemania type buys. If they get that much, WWE will likely go ahead with ECW.

Imagine what the buyrate might have been if everyone absolutely knew it would be a good solid ECW show and not watered down. Some people, like myself, who didn't order, were expecting the WWE to fuck it up, cause they have been known to fuck things up before I think.

That buy rate is awesome.
I'd love to see ECW back. One Night Stand was really my first time actually watching an ECW show from start to finish, and it kicked ass. When you say "They should bring it back" are you talking about the WWE? Cause if so, they'll probably do it differently if they are in charge of it....

I'd like to see ONS reach 800,000 buys....that would be embarrasing to the WWE
and make them improve the product hopefully (fat chance :shifty: )

As Joey Styles would say... OH MY GAWD!!!!!!!!
If this is anywhere close to the final number, then I really will wonder what management will think. A PPV whose card wasn't even advertised on TV getting a buyrate that nearly matches Wrestle-fucking-mania.
Then again, this was the first non-wrestlemania PPV that I've really wanted to watch after reading the results since like... last year's Royal Rumble, and before that, I don't even know.
I don't think they should bring back ECW, but how about letting the workers they have ACTUALLY USE ALL OF THEIR ABILITIES IN PPV MATCHES?
That might work ya know.
One reason PPV's have been comparatively shit lately is because they're nothing more than glorified TV shows. Five years ago, PPV's had that aura that made them feel special. Today, it's like paying $30 or $40 to watch an extended episode of RAW.

Remember, WWE is having the PPV encore presentation every night this week...I think this will obviously boost buyrates b/c people might want to watch this ppv over again (if they didn't already video record it).

If the buyrate was actually 800,000 (which I doubt), then the WWE needs to respond to placate to this 'hardcore' fanbase.

I hope the buyrate is high just so Heyman,RVD and Dreamer can stick it in all of their faces.

A bunch of us were saying that Paul E, and who ever he can get should just start all over. Remember that Heyman's contract is up soon. Alot of people said that it was Paul's sense (or lack there of) for bussniess that killed ECW, and while that's true consider 2 things:
1) TNN had a big part of the final killing of the company
2) Everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY learns from their mistakes.
Even if Paul started up a little indy fed (unfortunately I very much doubt that WWE will EVER release the ECW name to Paul) after a massive success like this, you know it wouldn't be long before they got things off the ground again. I just jave a REALLY bad feeling about a "constant" WWE ECW, and I would rather see it living as a LEGIT indy version in some gymnasium, than a WWE version that will eventually leave a bad taste in all our mouths.
Well, getting figures in days afterwards is by no means representative of the final number. It is still feasible that it does average or below average by the standards of other WWE shows. Don't get too excited by the figure just yet, because that is not at all accurate. The real preliminary numbers will be out in about two weeks, which will be a more realistic representation of what number this show has done.

That would be cool, but without the assistance of WWE and its employees, I doubt Heyman would have sufficient resources to successfully relaunch ECW. Without respected former stars like RVD, the Dudleys, Jericho, Benoit et al (and with the WWE keen on hiring other ECW members such as Psicosis, Super Crazy and maybe Kid Kash) it will fall flat on its face.
Fair play, Heyman has learnt to create new stars and he has an amazing ability to do the best with what he's got - he's had to; with WCW and WWF stealing all his heavyweight champions he had no choice (for example, making Steve Corino, Jerry Lynn and Justin Credible stars in the voids left by Taz, Awesome and Douglas). But he'll need a fanbase to begin with, which causes a problem because very few are going to be tempted to watch a replica-ECW without established stars. Put simple, he won't have the time to put other over.
In regards to TNN as responsible for ECW's demise, I've just got to say that ECW lost money EVERY year it was in business. Heyman was never great at the financial side of the business, especially after the departure of Todd Gordon. I doubt Heyman himself wouldn't even have confidence in his own abilities to run an entire federation from scratch.
So, it looks like ECW can only be resurrected with Vince's help. Whether or not Vince will do this is debatable. On one hand he prostitutes just about anything for a quick dollar, on the other he has his pride and ego... which might not allow him to maybe admit he was wrong and that there are alternatives to WWE which can, and judging by the ONS buyrate, have done just as well.
