CM Punk = WWE contracted

Raven = Champion of a dead company

AJ Styles only had the title for a month lol.

Raven kicks ass though, and I'm glad he has the title.

Wow. Let's put it on a guy who was in his prime a decade ago, instead of keeping it on the guy who's synonymous with our company.

And we wonder why they're fucking tanking.

I'm a fan of Msr. Levy's, but this was dumb. This is just TNA trying to make up for putting JJ over Raven a while back when Raven was red hot and everyone on the planet expected him to go over JJ for the title. They wasted an opportunity then. And instead of doing the smart thing and solidifying AJ as the TNA's franchise player, they did this which was too little too late.

Also, notice that JJ wrote himself out of the show so as not to lose in two consecutive PPV's.

And since no TV deal was announced, this basically doesn't matter because the company looks dead anyway.

Well, it was smart to put the belt on Raven because according to what was stated...the fans went nuts for Raven before and after.

Oh all of the 200 people in the audience and the 50 who actually paid for the PPV?

The CM Punk thing looks interesting because form reports I've read, he basically won the match, gave a sick promo where he turned heel by aying he'd spent the last year working the fans, then rna out with the belt instead of doing the typical unnnounced title match with Daniels.

Then the Fallen Angel turns face by telling the crowd howproud he was to be associated with ROH and how wnning the title is his destiny. My guess is that Daniels goes on a ROH tear (hopefully all those TV dates in TNA don't wear him out ) and then beats Punk in a pay-off match a few months from now.

Yes, Punk has a WWE deal, but I'm sure they'd allow a developmental talent to go work an indy show.

Y'know..if Spike likes the UFC stuff so much, why haven't they looked into an ROH show ince its less cartoony and much more of a shoot style company?

Christopher Daniels is better than AJ Styles in every way. However, He isn't involved in this so I'll say that this decision is has its negatives and positives. Raven has a hardcore fanbase, but you are risking AJ's chances of becoming the personification of TNA Wrestling. However, I look at TNA as a dead promotion. Therefore, too little too late for Raven, AJ Styles, and TNA.

The fans popped because of all the residual emotion left over form Raven's ;ast push.

But think about it this way: AJ ending JJ's year-long title reign was an emotional high for the comapny and a good point to build from. Especially for Styles who, having just signed a big contract, is going to be the TNA franchise for as long as the company exists (til September or so at this rate). Ending it after a month is just...

Remember what it was like at WM 20 when you saw Benoit beat HHH and HBK and then what it was like in the ensuing months when Benoit became a glorified curtain-jerker, not even being used as the focus of any storylines, and then when he lost to Orton he seemed even less important than he was before he won the belt.

Styles wasn't even on TV as the World Champion, so literally the first time he stepped in the ring as champion, he lost the belt. Regardless of the audience reaction, it was a bad decision.

I agree that TNA is run pretty shitty....but to just call them a dead company for sure is a little too bold. Yeah, I think they're fucking stupid and it is as if the company is dead considering no tv. However, according to them and others, there's a good chance theyre going to ink a deal with a station for 2 hrs and more than likely for Monday Night. So, just assuming that the company is dead...is kinda, well, too bold of a statement to make.

PureHatred, I agree with just about everything you said. I don't get the point of Styles having the belt for a month...but if they had to take it off of him, Raven would be the best choice.

As for the Pearl Jam fan, saying 50 people bought the PPV is funny but rather ridiculous. It's definitely more than that.

Again, I'm no hardcore TNA fan, but it seems like everyone despises the poor company and has been calling them dead for the last three years LOL.

The thing is, they've been dropping hints about a new TV deal for weeks now. Before the PPV, they even announced via their site that at this show there would be a new deal to announce. Instead, they give us the fact that they are gong to webcast Impact.

I'm hoping TNA isn't dead. And they may have a deal in the works. But it just seems that by now they'd have their shit more together.

WTF? Now I'm a Raven fan but come on. AJ Styles takes the title off of JJ after almost a year of JJ holding the belt and then the first time he wrestles, he loses. Which booking genius came up with that idea. Ah well that's one way to make your main guy look like the worst champ ever.

What a bunch of idiots. There was an ideal time to give Raven the title which, as we all know, passed. Giving it to him now with very little build up and after Styles had just taken it off Jeff Greedyguts, beggars belief.

I someitmes don't get the logic of TNA. I mean I'm a huge Raven fan and enjoy the idea of him finally being champ again, but as said many times AJ just got the title. It really doesn't do too much good at all for AJ to lose the belt so qiuckly.

The Mackem
06-21-2005, 08:29 AM
It makes his title run look like a complete fluke. He didn't win the belt clean, by the way I just watched the PPV yesterday when he won the belt and he loses the belt in, what was it, his first match? Did he actually defend the belt against anyone?

In fact you could say that Jarrett comes out with more credibility than Styles from the last PPV.

The only thing I can think of is that they want AJ back in the X division, and leave the World Title for the older bums.

Impact!

As good as AJ is, he's really become a spotfest sort of guy, and in the world title area other than Xpac and to a lesser extent jeff hardy, theres no one who really mixes with his style of wrestling. Now i'm not saying they cant have good matches, but while their getting on TV they probably are best to put AJ back into the X Division scene where he can compete with people like Chris Daniels, Shark boy, Elix Skipper, Chris Sabin, Amazing Red and so forth.

That then leaves the world title to the more experienced, more well known wrestlers who have similar styles of wrestling, like Raven, Jarret, X pac, Jeff Hardy :-\ , Abyss, Samoa Joe (eventually), and so forth.

Now this is how I'm taking it, I could be right, i could be wrong, we'll soon find out. Now if they hire some people like "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson, Colt Cobana, Matt Stryker and others they could really get big.

once again just MY oppinion

The Mackem

But if the plan is to put AJ back into the X division (for the tenth time after being in the World title scene) why did they drop Jarrett's belt to him in the first place. Sheer madness.

See..that makes no sense whatsoever. Of the six guys you listed as Heavyweight possibilities, AJ has put on great matches with four of them in the past, hihc makes wrestling style a moot point. And the other two - X-Pac and Hardy - are actually better X Division wrestlers as well.

Also AJ is a spotfest but Hardy isn't? :wtf:

Also, how are Samoa Joe and Abyss 'more well known' than AJ Styles? TNA has no crossover appeal whatsoever, so the only people watching are wrestling fans and Internet smarts. Among that group, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that 90% of them know who AJ Styles is.

I know this is just your opinion, but the logic is hugely flawed and basically shows exactly why it was dumb to take the belt off of Styles at this PPV.

**EDIT** Actually, having thought about it a little, there are some sensible reasons to but the strap on Raven. They just aren't any of the ones you listed.
