Why is nobody talking about this? It is going to be amazing if you ask me.
Especially the one in Barrie, Ontario since Motley Crue is playing it.

The organisers are on crack if they think 5.5 billion people are going to watch this.
el fregadero
06-28-2005, 04:27 PM
That means almost 1 billion people aren't going to watch it. What are they doing wrong?
Mr. Monday Morning
06-28-2005, 04:33 PM
5.5 billion accounts for like 80% (probably more) of the entire world's population. God only knows how many people in Africa alone won't have any means of watching it (oh the irony) and general apathy/lack of knowledge will push the numbers of how many actually watch way down.

Some concert thing from those ONE people, MTV and VH1 are televising it.
Word has it they don't play for long. Like 20 minutes at the most or something like that. So like 1 or 2 Floyd songs.
el fregadero
07-01-2005, 03:03 AM
That's probably all that will be on tv, but they are in concert in London I guess. MTV will go to all these different concerts and show like about 20 minutes of a bunch of different bands.
Mr. Monday Morning
07-01-2005, 07:31 AM
Nah the 20 minute thing is for real, supposedly there'll be some sort of rotating platform or something to keep the bands moving along.
Not joking here either :|

07-01-2005, 03:43 PM
That means almost 1 billion people aren't going to watch it. What are they doing wrong?
I won't be watching, I'll be at work.
And this 10 minute limit is annoying, there's too many bands to have a decent stage time.
and if they break their set time, they'll just be unplugged and rotated.LOL that's the funniest thing ever.

Most of the day has been pretty crap, I did like UB40, REM and even the Scissor Sisters were entertaining for a change.
But Velvet Revolver were fucking AWESOME in London. Acheiving new levels of awesomeness.

Highlights:
Pink Floyd
Gordon Lightfoot
Neil Young (especially the "Keep on Rockin' in the Free World" finale)
DMC
Green Day
Deep Purple (you can tell they make their money touring)
REM
Elton John
Surprises:
Robbie Williams (never thought he'd be that good live)
Madonna (same as Robbie)
Disappointments:
Blue Rodeo (not musically, I just didn't care for their set selection)
Bryan Adams (same as Blue Rodeo)
Tom Cochrane (poor opening for the Canadian Show his voice seemed shot)
Paul McCartney (dunno why, I'm just disappointed they didn't end with Floyd. "Hey Jude" is just too overdone nowadays)
Strange:
Canadian fans booing Celine Dion. Funny, but not very appropriate in my opinion considering the event.

Well think of this. Every band made the effort to go to the actual site the gigs were taking place. Celine does the Canadian one, in fucking Vegas. She has such an ego, she records her performance in Vegas, acts over dramatic as usual, and expects that to go over well. Can she not leave Vegas for one moment? No wonder they booed.

That's why I found it funny because I found Celine to be in typical Diva form. Then again she is likely under some kind of contract with the Hotel. That will be her excuse anyway.
Given that it was a charity event, I'm thinking the fans were still out of line. It reminds me of when the fans booed Justin Timberlake at the SARS concert. Again, I found it hilarious, but when you stop to think about why you are there, it was probably the wrong thing to do.

I went to the London gig. It was pretty cool - tired after standing all that time. Coldplay, Pink Flloyd and dare I say it Robbie Williams were the best acts wooo.
Mr. JL
07-22-2005, 01:45 AM
Yeah, this is a little late but I have been so busy I haven't really had time to think or type up anything.
I must say the finale witrh Neil Young and keep on rocking in the free world was amazing. You just can't describe it. It felt really surreal.
I must say Simple Plan really got the crowd going, not my personal favourite but they sounded pretty good. My favourite performance was Our Lady Peace. I've just been so busy with working full time, summer school, girlfriend, family that I still haven't had any time to really reflect.
I would have really liked to be at the London concert tho with Pink F'N Floyd
