Does Tomko go with him then?

Just announced. JBL won the 6-man match, but Teddy said they didn't need to make a SmackDown Championship since they just drafted Batista and the World Heavyweight Championship. Batista and JBL got in a bit of a thing as the show ended.

So the final draft picks = Batista and Christian. Nice choices...though when is Christian getting his shot? :(

Batista was drafted.

Batista is now part of SmackDown! Check PWInsider.com for proof.

This means the six-way was a number one contender's match and that Cena will do the honors for Triple H on Raw.

Dammit. I wanted to see more of Christian-Cena. But maybe it's a good thing that he's away from HHH.

Well, Batista was obvious after last night. So good choice. They should have kept Christian on RAW to feud, but at least he can get his main event push on SD!

Good thing they didn't have to go through with the SD Title thing.

No Jericho?

So now Raw gets both Carlito's Cabana and the Highlight Reel?

Arrgghh.

"JBL won the six-way on Smackdown and was put over huge, constanty kicking out of everyone's finishers, but it turns out, it was for the No. 1 contendership for Batista. Christian replaced Show and the scary sign is that live, Christian was more over than any of the Smackdown regular"

Kinda sucks for Christian since the whole setup was seemingly for him to feud with Cena.

We still have the trades, so I am still hopeful that something will happen to get one of the two mini-shows onto SD!

Like everyone who watches wrestling thinks..................Smackdown got screwed by the Draft and that is the end of that.

How did they get screwed? Look at the facts:

Smackdown got Batista, Raw got Cena - 2 top babyfaces in business and World Champions - even swap.

Smackdown got Benoit, Raw got Angle - 2 great pure wrestling talents switch, Angle is like #2 Heel on Raw (HHH 1st) and Benoit number #2 face on Smackdown (Batista 1st)

Smackdown got Christian, Raw got Carlito - 2 upper-midcarders with great potential, over with the fans and both have great charisma and mic skill. Christian also has good in-ring ability and with a bit of work, so could Carlito.

Smackdown got Orton, Raw got RVD - These two can both be mega-draws if marketed right, and Orton is a Main-Eventer, RVD is an upper-midcarder, and Orton has the youth, so you could even say that Smackdown got the better in this situation.

Then once again you have Hassan on Smackdown who is at an upper-midcard level WITH youth, and Big Show on Raw who is at an upper-midcard level without youth.

Looking at it like that I don't think SmackDown got screwed by the draft - at all. You could say Raw got the better of the picks, but in no way was Smackdown "screwed" IMO, in fact if you're thinking about the future, Smackdown could be better off from the draft. The draw looks pretty even to me :o.

Just remember this.... "General Managers will be allowed to trade Superstars up until Midnight on June 30th." From WWE.com

SO in otherwords, just like last year when HHH was treaded to SD, he was then traded beck to Raw for RVD, Booker T, and The Dudleys (i think) so there may be more switches to come by Thursday night.

Raw did get the better of the draft, but in no way was smackdown screwed. They've just got their hands on -

Hassan - this guy can be the hottest heel in the business. And not x-pac/edge heat, this is real heat. Fair play, you can say his gimmick is finite, but at the moment, he's on fire.

Christian - this guy is super over! Like the reports said, he got the biggest reaction of the night. He's popular with marks and smarks and certainly a reason why i'll be tuning into Smackdown.

Batista - was headlining Wrestlemania little more than 8 weeks ago. In my opinion he's had the biggest push since Lesnar and I can't see signs of it stopping. Another great reason to watch the show.

Arrgghh.

When I saw the Cabana, I thought, "Wouldn't it be something if Rene came back, and they had a standoff between the three over which show will be the official interview show of Raw?" And right when I thought that, Carlito mentioned the Highlight Reel. It might be something if they develop this into a mini-feud.

I don't think that Smackdown got screwed either, but I think the show suffered a heavy blow with the loss of Kurt Angle. Kurt was a leader in the locker room, and if you read his Miami Herald interview, he strongly believed that Smackdown could transcend the b-show label that the writers gave it. He even termed Smackdown as a "family." Without Kurt's presence, I fear that the backstage community will degenerate now that the like of JBL are at the helm.

I mean look, Benoit and Batista(the two guys HHH has spent time 'putting over') have both been drafted. It makes HHH look strong again on that show.

Awesome, I have JBL on my fantasy team. :shifty:

Bet they take away the 20 title win points though.

--------

Anyways, seriously....I'm a little surprised at Christian...I thought for sure it'd be Jericho, but eh........still good.

I'm guessing they'll do at least 1 minor trade...for some reason I'm thinking it'll be something like Tomko/Snitsky for the Bashams

Bashams can join Raw's tag division, Snitsky can do something with Heidenreich (possibly even start a team), and Tomko can come back to be Christian's problem solver (cause really, what else would you do with Tomko?)

Christian is the #2 heel now behind JBL. Once Dancin Dave beats JBL, its time for Capt. Charisma.

I knew this smackdown championship was aload of crap.

While I'm tempted to similarly gloat...I'll instead sit back, smugly, and enjoy the fact that I've been saying "WHC to SD" since Cena got drafted (and pointing out the little flaws in the SD championship charade, etc.) ;)

Now this should be interesting - TPWW's lust for all things Christian squaring off with its unnecessary desire to bash Smackdown! at any turn. :p

Anyway, it's nice to finally have a heel depth chart on SD, with Jibble, Xian, Eddie, and Hassan/Daivari (and all these new cruisers, but they'll probably stick to their division). Now we can actually see mid- and upper-card faces (your Booker T's, your Chris Benoit's) in meaningful feuds with equal-level heels. And dat? Yeah...dat's cool.

If they continue to build the cruiseweight division as they're doing, then i can see good things for smackdown because that will give them something extra over Raw imo. This draft may of ripped smackdown of some of it's top stars, but what i think it's also done is given smackdown a better roster overall. Also raw now has some competition besides just HHH, so there should be a few more challengers for the wwe title.

Of course, before the weekend, you really couldn't use that argument, since no one knew they'd be drafted.

I just hope the writers treat Dave and Xtian well. On the other hand, given recent crowd reaction, he's prolly not staying heel for long. Which means SD! will have a shortage again, unless they bring Eddie and Orton into the fray.

If you look at it, tho, I think SD! actually has a bigger main event picture now:
- Orton
- JBL (yeah... I've accepted him as main eventer now)
- Undertaker
- Batista
- Benoit
- Booker T
- Eddie Guerrero

and you can pretty much add Christian to that list.

RAW:
- Angle
- HBK
- HHH
- Cena
- Jericho
- Big Show

That's like 8 vs 6.

So as it turns out, I agree: SD! wasn't really screwed by the draft after all. Too bad they're still gonna get screwed by UPN.

As I said in another thread, this could be good for SD!. There are still so many potential fueds by these trades and I think we should give it time because only UPN can screw SD! now. I just wish RVD could have stayed on SD! for a week just to fued with Super Crazy, that would have been hott!

And I will miss saying this on the Raw threads but...

otherwise, now that there's a champ on SD, I feel better about this.

I totally agree with you, Brock got traded to SD when he was the champ, then bischoff hands hhh a title, why? because everyone knew brock would hand hhh his ass. I want to see RVD with THE TITLE! not a secondary!

Mr. Nerfect
06-28-2005, 09:32 PM
Edge can't use his brief case now.

Oh, I think he'll use it. Whenever Smackers is low on heels, Edge'll just come in and try and take the belt away.

Come to think of it, wouldn't Bischoff be pushing Edge to try and get the title off Batista? Or better yet, wouldn't it make sense for Eric to use one of RAW's "higher-ups" to take the title, which would practically crush SD!? Edge can do whatever he wants with the MITB Title Shot, so why not have Eric trade Edge the shot for a match against Cena in any type of match he wants on PPV. Bischoff can then give the shot to Kane, HBK or The Big Show (he wouldn't give it to Cena, because if John loses it would make RAW look like the completely inferior brand) to face Batista. If you then have 'Tista win, it makes SmackDown! look pretty good.

Anyway, I'm happy with those draft picks. I hope they don't edit out Christian's pops. The guy deserves the popularity he gets. Personally I think they should market Christian around SD!, by having he start call SmackDown! the "Peeple's Show", referencing back to when SmackyD's was named after The Rock, and how The Rock once said Christian was his favourite wrestler, etc. Have him start calling UPN the "United Peeps Network" and stuff like that.

It's a shame Christian had to lose in his debut match, though. I hope he beats Orlando for the US Title next week or something. SD! can get two talk shows of their own. Revive "The Peep Show" and "Cafe de Rene" and you're all set.

Watching SmackDown now. There were "Muhammad" chants for Hassan that were not edited out.

The show started out being Hassan-ed.
