Well if Detroit is spending money on free agents this off season, what it accomplishes is making them more competitive as well as showing the fans of Detroit that the Tigers are trying to improve, thus re-energizing fan interest.
So it does accomplish something.
I don't see Pudge playing there... well actually I guess I could. He's got a WS championship and proved his worth (again) so maybe he wants one last big contract. Hmmm...

Before I read this, if it's about a team signing somebody, or any baseball news, it could go into the other thread don't ya think?
Not being a prick about it though. :)

I know, BCWWF might start crying again.
Anyways, it will help Detroit sell some tickets, which they're desprate to do... Nice new stadium that no one goes to...

well considering that no one in the AL Central is ever a clear cut favorite, the Tigers could have a shot if they sign some people

Appearantly. They said they weren't going to dismantle the team, but it sure looks different than that.

Im surprised they didn't go after/get Ponson.

Yeah the Tigers really really really NEED PITCHING. They got Jason Johnson from the O's which is a nice young addition, but they need a solid #1 starter.
In another note, the O's are going to be a real scary team within the next couple of years. They got Ponson back and that was HUGE cause now they have a solid #1 guy. And behind him they got some great young arms in Lopez, Moss and Ainsworth. Add Lopez, Tejada and Palmeiro and you got yourselves a contender. I wish they could of gotten Guerrero too though. And I don't know why I'm saying that being a Yankee fan, but I guess I enjoy seeing bad teams all of a sudden become good. I think the O's will be in the playoffs very soon.

I'm still under the impression that Bonderman will be the best pitcher in the majors over the next 15 years. Maybe this year will be his breakout year

AL East as a whole is scary......too bad only 1 (maybe 2) teams can come out of it

Bonderman is going to be good no doubt. There just seems to be too much expected out of him so soon though. Get a vet in there to take some of the pressure off him.

The Twins and the Royals clearly have better teams than any other in the AL Central. There is no way the Tigers get better than fourth, and even that would be a stretch.
