View Full Version : Gene Snitsky: Great One-Liner, Horrible Wrestler
I was chatting in WWE chat and I got to thinking about Gene Snitsky. The guy is great comically, but get him in a ring and it's all downhill.
I can pick out at least one thing wrong in every one of his matches. Whether it's a slip, a botch, or talking EXTREMELY LOUDLY TO OTHER WRESTLERS, there's something wrong.
Is it just me or does he seem a bit too green right now?

its true its not his fault. I dont know how he was before he came to the WWE but yes he does seem a little green now. Even though I like seeing on tv and think he is a pretty good personality for them to have around I think he should go back down to OVW for a while to get some stuff set up. Because basically when this whole Kane and Edge feud is over....hopefully at Summerslam...it will be bye bye Snitsky once again.

If you really want to break things down, you can find at least one thing wrong in everybody's matches. Think of your favorite wrestlers, go watch their matches, and I'm sure you can find something wrong if you really want to.
If Snitsky is comedically inclined, that's good enough for me. Different wrestlers have different things to offer. I'm fine with that, personally. People won't look to Gene Snitsky for five star matches and they won't look to Chris Benoit for awe-inspiring promos. They're both good in their own ways, though.

That's true, but Snitsky's are so obvious that it just isn't forgivable. He's extremely clumsy in the ring.

Maybe that's part of his character. He's so CRAZY that he didn't even learn how to wrestle correctly! THAT SON OF A BITCH!

The Clothesline he did to london at Royal Rumble was sick though (In a good way).

I'm glad that was said in the first post in the thread just so we can get it out the way.
My opinions on Snitsky vary. He's probably one of the few on the current roster who can make me laugh, like really laugh (whether his promo is meant to or not), but I'm guessing in a few months time that ability will be diminished somewhat. It's an act that will age fast.
In other words, he's going to have to come up with some new stuff, probably on his own too, to keep his place in the locker-room. Because as we've seen this week, no-one is safe from the chop.

It really isn't his fault. WWE doesn't look at their talent. Remember Mordecai? First they cancel a PPV appearance because he's too green (After they've hyped it), then they drop him back down to OVW...
Hey, let's give this guy a monster push and pull the plug.

They could always claim it was a response to the poor fan reaction. Kind of like a mercy killing. But then again, you up anyone in a white suit, carrying round a mock crucifix and yelling out religious crap and they probably wouldn't go far either.

Yeah, but that's not the point. The point is they bring these guys up without even looking at them (seemingly).
Looking at it with that logic, I'm surprised that Snitsky has lasted as long as he has.
Masters looks more graceful in the ring than Snitsky...

seemingly? your argument loses a lot of its momentum when you put seemingly at the end of it. Seemingly, do you know this is what they do? It might just be that they do look at their recruits, and they do research them and select the gimmicks which they think talent might go far with, but its the wrestlers who choke and fuck it up (seemingly)

Snitsky's more entertaining though. Not by much, but still. He's got the charisma of a brick, instead of a sock.

Do you KNOW that Triple H books only looking out for himself? That argument can be used in any situation.

Actually, since my argument is that they're bringing up green stars, which is not affected by whether or not they actually see them perform first, you're wrong.
And I'll say it again. The problem is they bring up these guys and THEN decide they don't have the chops. It's like they don't even look at them first. While it's possible that they look at these guys first, it doesn't fit with them yanking them so fast. Either way, it doesn't make a fucking difference and doesn't really hurt my argument. All it does is state that I won't athoritively state why they're doing it like some arrogant know-it-all fuck. I don't know why they're doing it. All I know is that it's a bad business move, and a trend in stupidity to desperately bring up all these guys (Which has been pegged by people IN THE BUSINESS as a desperate attempt to find the next Steve Austin or Rock...), only to THEN decide they don't have what it takes. What ever happened to scouting for talent? Fertig evidently didn't have the chops, since he's been released while working OVW.

I was going to make a joke about foley being as charismatic as a sock too, but I'm aware such blastpheme on the forum would warrant much negative reps (frustrating more-so because I'm a something of a Foley mark)

Yeah, when dealing with motives we can't prove, it makes no sense to take an authoritarian stance.

Yeah, but he had the charisma of Mr Socko, not just ANY sock.

Ok you got me. I'll concede defeat here. I can see where you're coming from - bringing up Fertig and Snitsky so fast it made their boots spin was a bad move. And I'll also accept that most of what is said in this forum is speculation and assumption, other wise we'd all have to work for the fucking company to know what we were saying was true or not (and even then, that doesn't always help).

You can't just cover something in marker pen and pretend it's something totally different and amazing.
No, actually wait, Jeff Hardy does that to himself every week :shifty:

Heidenreich's another good example. And they did it with him TWICE.

Heidenreich's a lucky bastard. He's escaped the roster cut probably on the basis he's only been around for a few months. They probably felt it would be unfair to release him without giving him a proper try (especially after all the hype). My guess is that if he'd been around for longer, and consistently on tv too, then he'd be gone, gone, gone.
but of course, i'm just speculating. :shifty: :D

I'm entertained by Heidenreich, the same way one might be transfixed by a car wreck. His poetry, his marching, it cracks me up. He's an unintentional goldmine. Total camp.

It's scary that he's still pretty much doing the same gimmick that was meant to make him into a monster heel (albeit with the camp turned up) and he's suddenly a cutesy wootsey face. WTF!

Last time I saw Heidenreich was when he came down to the ring with a rather HUGE hersey bar and what looked like anal leakage over his face. Bear in mind, I rarely ever watch Smackdown and when I last did, our friend John was a monster heel.
Needless to say, I was confused.
Then, he started reading poetry again, and I felt comforted and had a reassuring sense of normality again. although i was still confused over how that anal leakage had been emitted orally.

Snitsky needs to play on his one-hit-wonderdom.
He wins by cheating, putting his legs up on the ropes. When he gets caught in the replay, he can say "That wasn't...MY...FOOT!"
Impact!

Apparantly Snitsky was only on Raw to hit Kane with the chair and cause the miscarriage, but when people started to react to him they brought him back.
