Cheers.
After Shelley Long left, that show went down hill, yet it was still on another 5 years. Not that she was the star, but she was perfectly cast.

Happy Days.
Jumped the Shark, but still carried on for quite some time. Not to mention the spin offs from it.

Loose Cannon

Family Matters: Went on forever. They even had to recast the mother during the end of it.

Friends went off at the right time I think. Just long enough.

Simpsons.

Bizarro Triple A

The Cosby show: Started getting corny and felt weird when all of the regulars had grown up and left, then they kept on getting younger new kids to replace em.

As long as ER and House continue, I'll be content.

But I agree with Joey. The Simpsons is stale and has been for quite a while now. Bring back Futurama.

Nah, they'd botch it like they're doing with Family Guy

I don't know how you can say Cheers. Some of the best episodes are when Shelly Long left.

Scarface

Simpsons.
Friends wasn't interesting me that much up until the 10th series where it started getting good again. Joey is pretty terrible.

Star Trek

It lasted all of three seasons. This is too long... how exactly?

Shut up Baird, I know you said this already, but I wasn't letting you take it from me.

Die. Star Trek owns j00.

As for shows that went on too long, I can't believe no one said All In The Family. Good lord. The show is great for a while, then Mike and Gloria leave, then Stephanie shows up( :foc: ). Total waste of time after that. And don't forget Archie's Place( ).

Over here in Australia, Big Brother monopolises everything, and it gets REALLY frustrating to keep hearing people talk about it. It's like the fifth season over here, and every year I groan whenever it is announced. I guess it gets the viewers in, though. :-\

The last 2 series were total shite.

The only reason Red Dwarf started to suck was because Rob Grant, one of the 2 main writers and creators of the show left at the end of series 6. If he stayed on then Red Dwarf would have gone from strength to strength I thought the show was at its funniest in series 6.

At least it's better than the X-Factor. Man, that show was awful. :$ So slow moving and boring, with that toss from Neighbours as the host. God.

Was watching the end of the first series of the X-files on FX today and it really hit home how shite the later series of it were...

The Simpsons - They really should have stopped around Season 10/11
Red Dwarf - Hit it's peak around Season 5/6, 7 was OK, 8 was just appaling
Big Brother (UK) - Hell I still get drawn into it somehow, and it pisses me off so much. 1,2 & 3 where ok, but now we're up to 6, and the whole show reeks of the producer trying to hard to cause trouble in the house.

With Star Trek, you had so many spin offs. Although I'm a sci-fi geek I found they really diluted the series.

Uh, no. ER is now into it's 11-12th season and should've ended last May when the last of the original cast left. There's really no reason to watch it now.

As for the Simpsons, it has it's shining moments still but I would have to agree that maybe it's time to call it a show and end it.

My choices are:

X-Files: after Mulder wasn't around - utter shit
Cosby Show: the addition of several nieces and cousins and whatnot, I stopped watching
Frasier: once they hooked up Daphnie and Niles I couldn't handle it anymore
Alias: it should call it a day now, can't get into the twists and turns they're adding to the series now

I hope and pray, even though they have signed it on for another 2 years, that this is the last year for the show 24. Last season would have been a great way to end it, Jack walking off into the sunset a free man, but no longer Jack Bauer.

Jack Bauer/Kiefer Sutherland = THE MAN

I agree with everyone's views on the X Files. It just wasn't the same when Mulder wasn't a major character and it seemed to me that Chris Carter and the other writers were grasping at straws, looking for new possible stories ... some of which were mediocre at best.

I'm saying this, and I'm a huge fan ...
