Mike Johnson at PWInsider.com is reporting that the WWE have been in talks with two former Cruiserweight stars, and have sealed their returns to the company.
James Gibson, who competed in WWE as Jamie Noble, was at the WWE's headquarters in Stamford, CT, on Wednesday.
Johnson is reporting that "numerous sources" have confirmed that Gibson, along with Brian Kendrick - who had a run in the WWE under his real name, and later as Spanky - have agreed to re-sign with the WWE, although no start date has been agreed as of yet.
It is expected that the pair will be allowed to fulfil their numerous independant bookings. Gibson and Kendrick are booked for ROH's double shot on August 12 and 13, but the company's website does not have any dates listed for them after that point.

Very happy that they're on their way back, but I would almost want them to stay away if they are just going to be underutilized once again.

I'd rather see them underutilized than not see them at all. I remember Noble and Spanky having some awesome one-on-one matches on Smackdown. A friend of mine was hanging out one day while I was watching it and he even thought they were awesome, having no clue who either guy was.

I heard about Gibson, after seeing his stuff in ROH hopefully they actually let him wrestle.
Thrilla, try to find a copy of ROH's Third Anniversary Celebration Part 2. It's Gibson's debut match against Spanky. It was awesome

Hmmm, bit suprised at the Spanky one, I seem to remember he left under his own terms....:-\

Fignuts just creamed his pants
I was making a bowl of ice cream, you see, and I said to myself,"Well golly Mr. Jeepers. (Mr. Jeepers is my cat) I can't have a bowl of ice cream without whipped cream." And so I applied said whipped cream with great trepidation. Unfortunatly, I had left the screen door open, and a bee came buzzing about the room. Now Mr.Jeepers being an excitable fellow leapt into action, giving chase to the unwanted intruder. As it happens, he knocked my bowl of ice cream into my lap, and left me quite a mess. Needless to say, Mr. Jeepers will not be receiving any tuna treats tonight.
Good news for the two of them. Just please tell me that Kendrick will get a new name.
Hmmm, bit suprised at the Spanky one, I seem to remember he left under his own terms....:-\
Wasn't that to better himself as a wrestler. He obviously did, WWE took notice and he decided to go back. Plus being one of HBK's guys probably helped.

Can you imagine Spanky vs. London for the Cruiserweight Title?
WWE's Cruiserweight Division, though still woefully overlooked, is incredibly deep.
Paul London
Rey Mysterio
Juventud
Super Crazy
Psicosis
Nunzio
Simon Dean/Nova
Funaki
Scotty 2 Hotty (terrible gimmick, but has some in-ring skills)
MNM
Jamie Noble (if this is true)
Spanky (if this is true)
Plus, on RAW, there's still Tajiri and Hurricane. Maybe they can work out a deal where they get them for Hassan/Daivari. I'm dreaming, I know.
And they have a ton of cruisers under developmental deals: Kid Kash, Frankie Kazarian, Danny Doring, the Thrillseekers (Matt Cappotelli and Johnny Jeter), Tony Stradlin, etc.
Can you imagine if that division were booked properly? That roster is almost (almost) as strong as mid-'90s WCW's cruiser division.

Noble KINDA did too. Like, they didn't want to let him go, but he felt it was the right thing to do or something.

I am so happy that they're on the way back. I have had visions of seeing these two return and be cut loose on the cruiserweight division, now that actually has a chance of happening.
Jamie Noble can play both the face and heel roles well, but I'd rather see him come in as a face trying to re-earn his stripes. Maybe even have him call himself "James Gibson" this time 'round. Spanky is awesome as the arrogant cruiser, and he will make either a great foil or running buddy for Paul London. Part of me wants to see Spanky go to RAW for a few nights to help out Shawn Michaels against Hulk Hogan. I would mark out for a Shawn Michaels, Spanky, Garrison Cade, Paul London & Marty Jannetty beat-down of Hogan. Hell, have HBK officially past the torch to Kendrick if you want. HBK vs. Spanky is a RAW match I would wet myself over. Then have Brian head over to SD! to feud with London or someone.
I think the WWE should trade Heidenreich, Animal, Hardcore Holly & Torrie Wilson for The Hurricane, Rosey, Tajiri & Stacy Keibler, just to swap the tag belts, freshen up the diva scene, and get Hardcore Holly in the IC Division and Tajiri in the CW Division. But...
JAMIE AND SPANKY BITCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111
Seriously, forget about cruiserweight division in the WWE. Don't care how much the fans want it, it's never gonna happen.

WWE HIRING new cruiserweights????
It'd be cool to see them back, but as long as the WWE insists on everyone wrestling their slowdown, "safer" style, CW matches will still be nice at best, and dismal most often.

Sadly, there will be no more fire in the disco...or the taco bell
And Gibson needs to keep his indy theme, country boy can survive

I think they are pushing for a Mexicool/London, Spanky, and Noble feud.
That would be gold.

It would be gold...Until they buried it and fired all the CWs two weeks later.

Spanky walked out on the comapny because he wasn't happy they were trimming him down. Noble is on his way back after being treated like royalty in the indies. I'm pretty sure the only reaosn these guys would have caved in to the WWE's offers is if they are either starving for a buck (which is likely) or if the WWE has promised them a little screen-time. What's the point of re-hiring them if you're not going to use them anyway?
I'm probably being hopelessly optimistic, though. :-\

Thought it was steroids.
He owned to up to using 'roids when road agents found a disgarded needle. The door was always left open for him to return should he 'clean up his act', which is ridiculous considering the artificial size of the current Smackdown champion and Kurt Angle's recent inflation.

Yeah. So optimistic you're applying logic.

Are you implying the WWE silently condones steroid use? :nono:

Because preferring his ROH name to his WWE name makes him smarkier than the rest of us.

Yeah this is great news if true, and if they're actually used properly. London/Spanky/Noble V Mexicools feud would be the goods :y:.

Mexicools have been moved to the tag division, which left open spots in the CW division, hence Noble and Spanky getting signed.

Rememberhow Jamie Noble originally "brought in" Nunzio as his "cousin". I can very easily see a six-man tag team match lined up with Nunzio, Big Vito and a mystery partner taking on The Mexicools. Prior to the match, Nunzio tells Vito he made a call to his "cousin", and then Noble joins them as the third man.

Ya, but so did Brock Lesnar...and now Vince is trying to get HIM back in WWE also...anyone see a pattern developing in WWE lately?
I still wish they'd bring back Nidia and especially Molly Holly who requested her own release although Holly would probably not return no matter what unfortunately...would've been interesting to see if her hair had grown completely back to normal length, and i assume it would have eventually, if she might've used a new hairstyle compared to the pre-WM XX one she had.
