No, it's really because he is a 96 on NHL 2005.

BCWWF

NHL 05 has odd rating systems. The worst team is like 80 and the best is like 86. Not much of a difference.

TEEMU

LOL, OMG. The Canucks sign Anson Carter for a $Mil, when maybe they could have signed Teemu for the same money... Same thing with Ray Whitney. I hope Nonis has something up his sleeve be it this year or the next.

KleptoKlown
08-22-2005, 11:06 PM
Well Teemu wanted to go back to the Ducks. He might have wanted more from a different team :/

but yeah, they should have went after Whitney a little harder.

They traded for Steve McCarthy today from the Hawks...got him for a 3rd rounder. He's gonna have a chance to be a top 4 dman on this squad, especially with Sopel gone now (dumb fucking move  )

-edit-

and Malik

Some idiot kid the other day tried to tell me that the Avalanch were going to be bad this year because they lost Foote and Forsberg. He then proceded to say that the Wild would be one of the best teams in the league. Even as a Wild fan I know thats stupid.

If you still have Sakic, Hejduk, Tanguay, and Blake, you are going to be better then a team based around Marion Gaborik, Pascal Dupuis, Filip Kuba, and Todd White.

Avs arnt going to dominate anymore...we saw signs of that when they didnt take their division for like...the first time since they became the avs...

they'll still be a competitive team though.

there has been so many changes though, its its hard to say whats going to happen :/

Although i'd be happy if the avs, ranger, leafs, flyers and red wings choked and atleast 1 of those teams dont make the playoffs.

CNM
08-23-2005, 01:15 AM
Yeah the Avs won't suck by any stretch. Remember, they did pretty good in 03-04 with Forsberg playing only 39 games in the regular season.

BCWWF
08-23-2005, 01:18 AM
The Rangers not making the playoffs is to be expected

Y2Ant
08-23-2005, 10:51 AM
Yeah I think the Atlantic Division is pretty much just gonna be about the Pens and the Flyers, then probably the Islanders.

This works out well as I do not like the Devils or the Rangers.

I hope the big teams make the playoffs, and then choke to the smaller teams like in 02/03 :(

Yup biggest trade I'd say in the past 5-10 years or so in terms of it actually being talent for talent.

I really hope the d-man Ottawa throws in isn't soneone like Phillips or Pothier

JR to the kinds for a conditional pick was a pretty big trade :shifty:

Especially when the future considerations could end up being JR himself going back to Philly if LA is out of the playoff hunt and Philly is hurting

MoRcHeEbA

I would have given up redden as the D-man since they're virtually gonna have to give Heatley the max contract considering he's probably the best young player in the NHL.

Can't happen, go back a page or two it's explained. There's a rule against it.

No way Heatley nets 7.8 mill a season and you're nuts if you throw in Redden here.

Redden can be traded off if need be later a net even more return.

Heatley wanted out so he better be prepraed to make less than Hossa and they better sign him for less than Hossa

Getting rid of Devries is a great move frees up 3 million dollars.

where did you hear Heatley wanted out :wtf:? there was no way Atlanta was gonna be able to sign both Heatley and Kovalchuk. Heatley is gonna sign a contract that will be bigger than Hossa's will probably have more years on it though but he will probably average atleast 6 mil a season.

No way Muckler trades Hossa to sign a guy for more money, that's nuts.

As for Heatley wanting out it's right in the link I posted.

Here's the quote:

"We had approached the Thrashers a couple of weeks ago requesting a change of environment," agent Stacey McAlpine told The Canadian Press. "It was an extremely difficult decision, but we all worked together to try and get things resolved and it looks like we were able to do that."

MoRcHeEbA
08-23-2005, 05:31 PM
I can still guarantee he signs a bigger contract than Hossa. the difference is he'll be in Ottawa for along time and will probably end up with a contract that compares with Nash and lecavalier.

All reports I've read say it's gonna be around a 3 year contract

Same length as Hossa's so unless he makes like 6.5 mill a season or something crazy like that h'll sign for less. He better anyway or this trade sucks. Besides Heatley still has to prove himself after the car crash and the eye injury last winter while he was in Europe.

I feel alsmot certain this move was done to allow the Sens to keep CHara and Redden.

Lara, why would the trade suck if Heatley signed for less?
No I said it would suck if he signed for more.

Which he didn't.

13.5 million over 3 years. Wicked! That saved 4.5 million.

"Hossa, who was headed to arbitration Tuesday, will earn $5 million this season, $6 million in 2006-07 and $7 million the following season. while Heatley will earn $3.5 million, $4.5 million and 5.5 million."

http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?ID=134320&hubName=nhl

This is a beautiful deal, they get a guy who has the ability to match Hossa's offensive output, for a whole lot less, plus they get rid of a dead weight salary eater in Devries and now there is a chance they can keep Redden and Chara. Muckler is awesome.

That being said too bad he couldn't get Hossa to sign a contract like Heatley's because on a personal off the ice level I don't like Heatley, but that's okwith him now in a Sens uniform he'll grow on me , especially if he performs like I know he can.

What's wrong with Heatley's off ice personality? The fact that he got in a car accident while drinking? That's bullshit. No second chance in your view?

WOW what a blockbuster deal!

I like the trade. More because they saved money than any other reason. Hossa was probably the most gifted offensive player to ever wear a Sens jersey so this definitely is a great loss. My hope is that we will see this trade pay off when it is most important at playoff time.

I'm thinking there will be one more big trade before the season starts. I heard rumours of either Richards or St. Louis being moved from Tampa in a salary cutting move.

The fact that he killed someone while being reckless. He wasn't drunk btw. I just said he'll grow on me, so he's getting his second chance in my view.

Lightning re-sign St. Louis to six-year deal

The Tampa Bay Lightning (http://msn.foxsports.com/nhl/team/66319) took another step to keep the core of their Stanley Cup championship team together Wednesday, signing Martin St. Louis (http://msn.foxsports.com/nhl/player/66782) to a six-year contract worth more than $31 million.
