I think it was only because whenever Vince announces something it's usually something huge and something we didn't know about. This was something we all knew would happen eventually

I was hoping for Brock. When he mentioned the record, I knew there was more, then when he started talking about bringing back wrestlers who stabbed him in the back, I thought Brock. Then he brings out Matt. Although I felt the electricity as the crowd marked out for Hardy, I still wanted something bigger, like Brock or (although the timing is too soon) Hassan. Same here TR. They should've saved it for when they bring Brock back.
So yeah it was a massive let down, and Matt's promo was shit to.

Nah it was fine, but Hardy's promo was lacking
He should have said Vince can kiss his ass for firing him in the first place, instead of ignoring that all together.

LOL
Yeah sucked ass. At first I thought it was going to be the USA network announcement because they mentioned the history of Raw, then I thought Brock, then when they mentioned this wrestler would face Edge, I was like Hardy :-\

huge dissapointment. Matt Hardy was never a draw to begin with (ok maybe with the Hardyz but that was all Jeff)

Judging by the response here, it looks like Hardy's new career could be over before it's even began.

It was only a let down because we all knew of other news going on, if there was nothing else happening I don't think everyone would be so negative about it, but I am a supporter of Matt, so I am baised

It was indeed a letdown. All that buildup. Vince McMahon actually making a television appearance...and it's for Matt Hardy? Then again, I'm glad it wasn't Lesnar. I know the odds are I'm in the minority, but I really have no interest in seeing Lesnar again.

How is it that Hardy can be so entertaining by shouting "V-One-nahhhhhhhh!" but when it comes to speaking about something which is real to him and has seriously effected his life, he looks like a total muppet.

You know. This whole Screw job whatever it is could be the best thing that's ever happened to Matt.
it's definatly gotten him alot more over anyway.
I for one am happy his back.
But to make it a big announcment?
I mean come on he was only a midcarder to begin with. Still..

If a guy like Honky Tonk Man comes back, will Vince announce that next?

They'll probably throw a parade for when Boogey Man debuts.

That's not a bad idea. Have like a Tim Burton inspired cast of dancers and actors dressed up in scary costume - like the baddies from Batman Returns or even one or two of the Nightmare Before Christmas cast - parade down to the ring before presenting their high priest - the Boogeyman.
Let's face it, the only way this is going to get over is for a tongue-in-cheek approach. Otherwise, it's Mordecai bound for the Booger.

I really wanted him to get Hassan'd right as he was announcing Hassan's return.

Come to think of it, the announcement would've been big had Hardy not been on WWE TV at all yet. Hell, it would've had SOME fire had his initial attack on Edge been his only WWE TV time, and Matt was continuing to just work the indies, not appearing on Raw at all.
Let down? Yeah bringing back one of, if not the single most over guy in the company right now is a let down.

I've noticed the arena chants dying down, and frankly, there's no real indication you can give me using the numbers you normally try to chuck at people aside from perhaps the ratings his TV segments have been getting, but I wouldn't say that Edge and Kane didn't have anything to do with those segments, personally.
Using numbers? Who the hell called Matt Hardy a draw? Hogan isn't a draw and yet he is over like rover. I use TV, attendances and PPV numbers to show who draws. Crowd noise indicates being over.

The chants dying down probably has nothing to do with the redundancy of his runins, right? And being a draw when you're nto an advertised part of the card really reflects how OVER you are.

I'm not saying the chants dying down has nothing to do with that, but I am saying that the redundancy is well on its way to making the very fans that clamored for Matt Hardy's return and supported him during the whole "fired" phase not give a fuck.
I was never that passionate about Matt myself, although I did think it was pretty fucked up what happened to him, but even those that have been seem to be simmering down now that Matt is back.
I just think they have some work to do if they want to keep Matt Hardy over.
I think you need to go and check the pop he got when his music hit and then again when he came through the curtains then. Maybe because the internet isn't so buzzed with him, doesn't mean people don't want to see him. Personally, this feud is the only reason I am still watching Raw right now.

It pailed in comparison to the cheers he got just two weeks prior.

A while back, I would've said screw him. But I have to say, I'm really liking this. As long as this isn't only a two week feud or so, I'll be happy. I'm already a huge Edge mark, and Hardy's doing his part to keep me interested. I'm looking forward to see how this turns out.
Heaven forbid someone should actually get a push.

My thoughts exactly. But I must add..
Heaven forbid someone should actually get a push who isn't Jericho, HHH, Angle, HBK, HHH, HHH, Cena...HHH. Did I say HHH enough?

(although the timing is too soon) Hassan. Allaaaalallleeeeyyyyaaaaaalllllaaaayyyyllllleeeeyyyaaaa......
Strangely, I almost was thinking Bret Hart...
but Hassan would have owned. I just think he should show up unnanounced....break up a match. if Shelton wins back the IC Belt....then in the rematch, Hassan can come out to challenge him.

When I was reading the results and heard Vince had a big announcment, I was hoping it had something to do with Lesnar... but the joke's on me. Why should I expect anything cool or exciting to take place in WWE in 2005?

Personally, this feud is the only reason I am still watching Raw right now.
I watch Raw no matter what, but I was telling someone the other day (or maybe I posted it) that the only thing that interests me right now is Matt Hady/Edge. That's the only match I'd actually pay to see right now.
All I can say is I'm so thankful I have Sky+ (British answer to Tivo). I can watch Raw in 40mins and skip all the crap.
