I know I'm late on this (don't wander in the sports forum much) but I love the UFC. I'm actually planning on doing some MMA fights in the next few years. I was a nationally ranked amatuer wrestler in college. I know a few guys that run a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gym about an hour away from here. Might drive up there and get some training in every now and then. Should be fun :y:

Also, the "vampire guy" with the fangs on his mouthguard is Andrei Arlovski.

What happend to Hoyce Gracie(sp)? I luved that guy.

Not as often as you'd think. Tim Sylvia tore a bicep and broke his elbow badly a few fights back and you get the odd broken nose or cheekbone now and again. Injury rates are far less than boxing.

Royce Gracie is a MMA God

Yeah Tim Sylvia was caught in an armbar and the guy (I think it was Frank Mir) broke his forearm. You couldn't see it until the replay, but it was nasty

UFC is blowing up right now, and with Boxing sucking lately it's the best thing going

Ah man what a card!

Liddell just beat the fuck out of Horn, and Horn kept coming. Took 4 rounds before Horn admitted that he couldn't see anymore

Couture wins with a tap-out

Diego won

The last fight they showed which happened earlier in the night, BEST FLYING KNEE EVER. The guy got knocked stiff

I think Diego Sanchez needs to scrap the next few months worth of training in favor of some charisma, sportsmanship, and overall mic skills lessons.

Rogan: Walk us through the closing part of the fight
Sanchez: I look pretty good, those sponsor shorts look pretty good on me. Oh, I broke his eye socket. Go buy a Nissan.

Irvin was getting beat before that wicked knee attack.

St.Pierre was freaking phenominal. Chuck Liddell wasn't to far off either. Can this dude even be hurt?

Forrest Griffin could be the biggest star ever. His stupid arse joke promos will quickly put a stop to that though. I would be shocked if he trades punches with Ian Freeman and comes out standing.

This is the rumored card for UFC 55

UFC 55 OCTOBER 7th AT MOHEGAN SUN

- Evan Tanner vs David Loiseau

- Forrest Griffin vs Ian Freeman

- Elvis Sinosic vs Alessio Sakara

- Paul Buentello vs Andrei Arlovski

- Babalu vs Chael Sonnen

- Stephen Bonner vs TBA

Doesn't look too spectacular so far. I'd like to see Tanner v. Loiseau and Griffin v. Freeman, but that's about it. I guess it depends on who Bonnar is fighting also. I guess they want to hold off on Franklin and Hughes defending their title until after TUF 2 (starts tonight btw for those who didn't see the hundred thousand times they mentioned it this weekend).

It's a definate that Franklin and Hughes aren't fighting until after the series finals. UFC wanted them to fight each other but it's not gonna happen. Franklin can't drop to 170 and they are good friends on top of it.

UFC is the goods. Unfortunately I don't catch it often enough and since I no longer have Piarated Cable and am far too cheap to buy PPVs, I don't see it enough. It's far, far better than Boxing. I still like boxing, but MMA is leagues better.

UFC is gonna ride Forrest for a while, until they can set up a Griffin vs. Liddell fight...and possibly Couture vs. Bonnar

AareDub
08-23-2005, 03:08 AM
I think it'll be a long time before we see Griffin or Bonnar fight anybody like Couture and Liddel. As it stands right now I think either of the TUF guys would get slaughtered by the top names.

The current champs are:
Heavyweight - Andrei Arlovski
Light Heavyweight - Chuck Liddel
Middleweight - Rich Franklin
Welterweight - Matt Hughes

I was kinda disappointed with the first episode of TUF2 tonight. How the hell can you show up for the show 20lbs over your expected weight. I don't care if you don't expect to fight for a few days, at least get within 10lbs of the weight you need to be. They always say these guys are supposed to be the best of the unsigned, but it always looks like 2 or 3 of the best unsigned guys thrown in a house with a bunch of people who have little to no experience at all.

I dont know about ' hurt ' , but Horn made him pass out in there first fight. Horn going 4 rounds with Liddel shocks me. I have alot more respect for Horn now. I've always thought Horn was a little soft.

I watched Hughes vs Trigg 2. Trigg had hin 3 times. Couldnt put the guy down. I mean Trigg really fucking had a victory. He had a rear naked choke position on him that he wasnt able to complete. He caught Hughes off guard and put him to the ground and gave him a pounding when Hughes paused for a moment to argue a low blow. Hughes still manage to survive and get a rear naked choke on Trigg. Hughes is amazing.

Hughes was on another planet that night. The fight should have been stopped for the low blow. The comeback was amazing but including a bloody Oklahoma Slam for good measure was unbelievable. BJ Penn wouldn't last 3 minutes with Hughes again.

Mir refused to fight him. He was stripped of the title last week and now Arlovski is the official UFC heavyweight champ. He'll still want to smash up Mir though. I honestly can't see Mir having a hope. Arlovski is right up there with Fedor Emelianenko and Mirko Cro Cop.

Dana seems to be more straight foreward than Vince, just by their appearances in Tough Enough and the Ultimate Fighter

But seriously, why the fuck do you quit after dropping 15 pounds out of 20 pounds to make weight. You have Rich fucking Franklin in the sauna with you by your side. That heavyweight quit after another got injured. I mean what did he expect, he was gonna be filmed for a few weeks.

Trigg had nowhere to go. I think he would have quit soon enough on his own. For the better, at least right now.

As for Dana White, I've noticed he doesn't mind getting himself on the TV. At least he isn't a big talker like Vince.

I'm so fucking pissed at my DVR tonight. Last week I set it to record TUF2 on Monday nights. It wanted to record from 10:05 to 11:00, but I changed to go to 11:15 because it always runs that long anyway. The stupid thing sets the extended recording time for only last week, then puts the rest of them back to end at 11. So I'm watching tonights episode, 2 rounds of pretty decent action then commercial break and BAM no more left on the recording.

I read that Melvin lost, but I would love to see his reaction. All that talk and he was the first one beaten, haha.

i dont blame Mir for not wanting a to fight AA right now. If Mir fights in december im sure he'll fight a "lower grade" fighter. then id like to see him fight the winner of AA/Sylvia (which i think will be next after he runs through Buentello). Settle the HW title while all 3 of them are healthy.

I finally downloaded and watched Pride Final Conflict 2005. I dunno, I like UFC better. The 10-5-5 thing for rounds kinda seems to encourage slower paced matches. They could also really benefit from a cage type ring, its ridiculous to break up fighters and move them back to the middle.

I'm liking the latest rumors going around for the UFC. They took the Tanner v. Loiseau fight off of UFC55 and moved it to an Oct 3rd Monday Night PPV. That fight was one of the only fights I really cared to see on the PPV and now I can see it free. UFC56 is going to be co-headlined by the TUF2 coaches. Hughes will fight Karo and make quick work of him. Franklin is rumored to be facing Nate Quarry. That match will be amazing.

Oh, and they're talking Liddel v. Couture III for Feb.

No chance. The PPV in feb is going to be the night before the Super Bowl. They need something HUGE. Liddell v. Couture III would draw waaaaay more than Liddel v. Rampage.

Hell, if they're smart they'll do something like Bonnar v. Griffin II that night also.
