View Full Version : IYO who is going to be the guy to take WWE to the top again?

The Naitch
08-07-2005, 01:14 AM
Hogan
Austin
The Rock
(fill in the blank)

Cena can. But he has to go heel and let him do his own shit, not the writers. Still see them botching this

The man after Rock should've been Jericho but you know the story.

Carlito maybe?

I don't think it will be Cena. I just think he'll grow "old" by the time he really establishes himself at that level. He'll always be near the top, though.

Batista or Brock Lesnar could do, as could Shelton Benjamin or Carlito, but I don't think we've really seen that top star yet.

IMO, it's all about the creative. Lots of WWE Superstars have "it"

It's just up to the creative team to do something. C'mon now. Hell, if I ran the company, I could make Spike Dudley the man. Seriously.

Hassan in red, white and blue trunks. A la Lex Luger :shifty:

It could have been Hassan, but bad timing and idiocy messed that up.

I think Carlito has a chance to be that guy. He's good on the mic, is Decent in the ring, and does alot of the small stuff that makes him an entertaining Character.

If he brings in big money, then Dat would be Cool.

What Would Kevin Do?
08-07-2005, 04:50 AM
Shelton Benjamin, but for different reasons. ( Mainly the "Holy shit, look at that fucker!") He busts his ass to entertain, and that's a big plus.

Carlito good be huge, especially if he feuds with the right people. I want to see him feud with Hardy, just for the line of "You let your girl go behind your back and sleep with a guy who calls himself Edge??? Dat.... Dat's not Cool."

If Cena went back to being Cena, maybe him.

Not the Boogeyman.

I don't think Christian will be either... He'll be the secondary guy, ala Piper to Hogan, Vince to Austin.

Batista or Brock ( could be the next bad motherfucker.. Unfortunately, one will have to be fed to the other for this to happen.)

Eddie G if he can keep up the intensity.

In the end though, I'm hoping it's Paul Heyman :)

At the moment, it feels like those days are over. I doub and hope that cena will never reach the level of austin or rock.

We've seen a "small" run with Orton on the top, but if I were to put my money it'll be Randy Orton.

The Naitch
08-07-2005, 05:21 AM
I bet I can give you an aweome angle that could make Cena the next Austin and Orton try to be like Rock. brb, I'll post it in a bit

What Would Kevin Do?
08-07-2005, 05:33 AM
I already gave my idea for Cena... It involves him basically beating Jericho, Edge, and some other people, and then beating HBK and Hogan in the same night at WM, basically no selling the leg drop, then Fuing Hogan, cementing him as a great.

Then have him go uber egotistical heel. Have him go crazy with "Bling" be bigger than the fans, etc.

Orton on the other hand.. Meh, he can pull off the egotistical cocky heel, but he's not THAT great.

The Naitch
08-07-2005, 05:38 AM
yeah basically the same idea.

Wouldn't hurt having Rock having some big time ballers and shotcallers added for mainstream publicity for Mania. Wait, ignore that. Wait, probably try for Eminem or Method Man. Even Jay-Z

The Naitch
08-07-2005, 05:40 AM
Old school cena should come out. Non of this..."This is for you! The Chain Gang. 10 year old's have my back dawg, and I got a chain that looks like G-Units" type thing

What Would Kevin Do?
08-07-2005, 05:44 AM
The Rock and Austin would be great to feed to Cena too... Basically have him crush all the old icons... Although I don't think Austin would, I'm pretty sure Hogan will ( I read it somewhere that he actually likes Cena... I dunno)

They need to have like Eminem battle rap Cena... Just so Cena can lose and FU Eminem. I'd say Jay-Z, but chances are, people who like Cena will be more into Eminem than Jay-Z.

I imagine Cena ending up like Cedric the Entertainers playing Sin LeSalle in Be Cool. Basically this hardass badass who has obviously sold out and is living the good life, but still tries to be hard.

The Naitch
08-07-2005, 05:52 AM
Cena definitely needs more "street" cred on WWE TV atleast.

What was up with his rap at Mania 19? Did he "shoot" on Fab and Jay-Z or did they let him do it? Worked_shoot_Style. I was taking a piss when this happend. The washroom's at SafeCo had huge lineups.

Wanksta Cena has to go. He's on RAW so they should captialize on it. He's so close to being "cool" but the little things turn me off.

And the 5 knuckle shuffle should be his finisher. Heel Cena dissing Rocky and whoever would be cool. Basically he should try to become cooler than Paul

Hogan likes him? Not sure. Didn't he hit on Brooke?

I think alot of it has to do with the vets keeping him down. For now. Until he gaims more respect somehow. So time will tell.

The Naitch
08-07-2005, 05:55 AM
If he could stay on the lines of 2003 like his raps against Rikishi, Spanky, Taker, Angle, Funaki, and Brock, he should be better than he is right now.

Atleast that was tolerable.

Exactly. It ain't gonna be Cena either. Brock could've and so could Angle if he hadn't been hurt last year.

There is no way in hell that Austin or the Rock are gonna job to the lamest finisher in the history of wrestling. At least I hope they wouldn't if asked to.

I'm sorry but I don't see what everyone else is so high on Eddie about. His title run was great I'll admit, but everything after that just sucked. And his promos after he lost the title were just retarded. Sure I enjoyed his "passionate" promos but after a while his clammy overacting just looked ridiculous. And I dunno if it's true but I read that Rey Mysterio and himself came up with this shit storyline that they're part of right now.

I liked the feud up til the last couple of weeks, BTW. "DOMINC! I AM YOUR FATHER ESSE!" was crap. The ebdtime story seriously sucked, and didn't feel like Eddie to me.

Eddie: Dominic.. I am your father esse!
Dominic: No! That's not true! That's impossible!
Eddie: Search your feelings. You know it to be true..... ESSE VATO LOCO!

As for who can bring the WWE to the top again (though TECHNICALLY they are on the top)... I really can't see anybody bringing it back to the popularity it once had.

Chris Masters...

The guy is getting better and better every time I see him on Raw.

Size, charisma, looks...only thing he needs to improve on is his wrestling ability because he is still too green.

But think about it...

Last year, we all thought the same of Batista. Now, Bastista is maineventing PPV's. I definately see a brighter future for Chris Masters...he will be in the mainevent scene and become a household name a la SSCA, Rock, Foley.

LOL, I remember that rap. That was HILARIOUS....that's what made Cena "official". Didn't he have the Fabolous and Jay-Z cutouts up there when he was talking about them?

Agreed about Cena in "wanksta" mode. Cena seems to be watered down by some outside force. The F-U, which was finally looking like a real finisher when Cena turned it sitout...is back to its old "dump and kneel" ways. Cena's promos are too babyfaced and predictable... and "Y2Cheap?" we all know Cena can come up with something better than that. "Y2Lame?" "Y2Gay?" There's no way to tell who's exactly responsible, but Cena's slowly losing the "edge" that got him over in the first place, and is stagnating.

Maybe if he drops his piece of shit Masterpiece gimmick.

No way...I see the Masterpiece gimmick evolving into something special.

Think about it...

The rich snob gimmick was the foundation that built Triple H into a dominant heel. By the same token, the masterpiece gimmick is a foundation that will likely built up.

Whoever he is, he's not in WWE right now.

Cena is awesome and all, but he doesn't have that extra spark that put Hogan, Austin, and Rock over that hill.

Eddie can, but I wouldn't move him to RAW, because SD shouldn't have to lose another top draw for RAW.

But my thought would be someone that has talent as well as mic skill. And Eddie has that. Just...keep him on SD, where he can get people to want to watch the "minor show", even if it's on UPN.

Kinda like when Cena just turned face, he still had the badass attitude, but over time he got cornier til he was just another typical face trying too hard to stay over with fans. He's got enough charisma to carry WWE at this point though.

Too bad that's not saying a lot. :(

No one will do it.

The reason Steve Austin and The Rock took the WWE to the top was because the WWE let them be themselves. The WWE writing staff saw something in Stone Cold and they took the ball and put it in his hands - but it was Austin who ran with it. Same thing went for The Rock after Austin was injured.

These days the writers don't know what they're doing, but the big problem is that they THINK they DO know what they're doing. So they put the ball in someone else's hands, but they're the ones trying to run with it. You can't score without the ball. They script the interviews and don't allow the wrestlers to be themselves. That fact, along with the fact that the matches have become more and more watered down and copy-printed leads me to believe that the WWE will not find another Rock or Austin.

Until the writers are killed.
