DUSTY RHODES JOINING WWE CREATIVE TEAM
"American Dream” Dusty Rhodes was a guest on this week’s WWE ByteThis! internet show and made some major announcements regarding his status and future with WWE:
- He is signed to a Legends contract and has verbally agreed to work with WWE’s Creative Team.
- He’s very close to signing on the dotted line and that “[officially] signing with WWE is just a formality”. He met with WWE’s current Creative Team and sees this as a great opportunity to work with the young minds at WWE and to contribute his own style and philosophies to the product.
- This is a chance for him to really see what’s going on in the industry. Dusty used a phrase which I read Jimmy Hart use on WWE.com, and that was - the future is the past. He thinks the business has evolved too much and things need to be brought back to basics. Today’s product shouldn’t be radically different than what it was 10 years ago - it should be an updated version of the basic principles that have stood for decades and made wrestling great. He spoke passionately about the business as a whole and that there are several things that need to be changed. He sounded excited at the opportunity to work with WWE in its current state, which clearly has a lot of work that needs to be done.
- Dusty spoke very highly of Stephanie, saying she is a lot like her father in her understanding of the business.
- This is an opportunity, some of which come later in life than others, to play again for the Yankees. The Yankees are the greatest franchise in the history of sports and World Wrestling Entertainment is the greatest company in the history of sports entertainment. WWE is a tremendous, huge company.
- One thing he wants to do before he retires is wrestle Ric Flair at a houseshow one more time. He said he didn’t care if it was only a 1-night thing, but he seemed to be very excited about the chance to face Flair before he officially retired.
Overall it was a very good interview and Dusty seems hungry to prove himself. There are not many bookers around today with more experience than Dusty and it’s clear he has a vision for how to turn things around for WWE
Not sure if this is old news. Here's hoping his vision for the WWE is nowhere close to his vision of TNA.

I found it funny where it it said he was excited to be working with the WWE in it's current state. I assume because it leaves him with less work to do.

Or, perhaps, a lot more. Maybe he'll be useful? One could hope, right?....

This from the man who cut an actually quite moving promo about the "Big promotion up north" and how they don't have heart anymore...
I love realising that Vince McMahon's money can buy love, forgivness, and redemption.....I want some.

Well he's not going to start slagging her off now is he?

You mean 'uncreative team'.The thought of calling those writers creative is too funny for me.

Ok a serious question
While booking TNA what did Dusty do that was so bad?
I know he pushed Chris Daniels and AJ Styles so I know it couldn't have been that bad.

Two wrestlers make the show watchable? Fuck that, TNA was a train wreck.

He's excited because he can't do a worse job...
...Or so HE thinks.

If those 2 wrestlers are AJ Styles and Chris Daniels then yes they make the show watchable.
Wasn't it Dusty that took the title off of JJ?

Maybe but he made AJ look like the biggest jobber in the entire planet with the way it happened.

he did put the title back on Raven though (albeit because Jarrett refused to job in the match and didn't compete)

I'm pretty sure Dusty was gone by then, but putting the title on Raven booking wise is terrible idea since he jobbed to everyone in the months before he won the title.

That'd be quite funny. Bischoff could do his 'disgusted face routine' and his usual 'do you know who I am' rant. Classic television. :)

Seriously? Well, he actually didn't push those two until the very end of his run, instead running storylines where guys like Nash, DDP, and his son Dustin were at the top of the card. He made the decision to have Jarrett beat Raven to end their feud when Raven was wildly over. There was that decision to push Shocker. The X Division was actually de-emphasized while he was in charge. He repetedly ran his famous 'Dusty finish' and 'wild brawl.no finish' to end matches.
Basically just a lot of the same outdated ideas he would throw together when he booked for NWA/WCW.
Oh...and of course having himself as a major on-screen character. Another Dusty trademark.
I'm actually wondering why you're confused as to what he did wrong? Has TNA for any extended time in the last 18 months or so been very enjoyable? When you're the head of the booking team, then Dusty ha to take the blame for that.

It was pretty much the same formula for TNA's main event in the last 12 months.
Step one - New face arrives
Step two - New face taunts Jarrett
Step three - Jarrett accepts challenge
(optional Step three and a half - Jarrett recruits other heel to beat on new face)
Step four - Jarrett beats face in PPV thanks to Guitar shot
Step five - New faces arrives

Styles looked like a fucking joke, winning shittily and then jobbing to a hasbeen.
That's worth watching? You're a bigger fanboy than Loose Cannon.

Thank you for updating me and I did forget about Dustin being up in the main even so yes I can see why Dusty was a bad booker.
And KK when it comes to AJ Styles I don't care how he is booked beacuse I am an AJ fanboy and I will watch Styles no matter how poorly booked he was. Which was pretty poor

Not that you needed to tell me that. I could guess you were a fanboy already.
Now the real question in my mind is, what difference does it make that Dusty "pushed" him then, since the push was shit and you're a fanboy anyway?
