just saw this today, pretty awesome. 68th of all time on IMDB. bunch of stories interwinding, etc etc. i'd tell you about it but you should just go see it. or if you have seen it, discuss it here with me, because it ruled.

I wanted to seeit so bad, but I never got the chance. Is it still out in theatres? I might pick up the DVD if not.

No it's not, but it hits DVD on the 6th of Sept. so you might as well wait. (Unless you want to go to the shitty $2.50 theatre by the freeway)

Which Crash are you talking about? The one with Sandra Bullock or the one where some guys fuck car crash victims?

The old one sounds like it has a pretty good plot though.

The only thing I remember about the old one is that it's NC-17. And oh yeah, I saw the trailer for it once, and it looked fucking weird.

Anyways, the new Crash is the best movie of 2005. And it's still in theatres in San Jose, at least this one theater.

El Capitano Gatisto

The old one isn't too bad.

The other crash which has nothing to do with this crash was based of an awesome novel by JG Ballard and was directed perfectly by David Cronenberg, it brought the book to cinematic life beautifully.

The 2005 Crash is an amazing movie also. Directed by the same person who wrote million Dollar Baby.

The old crash had that canadian dude in it who played casey jones in ninja turtles. It was odd, and sexual. I've seen it like 4 times.

Wouldnt mind seeing this crash either.

I was actually thinking bout seeing it tomorrow. Just saw its still playing at theater by me. I should probably just wait for dvd but I really prefer big theater screen. Also I might be only one in theater which would be awesome.

nice timing for bump, cause I was about to as I just saw it... yea it was an awesome movie, spine chilling (drama kind). Also it's 48th on imdb but that changes frequently I guess.

Everyone should see it.

Ol Dirty Dastard

No, it was in theatres in like April or May.

Fucking sick movie, just saw it lastnight.

So in the old Crash, these guys actaully showed up to a car wreck and whipped it out and started fucking these people while there still strapped upside down in there seatbelts or something?

I have never seen a movie with Sandra Bullock in it, and i'm sure as hell not starting now.

Crash Band

It was in the theaters as late as August. But it had been out since April. Surprised it went so quickly to DVD. Usually there's a bit of a longer lay-off period between in the theater stage and rental stage.

Yeah I saw the release date on imdb.com being something like May 6th. My old theater only had 2 screens, so it always got shit way late than the rest.

Watched this the other night. It was good once, but it's nowhere near my "top movies" list. It had some bad editing choices IMO. I was soooo emotionally drained after the scene with the mexican guy and his daughter, that I didn't care about the rest of the movie right away. It also seemed like there were too many stories going on at once to really care about any of the characters, especially since so many of them were so easy to hate.

I know this is an old thread but I just saw this tonight.

Fucking excellent movie. Well deserving of the Academy Award for Best Picture.

It seemes one of the main themes of the movie is that everyone has prejudices, and you can everyone can be the victim of prejudice as well.

With that said, did Daniel (the Mexican guy) have any prejudices at all? He seemed like the one pure character in the whole movie.

i thought the social comentary was a little over the top throughout the movie.

just goes to show that the Oscars mean nothing.

PapaGeorgio
04-23-2006, 04:16 AM
Don't think it deserved the Oscar in my opinion. To me it's an above average film. People act as if its such a coming of age film, over 10 years ago Spike Lee came out with a little film called Do The Right Thing which is so much better. I just think Crash is way overrated, its good but people praise it way to highly.

D Mac
04-23-2006, 06:18 AM
It deserved the Oscar more than any others it was nominated against.

I just watched it again on DVD - the scene where the daughter gets "shot" really get to me, I dunno why, but if a scene from a movie was going to move me to tears that one is it.

I thought it was crap.

I'd give it like 1.5 out of 5 personally.

Basically, my issue with it is, granted, I don't live in America, but it just seemed so unrealistic to me. Like, all this racism, I mean, is this really the case in America? If it was released 15 years ago, it would have been better, but, for example, when the cop felt up the black lady...don't police cars have camera's at the front of them, wouldn't they have caught all that on film?

Tony Danza saying the actor needs to talk more "black", I just really doubt someone would say that kind of stuff.

The two car-jakers (or whatever you call them), complaining about people being racist to them, and then going out there and stealing a car.

It terms of the movie, they tried to pull off the whole pulp fiction, donnie darko, magnolia, even butterfly effect thing. Granted, it was better than magnolia, but to me, it just didn't work.

el fregadero
05-17-2006, 01:04 AM
I don't work in the television industry, but I could definitely see that Danza scene happening. Same with the car-jackers. The molesting scene I guess is a bit more of a far stretch because of the cameras they have on them, but it's definitely still something that happens.

Yeah. Sad but true. And even with the cameras, unless someone on the force was brave enough to step forward with the footage (and risk being alienated by his peers), no one would ever see the tape.

Granted, it was set in L.A., a city not exactly famed for "brotherly love," but some of that stuff (namely, the fate of the Middle Eastern family) happens all over the country, moreso now than ever in light of Americans' growing fear of the unfamiliar (i.e. dark people).
