By this pricing I would say it's safe to say that the PS3 will do something like this or maybe just be $399. Although there has been talk about a $299 price tag, I don't think it will be as certain now.

Prices will crash fairly early. Even though people will pay that amount of money, most people won't. Happened this generation.

They will stay high long enough though

Oh most definately. Of course, any one who goes out and buys a console at launch despite the high probability of most of the launch games being crap anyway, probably deserves to spend the high amount to begin with.

Besides, the prices listed in £s there are going to be even higher when they come out here in England.

That's expensive, but from what I've read about the 360, it is reasonable for launch since they are really upping the ante in terms of processing power. And all the extra shit you are getting for another $100 is going to cost more, according to the price chart, to buy separately.

It's even made mainstream news.

Well if you get the standard version you can't save unless you get the memory unit (40 bucks). If you want another accessory like the high def cables or something it's another 40 bucks. So you're looking at 380 vs 400 between the bare and loaded versions. You're WAAAY better off just buying the loaded version.

The loaded version's definitely worth the extra if you're gonna buy one.

Also, isn't the PS3 estimated to be like 500 bucks?

Yeah the loaded is the way to go if you're going to buy it. I think Michael Pachter was right when he said the $299 is just to say they released it at a $299 price tag at launch. I can definitely see them saying that quite often, especially at E3 when everyone is going to push the next gen consoles.

Not sure what the PS3's price tag is going to be but I wouldn't be surprised at a $399 at launch.

Well, it's also common not to sell the system fully loaded at lanuch anyway.

Sony's got a major opportunity to pull an "owned you, Saturn!" again here.

Seriously, just make PS3 $249, or even $299, and boom.

Unlikely.

I'm glad I don't want a 360, I'm just gonna get the PS3 and Revolution.

I'm waiting to see what has the better games. XBox looks like it may have more games I want this time around, and PS3's looking more interesting. About all I can guarantee I'll want is Revolution...Even if its games aren't as big, the combination of free online play (Even if it's limited to First party guaranteed as free) + first party games from the past for download=orgasm, plus I'm already hot on some of the new titles.

Meh. Out of the three, i'm only 100% getting a Revolution, probably about 75% on PS3. and about 40% on 360.

The good news is that Nintendo will be about 250 bucks or less I bet. They won't make their price the same as the Xbox 360, because most people probably would choose the 360, besides the gamers who want to download the old NES/SNES/N64 games (like me :D)

Ill be sure to pick up a 360..

That's nothing money to me :D

Not including the hard drive with every console is a silly move.
